Good day guys...
I would like to ask a question to clarify some things...
I haven't started the process yet because the PA is going to be bae... and ASUU delaying the conclusion of the programme.

Now to my question... if she applies single, she'll definitely be in the 470+ range.. but we've decided to go the married way which will eventually bring the CRS to around 445.
I am planning on doing ECA to give extra 8 points... But I was thinking writing IELTS instead would add more points like 16+ points.
The main question is this... Will ECA be needed in Cannie land when applying for jobs? Or my certificates would be enough?

You said alot of nice stuffs but spoilt it with the bolded. Really?? Hmmmmn...... People have come here to say ielts humbles one.. Yes it does. If you have enjoyed Grace, give thanks to whom it's due not to come and make it seem peeps are exaggerating. That Jay that u referred to, people have studied it in and out and are still battling with success in ielts. It's not just about the student, what about the examiner? The person who will mark A script can be different from the one for B and these two people are with different views. How legible a student is can also affect...... Please just appreciate what you have and be thankful

You obviously got me wrong. I do not intend to undermine people's efforts nor appear ungrateful. I found IELTS simpler than I anticipated and I do not think there is anything wrong in expressing that view. As a matter of fact, I believe it will help those yet to write to relax and concentrate more. Given that a lot of people have done it multiple times, those yet to write would naturally be nervous at this time and I think anything to calm them down would be welcomed. While a lot of factors could affect one's result like you rightly said, walking into the exam without panicking will still go a long way in ensuring a more natural output from the candidate; a factor to which I attributed my success up there. So saying that IELTS is simpler than it appears is not far from the truth. I am sorry if that expression does not sit well with you.

Thanks for the congratulations.

There’s nothing wrong with what he said. People are different and that’s the way she/he wants to encourage people, please leave him/her alone.

He actually quoted you out of context. It's a good message to pass across to those intending to write their exam soonest. It is an obvious fact that the exam is simple, yet it still humbles a lot of people.

For the first timers, when they have it in their subconscious that it's simple, with proper preparation, they can ace it once.

With the IELTS panic mode on this thread, some new comers will go into the exam hall defeated.
May God help us all in the pursuit of our dreams.

Spouse would not need IELTS, dont waste d 75k. But for the ECA, it might be needed for certain job requirement or course application.

If I were you, I will apply as single as advised.. And still ask fiancee to do ECA and IELTS if possible. So if needed in the future it will be handy..[/quote]

Hi. You might need to read up more. Your options are many.

1. ECA is generally not a requirement for jobs.
2. Some professional bodies in some regulated NOCs require ECA, but might not be WES. You need to check with the regulatory body of your field.
3. If you read the past few pages of the thread, you will find that you don't need Ielts or ECA if you can modify your plans a little.

I am a really silent reader on this thread and i have just been absorbing information from page 1, Part 5.
This IELTS journey has really been a trying one, especially for my husband who is the PA.
Ah! He wrote thrice, even applied for remarking the second time to no avail!
woke up this morning to the fantastic news from MOD. We finally sailed through. I can't wait to jump into the pool.
God really came through this time around and we can't wait to begin this journey to PPR.

FIRST ATTEMPT(BC)- LRWS - 8.5, 8, 6, 6.5
SECOND ATTEMPT (IDP) LRWS - 9, 8.5, 6.5, 8.5

Most of your questions have been answered on page 1, but I’m in a good mood today:
1) you can’t include them as your dependents (except if they’re underage and you’ll have to adopt them formally or something, not sure) You’ll only fill their details under family history. You can add your fiancée after AOR
2) if you mean your siblings then no!
3) transcript has to be sent from the school in sealed envelope with the university’s stamp on seal across the flap
4) you have up till your medical expires or your passport expires whichever comes first
5) you have to sponsor yourself, you can ask them to gift you the money
6) check page 1

thanks so plentiful for the insightful response boss. God continue to pave way for you too

To be candid, I've read more than enough and have structured a plan I think is fair enough.
I am in a regulated NOC (Civil Engineering to be precise) and I'm still trying to avoid WES even though I'm sure they're the one responsible for APEGA. I don't want anything that would delay by the time I am ready to fire on. ICES is on the card though I know its WES I need.

About the modifying.. I understand perfectly well going through the single routine but this was a decision made by the two of us since getting married would also bring the required scores for ITA going by the current trends of 445-449.
More so, she would love to acquire her passport once and for all in my name.

She would definitely use ICES for her ECA by the time she's done with her masters in Unilag (currently done with final exams, project submitted... ASUU) delaying the conclusion part.

I would also like to ask this question... How soon after final project defense would transcript and probably statement of result can be ready to start ECA process? Unilag is the school.

Unfortunately, If you live in Nigeria, you must probably would get a remed request. Your first MED date was my AoR. Got Re med 3weeks ago.

By the mercies of God, you would be fine.

Appreciated! Your reply though sort of indicates you don’t have PPR yet?(for over a year?)

Wow! Fingers crossed the request for the new Meds is leading to a positive conclusion very shortly . All the best!

How organized was the test at IDP Kano, was writing material provided for you by IDP or you brought in yours? Did you use ear phone for listening or was it through speaker? Please give info on the general conduct of the exam at the centre. Thank you.

Thanks for the advise..

I think i need to drop my ielts story as I feel some people will motivated and get their desired score.

Background : I am not a lover of english bother professionally and in my day to day interaction. I failed 2 attempts of ielts writing through BC. So I figured out listening and writing were my major challenge, as I did not even practise well during those attempt.

Strategy : For my third attempt i registered with MOD given myself one month of preparation. Then i solved through the Cambridge 1-13 test. I must confess that is harder than the real exam.

I brushed up on other writing; using liz and Jay video.

Test day 12/01/2018 : I maintained 100% attention and was able to pick out the answer ( I will say this was partly due to a cool environment as we were just 21 candidate for the exam (IDP Kano).

For writing : task one was what i could relate to. I ensured i did not miss out any area on the outline of the task. For section 2, I notice i did not have vocabulary to start changing word but i did not miss any of this steps.

1. Define or recap the issue you were ask to talk about.

2. Take a clear position in summary or listing (supporting view, advantages etc)

3. Buttress on the one you not supporting in summary or listing (opposing view, disadvantages)

4. Pick out 2 and 3 and explain in details with examples.

5. Reaffirm you position ( conclusion).

This gave me a 7 in writing. I hope this can inspire someone not to give up .

It shall end in praise

Understood.

If you are using APEGA, it might be easier to use WES once and for all so you can just pay for conversion later. But if you have the dough, shoot your shot and do both.

I don't know about Unilag, but generally once Senate approves your results, then statement of results and transcripts can be applied for, then you can start.

All the best.

The choice is yours my brother. You can wait till next year, but be aware that things might change next year and the CRS score may sky rocket.. You never know.. You don't know when ASUU will call of this strike and assuming ASUU calls off the strike today.. It will take at least 2- 3 months before she will conclude her masters. Add 2- 3 months for ECA. You are looking at going into the pool in July - August.

Whereas if you apply now, both of you may get PR before August..

My wife is still using her maiden name and we plan to change her name when we get to Canny land.

Having said that, the final decision is yours.. Good luck brother.. In all it will end in praise..
