This could be useful for some newbies in the house. Please note that it is just an analysis of selected stocks (cheapest according to PE) to guide your investment decisions.

BullBearMkt:
...good question @Agba. When I plotted volatility indicator (ADX) on both stocks, it shows that it's less than 20 which may backup your claim of lower volatility. But Sterln Bank does 3m volume daily with minimum volume in excess of 500k! This to me is an indication of "elite or exclusive" stock unlike the more popular ones. Same goes for IBTC.

If you look at the second chart posted in the above post you can see that the 2 stocks behalf similar to the index until August when Sterln Bank deviated from the falling index and IBTC follows mid September. Do we say, low volatility caused the deviation. No! I think there is something fundamentally has changed the perception of investors in this regard.

On the possibility of the bolded question, I don't think this is correct! Technically, history has shown that any stock that perform well in a "bear" market 90% of the time outperform the market during the bull period (and that is exactly my message in the post). You might want to research this by yourself.

I remember posting something on IBTC when I saw the same behaviour & just immediately after, the stock rallied to above 40

grin grin grin grin grin
I agree with the bolded
My query was with regards to peer
Meaning it may outperform the market (index), but perform below some of its peer

For example, my 'GUT' doesn't agree that sterlin can outperform MOST of its peers

...Agba, we are not talking about performance in terms of Naira versus Naira. This is ratio! and it has already outperformed many of its peers in the banking sector! What I would like to see is the stock taking a breath before another rally

Watching the 'stringing pulses' of Sterling bank purchases in carefully calculated units, executed in rapid successions and without any regards to rationality any time it trades above 500K will test your patience to remain silent.

Strings of 2K+, 4K+, 6K+, 7K+, 9K+..etc etc. Ask FXUSER.... grin

You just keep watching in hazic amazement... grin

Report reaching me from a very reliable source has it that the recent series II bond issuance from WEMA BANK which opened well over a month ago, and which has a 7 year duration (2018-2025) has been fully concluded. ...with the exercise recording a far more than expected SUCCESS rate.

The bank hopes to give guidance to this and more in the nearest future.

NOTE: This is no representation to any sought of recommendation. ...due diligence should still remain ur 1st priority.

Former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel has predicted that activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange would rise instantly when the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, is declared winner of next year’s presidential election.

Daniel, who is the Director-General of Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, made this known yesterday when he featured on Channels TV’s, Sunday Politics, which was monitored by DAILY POST.

According to him, the rise in the volume of trading on the nation’s stock exchange would come about because of belief by investors that his presidency would create an environment that would inspire confidence in the economy and bring in foreign capital into country.

“Take this as a prediction, when in February 2019, the election results are reeled out and Atiku becomes president, the first thing that you (Nigerians) are going to see is that activities on the Nigerian stock exchange is going to rise.

“You will see instant (upward) movements indicating that people believe there will be an environment where they can bring in capital,” he said.

Daniel further blamed the country’s high inflation figures and loss of a chunk of the Naira’s value on the policies of the incumbent government, saying “It was capital flight occasioned by the ‘fear of Buhari’ that brought about the inflation, we are facing and the collapse of the Naira.”

In view of the fact that some additional information on our postings will now be added, you can check our twitter handle “Target Technical Analysis”.

Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. Also, Institutions can afford to suffer big losses without going burst compared with an individual, you cannot follow them blindly (you need to at least have some knowledge/your own plan).

1. Due to the fact so many new people are coming to this forum and may not know this use of following the “big monies that move markets”, I will be indicating why/how to use the information. This will be a permanent future of my post to reduce some comments which may prevent the people that understand the system from confusion by people who have not followed how this started. My comment for today for anybody who doubts the efficacy of following the fund is to look at my recent recommendations for the past 2 months.

2. The fund will still hold some equity, the terms of service states this. Thus no matter the condition of the market, it will not liquidate to Zero. This is an equity fund investing in the Nigeria market.

3. You cannot bear losses like the fund. The pocket of the fund is too deep. Therefore, as an individual you are not suppose to be in the market during the stock market crash. Before or during the crash, reduce your holding.

4. If you are seeing this type of data on MSCI for the first time. You may need to verify the figures. Go to my previous posts (https://www.nairaland.com/yok/posts), you will see the various sources where the data can be verified.

Dear Oracle,
Your insight is as usual very deep!
I know you are doing very fine. God bless you.
I appeal you should not resume your GHOST MODE.
Your deep knowledge of markets should continue to benefit even those who are yet to stumble on this forum, if you continue posting.
I have chewed many rotten groundnuts in my life, but I have as a result stopped just throwing them in my mouth without inspection again.
Trading is one of the fewest disciplines where on sighting a pure market scenario, your whole knowledge base disappears until you finish messing up.
You can not estimate how many people you helped avoid losing their cash here and those your absence has caused some problems too.
Trading is the only discipline, apart from DIPSY'S ancient profession, that promotes empty emotions above realistic reasoning.
Kindly forgive us our offenses and deactivate your ghost mode. We will appreciate reading more from you.
We deeply value you and your insights.
Forums like this can many times be infected, we have to stay back and cure them, even if struck with e-ebola.

God bless you again.
