Nipost is expensive now. When I went to post to China in February, I was given a bill of 7700 for what I normally post with less than 1k. I was told the price has been reviewed upward.

In March I sent something to my school here in germany I bought stamp for 180. I was shouting how do they manage with such low prices.
When I went back in August that price became 1800 said it was their new price.

I just want to say that this is not even close to being true. I've gone to school in America, Canada and Germany. I processed all the admissions by myself. And I can tell you now that America has the most complicated restrictive process. Canada is simpler and Germany is the most straightforward. I started and finished my application within one week of the deadline. Got admission, booked my appointment, funded my account and did everything that needed to be done (without reading the almighty Nairaland thread that you are using to insult someone). You don't even know anything about the person and you have the gall to call them lazy? You need to get off your high horse. just because you read one thread on the internet you think you are more diligent than the person in question? You can help people without insulting them.

As for the scam. If I sell a loaf of bread for N50000 and my neighbor sells it for N50 and we bought it for N20 you will call that business shey?
Have you never heard of business ethics? There is a margin of profit that is acceptable, after that it becomes exploitation. It's because of people like you that this country is falling to pieces. You applaud 'smart' people that take advantage of others and call it 'business' then you cry when politicians make life hard for the common Nigerian.
Guess what, that's just 'business' too.

I want to understnd something. Lets analyze this situation. Your friend is in this forum as you said with access to Information and help from people here. Yet she decided to use an agent. The agent told her 300k for admission into Germany. She agreed to it, she didn’t consult anybody to know if the price range is reasonable. Now, she got admission which means the agent kept to his own side of agreement. The agent wants to get his full balance but she refused meanwhile they had an agreement. You are now calling the agent a scammer. Do you even know the meaning of a scammer ?

This shows you have a very low local mentality and if you and your so called friend doesn’t try to change it. I feel you guys will end of regretting it. You are talking about enthics. Here in berlin, I paid for a single room apartment for 512euros. I paid from Nigeria. So i arrived germany and saw that some people actually pay less than that amount in some hostels in Berlin. I realized that my hostel is more expensive than the others. I went for the expensive one because i was desperate and in need of accommodation b4 i arrive berlin.

Do you expect me to start calling my landlord a scammer because his hostel charges more than the others in berlin and he should refund me after we made an agreement?

Nobody gives a Bleep about enthics, whether in Nigeria or Germany. Its called business. The government won’t stop my landlord from fixing high price for his hostels. Its your choice whether to pay or not and make a contract once you pay. The problem in Nigeria is that we are not in the habit of making contracts. If that agent made a contract and your friend refused to pay up. Do you know she will be sued if she was in germany ?

So please next time you talk, try to be reasonable. Don’t come here crying foul after your friend bleeped up.

For you Information, its not only in Nairaland that Information about Germany can be gotten. I joined Nairaland aftter i got admission. So it’s possible that someone esle helped you or guide you during your application. USA and Canada admission is not complicated. You apply directly to their school. The only hard thing about these two countries is visa issues. As far as you have good result, getting admission in USA or canada is the easiest of them all. There is no much competition unlike Germany were millions of people apply to a single course all bcus of tuition free.

Stop being a fool and accept the mistake your friend made. Pay the poor agent his money and get the admission letter. You and your friend are the real scammers here.

Dankeschon:
I thank God for everything.

A lil advice for all who'll be heading to Deutschland in future:
Pls and don't come here on weekends, or better still don't leave Nigeria towards weekend (like Thursday or Friday); I really hear pepper.

I left our dear country on Thursday, missed my flight on transit, and had to spend an entire day at Turkish Airport (btw Turkish Airport is the most bubbling of all international airports I have been to).
All my funds were in my luggage, as well as my cards, so I was stranded, so I couldn't buy a new ticket, couldn't buy food, couldn't pay for Airport hotel, and couldn't go into town either. Thank God my phone was charged and credit loaded, so I called home (calls rates from here are crazy high), they bought a new ticket, which would leave the next day evening, but I was still stranded in terms of food and shelter. Thank God for a Nigerian woman I met at the Airport, she lived in Europe, was stranded too, but had no means of communications, she heard me blurting my local vanacular on Phone and pleaded to use my phone, which I gave her. We spent the next 24hrs in that Airport, she bought my meals twice, that's how I survived those 24hrs. Turkish Airport is alive 24hrs, it's like The Palms and Leisure Mall in one place, food and drinks everywhere; this 'livelyness' really helped me, there was never a dull moment.

I finally arrived here Friday night, slept at the closest hotel to the airport; I thought I could get into town, but when I got out of the airport doors, the freezing cold didn't even let me think correct. I was just shouting "Hotel, Hotel, Hotel" to all the Taxi men there. One of them finally pointed a hotel to me, and I ran like a mad man into the hotel.
I left for my town the next day hoping to settle into my accomodation. Lo and behold, my people, Saturday and Sunday here is like National Election day in Naija, you won't even see anyone outside, not to talk of paying for accomodation. The only places open are Train stations, Malls, and Petrol stations.

So I "jejely" lodged into another hotel, this time for two nights, till Monday, (the cold here alone wont allow u spend a minute outside). Thank God I came with my Dollar card, it has been so so helpful. My account officer also told me our Naira cards also works abroad, but I've not tried it yet, I don't want any embarrassment, and someone will start looking me one-kind-eye. Germany is a cash society, so I advise you come here with cash; I came with cash also, but only use it when they insist it must be cash. All my train Tickets were bought with my Card; my cash(€) is very "sacred", it rarely comes out.

Pls also try learn a lil Deutsch, cos if your case was like mine, hmmmmm.
I missed my stop in between train stops, but thank God, I had Deutsch upto B1, so I could ask for simple directions.

My advice(s) in summary;
1.Leave on a Sunday,Monday, or Tuesday (at worse Wednesday), except u have your accomodation already sorted out and settled.
2.Load your Nigerian line, as much as you can; this saved my 'life'.
3.Pls hold some Euros, no matter how small, you can never tell (me myself, I never believed that all the things that have happened to me these past four days could ever happen to me)
4.Just a lil Deutsch, even if it is "Guten Tag", or "Hallo".

So lemme now ask my question:
Pls and pls to those who have unblocked their Fintiba Account, how long does this take??
I opened an N26-Black Account(it comes with a monthly charge) back in Nigeria, and they've even sent my card, but I wasn't around to pick it, so it was returned. What else do I need to unblock my account? And how long exactly will it take?

You can travel any day, all you have to do is to make a proper and adequate planning. If you missed your connecting flight due to a fault that is not yours, you are entitled to a new ticket, meal and hotel accomodation if there is no flight on ground anymore till the following day. As a matter of fact, you can get compesation as high as €500 -800 for the delay if you wish to push it. Your cash and card should stay inside your cabin bag instead of other way round. N26 is supposed to be free if you pick standard card during registration. Paying monthly fee on it is like waste of money monthly. Welcome to Germany, msy you succeed in this land. Shalom

Please guys I wrote my WAEC in 2004 (poor result), graduated 2010 but now I'm using the GCE result which I wrote in 2012.

How do I reconcile this in my CV which I want to use for my applications?

This is not a problem. Use both certificates and also include them in your CV and the year you took them. It doesn't matter. Shalom

Yeah you can...

Just to encourage everyone. Stay steadfast on whatever your plans are and no matter the challenges you face, believe that you will overcome and smile.

Landed Germany in 2015 when the the trend just started and it took me and others 8months to earn my first Euro (blocked account Red), hustled and all but kept the faith. Today, I have the degree in hand grin and God has been really good grin grin grin.

@dolpaz got the brunt of the embassy and funding issues but today my man be getting accolades and offers left right and center. Man be balling. @Obiwann @Eke40Seven @nevilbot et al are varying case studies.

Keep at it! Hardwork pays!!!
8 months to earn your first euro? what took you so long? kindly share...others can learn from your experience and know how to plan ahead ..

There's nothing to appeal.

You have to book another Visa appointment with your new admission letter.
If your course is winter, you will have to wait till winter booking period which is usually around May/June.
If its summer, then go ahead and book another appointment ASAP.

Frankly speaking, Getting an engineering job from Nigeria is tough but doable. Alot would have to be considered.

First, you need to have good working experience with verifiable projects. For a German company to employ you from naija means they have not gotten any application from people within and around EU, hence the reason why they are considering your application. What makes it more challenging is the fact that the company have to go through the Job center (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) to register your coming, prepare the documents and give you a contract WITHOUT knowing what your deliverables are. I hope you get this.

Now, lets assume you have a contract, the dangerous part of the work visa applicant is that if the auslander/embassy rejects your visa application, you could also receive a ban for some number of months...(Yet to verify this though) so look through and weight your option. I'm not saying people dont get jobs from Nigeria. At least, I know 3 guys that came for IT jobs.

Moreso, you need to have a certain level of german language to help you with settling down.

Lastly, you can't use a conference/visit visa to work because its a short term thingy.

For you to work, you need a TaxID, Renten (Social insurance) which will never be given to a short stay visitor..

My advice, if you have the resources, apply for a student, integrate into the soceity and when you get a job here, you can change your permit to working visa.

I hope I'm able to communicate.

Gemeinsam sind wir starke

Very elaborate and helpful information. God bless you for this

Good news for those who intend to apply for the winter 2019 session. The PTDF scholarship for the 2019/2020 academic session has just opened and the 3 countries are France, Germany and the UK. For Germany, check out the list of Universities and courses here http://ptdf.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/GERMANY.pdf

Read the last part of the news that talk about exempting some countries with this clause "these nations are likely to include the countries of origin of many asylum seekers". If you know the number of Nigeria asylum seekers here, you will understand that Nigeria might be one of the nations they will exempt. But we pray and hope that it doesn't though. Shalom
