if it hasn't worked yet, make more noise. Once upon a time Female Genital Mutilation was still a thing and it seemed the noise about it was useless, but it has been outlawed now.

[s]Women make more noise than men especially in the west, and that's why laws are tilting heavily in their favour now.[/s] Every revolution has started with seemingly inconsequential noise.
not in Africa, particularly nigeria. Don't compare the west with nigeria, that's the mistake many of you ldealist make.

I look down, I look up...does it matter? grin
I have this colleague that all his pants are like that. I will be sitting on my desk and he will come stand in front to gist. Pls, where would my eye level be?

I also have a female colleague whose dress sense I find very distasteful. I have addressed it severally but she just won't change. But as far as that market is concerned, it has nothing to do with your dressing. It does get worse when you expose some body parts though.

When you guys give this defense, it puts men in a very bad light. You portray men as animals who lack self-control, thus acting on instinct. Women buy into it, you start crying misandry and man hating. Like you guys are the only ones allowed to say shit about yourselves grin

Yea, that's true. I wonder why those guys are always sex starved...always trying to cure their konji by touching innocent girls.

When I say hostels, I am not talking of boys hostel. I mean those offcamp lodges.

If you don't like something, you look away.
That is what makes you a sensible human.

I get you, but i mean those places you mentioned are like home, the people you are with those places are very familiar people and like close friend.

This has got to be the dumbest protest ever!!!

What do this dimwitted lots aim to achieve, trying to incite people going about their businesses, to think they were chanting "Yaba boys stop touching us"

And those guys were just jesting, it's like going to the a bar and chanting "drunkards leave our daughters alone"

Too much holywood has caused this,

Quite frankky I actually wouldnt touch this not so good looking ladies even if I'm paid to.

Modified:
I even tried engaging one of them in a conversation, but they lack any sense of coherence, and are just very bitter, abusive and disrespectful ladies that lack home training.
It is good to know that you only harass good-looking women.
What do you hope to achieve by trying to engage one of them?
Tell them they should stop the campaign against sexual harassment?
What a scum!

When will you guys have sense to know that equality doesn't mean equal biological strengths or tendencies. You claim superior to women, can you birth a child?

Can you run a home as well as a woman?
Have you not paid a woman for a service in this your life?

Don't men also have male bodyguards?

Equality is equal opportunities... don't discriminate against people unjustly because of their gender. Jeez!!!
The typical aggressive woman. even when i stated i asked for fun, u already shipped in an insult. "will u guys have sense". That why it said most ladies or feminists dont know what they want. on one hand they talk about equality with men on the other it becomes equity when they are caught pant down. You dont know we wired differently biologically before feminists in USA are pushing for equal representation in offices...but am yet to hear them pushing for equal representation in combat role with men or doing heavy duty or tasking work.

Those yaba boys with their mouth may destroy their business in no time. They are barbaric set of ppl. With their mouth they made ppl stop buying a material they called akpo oche for a very long time. With their mouth, satin material too got affected as they sang up NEPA whenever they saw someone wearing it then. There biggest customers are ladies. See why I fear for them. Beings of no thinking faculty!

if so, women will be begging men to touch them in Nigeria. But how comes all our women married to wealthy men in Nigeria are so humble and almost voiceless.

Only the hungry or single ones are engaging in 'Notice me' mission.

#Frustration loading
You don't know the meaning of humble.
They don't speak because they have power.
If you touch them, you will surely spend your new year in jail.

It is just like asking why employed people don't join unemployment protest.

I happen to ply yaba route very well back in the days and I can tell that the decent dressed ladies are rarely touched but the guys will always touch those slay/indecent dressed ladies to bully. This protest should start with them " Ladies stop Immoral/slay/indecent Dressing".. Before " Stop touching ladies" and infact it should be rephrased to " Stop touch decent ladies"

I'm not the reason you aren't logical and educated enough to sense sarcasm, I don't support harassment in anyway, but I'm more upset with ladies using this to trend by conducting a fruitless protest, which logical reason was to taunt those traders and make video recordings of them, when they we clearly jesting, the real sufferers of harrasments do not see it as an avenue to trend

Women most times are the cause of their own problems... women are primary factors in maintaining morality and societal ethics . Charity they say begins at home... A mother refuses to train his son well, his son will probably grow up to abuse women in Yaba market in the future. It might sound absurd but it's all connected.
Xenocentrism is another chronic problem in our society today. We tend to copy from the Westerners including things we aren't supposed to. In a country like Nigeria with weak judiciary system, we are just not matured enough to condone certain kind of dressing in public. Nigerian's are not Americans, Nigerian's are communal, religious and upholds female decency and chastity very well. But you already know this... You know you will be gazed at, hissed at called names, groped and whatever But you still chose to dress indecently hoping that everyone you meet on your way will some how suddenly transform to an American and understand why it's your right and why you should be loved even though you are walking around in bra and minis THIS IS NIGERIA you aren't allowed to.. meanwhile a pry 5 pupil will see this same aunty and feels this is how a contemporary lady should look like and unknowingly recalibrate his standards and values and subsequently starts to objectify women in the future and probably assault a lady someday at Yaba market all because a woman feels she has a right to bare boobs...and the Yaba lady cries out mysoginist and patriarchy and that men should be less of a pig and bla bla..
.no man is born a misogynistic...educate our boy child too and he won't depart from it
Dress as you want to be addressed.... Men are visually wired (you already know this) a man sees your boobbs, he will sexually objectify you its natural, you can't fight nature..
My point are
Nigeria isn't mature enough for Feminism.... and it isn't coming any time soon... Don't waste your time
Dress properly if you want to be taking seriously and avoid unnecessary abuse...because not all men are mentally upright. It's better to stay safe than try to prove your right every time to fools..also consider the kids of your fellow women while dressing up too. If we want eradicate mysoginism in Nigeria, then we must all sacrifice together and strive to instill decency in our kids not by words alone but also by our actions

God bless us all

skipped the major socialization process that could have made an impact.

Do you think its easy penetrating the real Nigerian society? What do yaba boys understand as misogynism?illiterate boys.smh....wisdom and discretion is far from them

That's the point. They totally skipped that part. What does an average Nigerian even know about feminism? Having been inundated with the mostly -ve tales of how so called feminist women got their rights at the expense of the other gender? Who can they point out as a respected figure of feminism that practices their words & have +ve influence on the society as they know it? Linda? Psst!. Even Chima lives it out ABROAD. Imagine trying out this in Saudi Arabia? Even their protectors laugh & wink with the oppressors. Feminism true form builds up & supports society. At worse it promotes a healthy rivalry between genders. Not try to usurp & control for ulterior motives as it generally entails nowadays. Then it's no different from patriarchy. If they'd just followed due process like you outlined,no one would have dared lay a finger on them.

Which electrician did the wiring?
You people keep talking of wiring, if you see your mother, sister or daughter naked...would you go touch?

Go to hostels and you see guys moving about with boxers and their penees will be swinging from left to right like pendulum... Or the ones that just started gyming, they will be moving about without shirts, that is in addition to the swinging penees.

Or those trousers you guys wear that will pack all your crotch and I can totally outline your penees down to its cap...

Is all of the above a reason to harass any man? No it isn't. Women are also moved by sight, enough of that excuse from guys. We all love to see good things, but respecting the owner of that good thing is where self-control comes in.

You are actually replying him? Why bother? Guys like that think they can do anything to women without any consequences. They can freely rape or support rape with any number of silly reasons like : "after all she is not a virgin", "how can she have t0t0 without regularly servicing it", "she was really enjoying it and the shouting na for show". Seriously, the vast majority of Nigerian men have major problems. Until this is rectified and major sentences handed down to sexual offenders we will continue having lots of sexual harassment and sexual violence.

Incidentally, if you were to pay the visa and flight fee of the idi0t you just replied and took him to a nude beach in the states, how much are you willing to bet that he will respect himself when seeing thousands of naked women lounging and frolicking there? Why is this so? Because he knows the law will severely punish him if he tries something funny. The reverse is sadly the case here, and that is the sole reason why sick0s like him flourish

So you believe ladies asking not to be touched inappropriately isn't supported by Nigerian laws?

I really do not understand people's issues with feminism. A lady asked not to be groped and called demeaning names and all you think about is that 'Nigeria law does not support feminism'. If you think the protest was about feminism, yes it is because feminism preaches that ladies should have control over their bodies and not be touched without their permission. You should also know that it's their right to demand not to be touched inappropriately.
did ur own Nigeria law place women as of equal level with men What am saying is they should pass out information to those that will value it not taking it to the market where people there won't understand their plight.

Hey what those dudes did is absolutely reprehensible but you can close ur eyes to constant sexual harrassment men face daily from semi-nude ladies in our streets and societies. It abhorrent to culture of decency.

How is she harassing men

That men choose to be wild animals is not the fault of women going their own way.

There is nothing home in coming out of your room with an underwear (boxers). That I am familiar doesn't mean I want to see your manhood swinging. The most dangerous predators are those we are familiar with.
With the bolded, you know you are being economical with truth...i'm sure your own brother do wear boxers at home too, do u see the swinging pendulum? not really, but wearing what you should wear at home to market is another issue.

If it's all about indecent dressing and not gender. All those boys that sag with to the knees walking like demented apes with their smelly boxers nauseating everyone, why are they not harassing them and calling them names.

I'd answer your comment because you are reasonable not to be insulting. Thanks for the manner at which you placed your comment. Yes, there is no two name for indecent dressing. I would have talked about the smelly boxers sagging boys but the topic was about the ladies. I don't paint white to be black. Good is Good and bad is bad. Normally those boys sagging are not being seen as a decent/responsible boys. Even the police will pick up the sagz boy over a decent dressed guy in a crime scene. I maintain my point the protest should have been " stop indecent dressing"

Isn't the market where the protest held where they are assaulted regularly? Would you rather they protested in VI or FESTAC?

What do you even mean by 'they should pass the message to those that will value it'? A group of uncouth men in a market are harassing ladies and those ladies took a protest to THAT market to express their displeasure and you say they should pass the message to those that will value it? Is it me that doesn't harass ladies that they should have come to?

Weren't the so called men harrasing the women at this same supposed work place?
