Lool... people were buying DB and someone asked why. I told you why. CBN is about to ......"approve the acquisition of D by A".
O boy... you smart na.... how can you claim to be a trader if you expect to be spoon fed.

Doesn't add up!

don't be surprised that everything would have been priced in. the market seem to be a step ahead of all of us here.. the reaction sequent to that deal was d plunging to 61k. the deal was not made public until now. that's my calculation though I may be wrong.
am I being proved right by today's price action?

Exactly, if you know something and you don't want to talk, then don't announce to people that you know something, but you don't want to talk about it.
That's kind of sneaky to me. After all is said and done, what will be will be. It's the same argument I have had in the Treasury bills group regarding the strength of our naira. Time will tell who is right or not. Simple!

NIGERIA STOCK MARKET GENERAL COMMENT/MSCI NIGERIA PORTFOLIO MOVEMENT - AS AT 14 DECEMBER 2018

For Monday 14 December 2018, expected High is 30,762.02 low at 30,575.81

With this Access/Diamond news in the air, this is a time to slow down and see how the market will react this week.

Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. Also, Institutions can afford to suffer big losses without going burst compared with an individual, you cannot follow them blindly (you need to at least have some knowledge/your own plan).
N:B

1. Due to the fact so many new people are coming to this forum and may not know this use of following the “big monies that move markets”, I will be indicating why/how to use the information. This will be a permanent future of my post to reduce some comments which may prevent the people that understand the system from confusion by people who have not followed how this started. My comment for today for anybody who doubts the efficacy of following the fund is to look at my recent recommendations for the past 2 months.

2. The fund will still hold some equity, the terms of service states this. Thus no matter the condition of the market, it will not liquidate to Zero, unless the fund is exiting from the particular Country involved. This is an equity fund investing in the Nigeria market. The date displayed may not be the actual date of purchase/sale of equity (this is lega and allowable under the regulations guiding funds operations in general).

3. You cannot bear losses like the fund. The pocket of the fund is too deep. Therefore, as an individual you are not suppose to be in the market during the stock market crash. Before or during the crash, reduce your holding.

4. If you are seeing this type of data on MSCI for the first time. You may need to verify the figures. Go to my previous posts (https://www.nairaland.com/yok/posts), you will see the various sources where the data can be verified.

Access bank is leveraged themselves already. Anyone thinking they can't come crashing down doesn't know anything. They are not too big to fail. If it was Gt bank or stanbic or Zenith bank doing this, it would not still have been okay to me. But oh well! We shall see.

You do, as a member of this forum.
No matter the information you have, information is subject to change without notifications first.
You can do an analysis based on that information, people will contribute and debate, it will evoke further analysis and research and at the end, everybody will chose his button (SELL/BUY/HOLD) after being better informed.
This is the whole essence of this forum!

Was Skye not acquiring other banks as well before all became obituaries?
Not all those banks were healthy as people thinks. Who would have thought diamond would go before the likes of Unity and Wema self?

What do you expect SEC and NSE to do? CBN is the direct regulator of the banking sector. SEC/NSE are capital market regulators and deal more with capital market rules. Its not against capital market rules for a company to make loss. As long as the bank continue to meet listing and other capital market rules, SEC and NSE will not intervene. The direct responsibility for banks is with the CBN. It is CBN that fix CAR and other ratios and also sanctions banks that fail to meet those ratios.
Diamond's current issues relate to there ability to continue to meet those ratios in the nearest future.

The job of SEC and NSE is to protect investors, by enforcing their rules on corporate governance and regular reporting

For example Skye bank has been having corporate governance issues the SEC and NSE kept quiet until CBN intervened.

Same thing happened to Diamond bank and NSE/SEC kept quite.

So what is SEC/NSE doing?

Further to this media article, on October 25th the CEO further sent letters to the 4 NEDs purporting to accept their resignation. The Company Secretary also posted a notification of the resignation of the 4 NEDs on the NSE issuers’ portal and finally the CEO sent a letter from the CBN which was addressed to him and in which the CBN accepted the resignation of the 4 NEDs and instructed the CEO to find replacements.

Since then there have been media reports with varying renditions of the facts.

This letter has been necessitated by the following:

The seeming lack of regulatory / procedural clarity regarding the purported resignation of four directors to which it is important that the three regulators; CBN, SEC and NSE jointly or severally make a pronouncement directly to the bank on these matters having now been apprised of the facts in the foregoing and other consultation they may have had.
The need to maintain corporate governance in the bank and protect the interest of all the shareholders of the bank.

Our Prayers

That all regulatory bodies copied in this letter objectively review the foregoing and address this matter promptly in a manner that restores confidence not only in Diamond bank as an entity but in the financial system as a whole.
That the said regulatory bodies continue to support the Board of Diamond Bank in discharging its fiduciary responsibility in protecting the interests of all shareholders and stakeholders.
That the Board be allowed to convene the Board strategic meeting as planned for Q4 2018 to discuss the above matters and decide the way forward.

Opportunity is staring some in the face they refused to grab it now.
Even if it's not true, NSE is not going anywhere, one can still buy after everything is sorted and there is clear direction.
Don't be surprised that 735i sold already. grin

Truth be told, some people here live on the stock market for survival as a way of self employment and if someone like you that has been here for ages now start bad mouthing a stock with information such as diamond bank, trust me these newbies will loose their investment as a result of panic selling based on what you have said about the stock ab initio

let us all be on the encouraging side rather than calling peoples investment "paper money"

peace!
