NIGERIA STOCK MARKET GENERAL COMMENT/MSCI NIGERIA PORTFOLIO MOVEMENT - AS AT 21 NOVEMBER 2018

MSCI portfolio is on long tern holiday. There has been no movement on the portfolio since 2nd October 2018.

Our main business for today is how to quantify opportunities in the market using best indicators available and keeping it simple as much as possible. I respect Jim Dalton (market profile indicator) so much when he confirmed that the retail investor are the losers in the market and will continue to be losers for the fact that many of them don't have the expertise to make it in the market. The market is so much tilted against them that before they even drop any money in the market their probability of making any gain is about 30% only (do you now see why you are losing money). One of the reason is that the retail investors has failed to master what is essential for winning in the market, we like sweet stories (did I hear Fugger, Buffet, Value investing, News etc!!! continue).

An essential element of what we need knowing is how to quantify our tools for the market and be totally methodical in our approach. We run away from this, as it is too much work. The holidays afforded me the opportunity to do what I have not been able to do for decades, scanned all the major stocks in the market to see those worth looking at and then quantify my result. To my surprise I was only able to come out with few equities, for this week that I can see good opportunities in “May and Baker, Fidelity and Nacho”. One of these days I may show our worksheet for this type of scan.

For Wednesday 21 October 2018 expected High is 32,290.59 low at 32,090.03

I am still relaxing with my Nahco trade, loss position as at Monday was 5.2%.

Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. Also, Institutions can afford to suffer big losses without going burst compared with an individual, you cannot follow them blindly (you need to at least have some knowledge/your own plan).

N:B

1. Due to the fact so many new people are coming to this forum and may not know this use of following the “big monies that move markets”, I will be indicating why/how to use the information. This will be a permanent future of my post to reduce some comments which may prevent the people that understand the system from confusion by people who have not followed how this started. My comment for today for anybody who doubts the efficacy of following the fund is to look at my recent recommendations for the past 2 months.

2. The fund will still hold some equity, the terms of service states this. Thus no matter the condition of the market, it will not liquidate to Zero. This is an equity fund investing in the Nigeria market.

3. You cannot bear losses like the fund. The pocket of the fund is too deep. Therefore, as an individual you are not suppose to be in the market during the stock market crash. Before or during the crash, reduce your holding.

If you are seeing this type of data on MSCI for the first time. You may need to verify the figures. Go to my previous posts (https://www.nairaland.com/yok/posts), you will see the various sources where the data can be verified.

This could be useful for some newbies in the house. Please note that it is just an analysis of selected stocks (cheapest according to PE) to guide your investment decisions.
Thanks for this table. Very nice job. It shows where to be.

Isso rite, kontinu. You are still talking of fundamentals considering all the looming challenges the economy might be facing. This election fever, other global markets and oil price issue na serious matter to watch out for. I am trying to moderate my expectations. Fcmbnow constitutes 36% of my portfolio with average cost price of 1.57, though waiting to cut loss if it gets to 1.45 before the end of the year.

fcmb is going back to N2. U need not bother ursef. The economy is not going bad. Oil will certainly rise again by december(already 2% up today) inflation is falling. Fx reserve is no longer falling as previous months, its only a matter of time before it starts rising again.

Don't be too sure of what oil will do. It is better to keep an open mind an have a plan in place for any eventuality.

My own focus is on oil price as I see other factors that have been mentioned here as noise.
If oil should enter into bear territory, na bye bye to NSE for me.....

If oil price is around 60 , we will not have problem as a country.

If it goes below 50, then ........
