oshoala might just win the African best again this award is popularity award and she's the most popular female footballer in Africa right now with many endorsement deals her brands might just buy it for her .
Thembi Kgatlana would win it.

I don't think so except CAF want to be biased. On what criteria will she win it?

Exactly 5 matches should not decide who win the Award

Kgatlana won the Cosafa women championship with South Africa also, again she played in the Cyprus cup and scored one of the goals for South Africa in the game they won( a crucial win that placed them third in a tough group), she was valuable for South Africa in that tournament as they did well. This is in a Calendar Year where Nigeria played only a single friendly game losing 8-0 to Frances.
Thembi Kgatlana now play in the American league and though not as effective as she is in the national colours, she has managed to make herself a key member of the squad.
l'll ask you then, what did Oshoala do for Arsenal ladies in 2016 when she won it?
What has Ebi done apart from the AWCON to deserve it? l know ordega was key for Washington spirit sometime this year, but even then Washington Spirit (and Ordega) haven't been at their best this year like in other years/ seasons.

Lol cosafa is regional tournament and the Cyprus cup is just like playing friendlies its not an official tournament what did she achieve with her club side where she plays week in week out how many goals ? how many assist ? women if the match ? trophies?

Tournaments like Cosafa and Cyprus cup are very important in the African women football world, especially in years where majority of the teams can go on without playing a single game.
What did Oshoala acheive with Arsenal ladies in 2016? Onome Ebi? why does she deserve to win it ahead of Thembi Kgatlana?
Give me the full stats of Ordega for her club this year as well, and even though Ordega was our best at the AWCON, Kgatlana was more valuable to her South African side in that tournament and was the top scorer.
Also you cannot underestimate the Cyprus cup( friendly or not) and the goal she scored in a crucial win that saw South Africa rise a little in the fifa ranking around June this year.

cosafa and the Cyprus tournament performance don't count in this award the matches are like friendlies do u even know kgatlana was no eligible to play in cosafa because she is not home base south Africa broke the rule because they are the host

In 2017, South Africa won the women team of the year( where there was no Awcon), why because of Cosafa.
So tournaments like Cosafa or WAFU may not count in the men's game but unfortunately they do in the women's game.
ln 2018 and even 2017, Malavwian Tabitha Chawinga had a better club performance than Oshoala, but understandably Oshoala would always be ahead of her because Oshoala plays for Nigeria in Awcon tournaments.
So national team assignments are more crucial in the women's game than they are in the men's game.

in the year under review
oshoala - a league title , a cup final , Awcon trophy , with load of goals
Ebi- she has been massive for her club side in China and won the Awcon trophy to cap the good year she had

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by isan(m): 12:38pm On Dec 16, 2018
south Africa won the best team in 2017 not because they are the best they were never the best and will never be but because they are the most active playing a lot of games in 2017 that's why they won it

You are helping me make my point, look closely, they are also the most active in 2018.
My Point is that women's football in Africa has been so neglected by CAF and the various national football bodies to the extent that tournaments like Cosafa, wafu, etc have become important yardsticks for national teams. ln the women's game also, club football is not so readily televised or followed like in the men's game.
Again South Africa has always been the most active African team yearly in the past few years. You can only judge the best for a particular year by the games they play.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by isan(m): 1:09pm On Dec 16, 2018
wafu and cosafa are good tournament for female football in Africa but should not be the yardstick to choose the best player in Africa what u have done all year ..kgaltlane already got her reward for good performance in Awcon which getting nominated for the award but that is where it end she cannot win the africa best oshoala and Ebi had a better year...@daejoyoung

ln the men's version you would easily give this to Oshoala but not in the women's game.
Tabitha Chawinga did way better in Sweden than Oshoala(in China) in 2017 and was even ranked way higher than Oshoala amongst the best 100 female footballers in the world.
The Malavwian was amongst the best 30, in a pool where Oshoala ranked 67th, they were the only two Africans on the list, but guess what
Tabitha Chawinga wasn't even considered amongst the Top three in the CAF awards while Kgatlana who did nothing at club level was considered based, on Cosafa women championship alone and South African friendlies in the year 2017.
ln the men's football world, a player like Tabitha Chawinga( just like Aubameyang) would certainly be more popular to Africans than a Kgatlana, but this is not the case in the women's game.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by isan(m): 1:17pm On Dec 16, 2018

Well l agree Oshoala deserved it in 2017, but you know these awards aren't consistently highly based on club performance like in the men's game.
But then let's wait and see.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Danielnino00(m): 3:51pm On Dec 16, 2018
If not for Oshoala's below par performance at the AWCON, there would be no debate as to whether she deserves it or not...She's been playing well at her club..Better than Kgathlana...

In 2017, Nigeria wasn't active in women football while South Africa were..and yet Oshoala won the award based on her club form...
I don't see why she shouldn't win it again...Even with her poor performance at the AWCON she scored three goals and a couple of assists....

Super Falcons Set To Tango China, Korea, Canada

December 17, 2018

The female national team, Super Falcons will on January 14 fly out to China, where they are billed to compete in a four-nation  invitational competition to kick-start their preparations for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Footballlive.ng learnt further that, after playing Canada, South Korea and China in the competition next month, the Falcons will in April also participate in a similar event in Cyprus.

After that, they will move to the same camp  the Super Eagles used for their Russia 2018 build-up in Austria for the final lap of preparations for France 2019.

NFF president, Melvin Amaju Pinnick confirmed plans for the Falcons’ France 2019 build-up programme, as he stressed that The Glasshouse top shots are all determined to see the excel at the World Cup.

Pinnick stated further that the NFF are committed to the development of women’s football and that the team will get the best of preparations ahead of the World Cup.

He stressed that the NFF are working so hard to ensure the girls get the best of preparations heading into the Female Mundial in France.

Pinnick said: “There are only two free windows before the World Cup, but we decided that instead of playing friendly matches the team will embark on an invitational tournament to boost their preparations.

“I can confirm to you that come January 14 the team will be heading to Asia where they will play (in a four-nation competition).

“(There, they will play) the likes of Korea who happen to be in our group, China and Canada who are among the biggest nations when it comes to women’s football.”

Forward. She played on the right in the Aiteo cup final but I believe she can play 9 also because she has the size.
