Same question asked almost all of the time... Same answer I will always give.

You don't have a job because the skills you have are already saturated...

Believe me, you have no special skill in your armoury...

1. Ability to work under pressure, bla bla bla... All those are bullshit.

Real skills like Web Design/Development is what you need.

Mobile App Development... Software development...

Graphics Design...

All these will make you rich within the space of 6 months!!!

Do you wanna get started?

Let me show you how you can end this year and start 2019 with a BANG!!!

Hello! Does it mean if one does not have this much (400k) one can't start up?
ynotsadeek:
Here's my own 2kobo advice;

Start Agency Banking Business.

I'll share my own story to help you get a better idea.

I schooled in Delta and served in Kwara. After service I simply stayed behind cos I knew I had nothing to go back to in Delta.

My PPA then happened to be so far from main town, with transportation cost averagely about #700 to and from from the town.

So, I saw the opportunity in this, which was;

1. No banks in my PPA community.
2. Tfare to and fro from the nearest bank in town is about 700h
3. Good power supply in the community
4. Free accommodation as per I was a good Corper during my service year so I had good relationship with the school I served and the indigenes.

Hence, I rented a shop. 1,500h per month, bought 3 plastic chairs, printed 2 banners and with my Android phone I was in business.

Next I registered as an Agent with several agency banking companies, installed their App and started doing Cash Withdrawals/Deposits/Transfers, Dstv sub payments, Airtime sales, NEPA prepaid payments. I don't even have POS machine yet oo, just using my Android phone for now.

In all I spent about 30k to setup, and with savings of 400k, I had enough cash for those coming to withdraw.

Right now I make about 3k daily from service charges and I work even on Sundays.

I hope this helps. It's 3:30a.m here so its back to bed now. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Please I need link to the free online courses

Free things they purge...
I did my HSE program during my service, quite cheap tho.. HSE 1, 2 and 3 ..from a verified Institute for just 15k.. It was cheap because I was a Corper then...
My friend did one online free HSE course, they sent him the certificate via email.. He printed it out, he got a link to go work for a big firm in Lagos, Lo and behold he was bounced back, cause the certificate wasn't recognize and certified..
My best advice is that you save some money and take any course from a certified Institute

I finished my NYSC in 2016 at the age of 27yrs and since then I have been teaching in a primary school here in Ilorin with a salary of 20k hoping that one day I will see a befitting job, it's over 2yrs now without a job. I can't continue with this teaching again because it has been hell right from day one and I'm not getting any younger cos I'm 29yrs.

The problem right now is that the guy I have been squating with wants me to leave his house because he will be getting married soon . Within this 2yrs I have been teaching, I was able to save up to 250k because I engaged myself in some extra lesson after closing, sometines I starve myself to have savings and also because I dont pay rent.

Now I'm confused about what to do, whether I should use the money for accommodation , or use the money to start a physical business (buying and selling) or use the money to acquire ICT skills ( if there will be job after the skill acquisition) or maybe I should just go for my masters.

Pls nairalanders your humble brother really needs solid advice on how to go about this.
First things first, get a new laptop if you don't have one. Don't buy a second hand laptop if light supply is not top notch where you live. Can you write? Start freelance writing. Check job and vacancy session for people who need freelance writers. Ensure you have samples of your writing. That 250k you saved in a year, I save in four months plus my reckless spending, tithing and dropping for the family. I look back at my life and wonder why I didn't get a laptop while I was in school. Whatever you want to do, get a laptop first. The world is digital. And when someone contacts you to write, ensure they pay upfront or try search their name on nairaland search to know their reputation so they don't scam you.

Its not about it being "free" per se.Its about the quality of the certificate you are going for.Theres no way you are getting bounced if you are holding a Microsoft,Google and CCNA certificate.In fact,Google gives certificates for Google Analytics and Google adword so far as you pass the exam and the exam is free and as i said Google is a top brand that no employer will easily bounce you so far as you hold their certification

All in all,to obtain the likes of Microsoft certifications,you will have to pay a good amount for the exams alone as they don't come cheap

First and foremost, do not contact anybody from this site or drop your email or phone number. Most Nigerians are hungry animals and will rip you off that 250k you saved already! You have been warned. Simply go through advices and pick the ones that best suit your life.

As an aside, Please do not pay any stuppid tithe neither should you buy any stuppid Keke. Keke Business is almost saturated and you will be harassed on a daily by touts and passengers!

You have some options now. Two of the answers are already here.

First and foremost, why not open a lesson centre from the money you have already? You can even teach adults as per adult education. You can also teach a large number of your school pupils as per afternoon lessons.

Go and learn barbing in your area ASAP! Relocate to a low cost city like Onitsha or Ibadan and open a Salon! With a Salon, you have solved two problems. Housing and Salary because you will also be sleeping there. That means that rent is off the case. Wake up early morning and baff somewhere. Find a way to shitt and also feed. It mustn't be Onitsha. Lagos is ok too. But why I didn't mention it is because unless you have someone or a relative in Lagos... You may suffer accommodation issues!
I swear.

Another great option is to learn driving ASAP! Find someone to teach you expert driving because the cities you will be driving in requires such. Also start processin drivers licence immediately if you dont have one! When you are done learning, come to Naira land here and request for a car. Pray to God to find a good partner who may also give you temporary accomodation in Lagos! Sign up on Uber and Taxify and start driving! You will be seeing your daily feeding money at least! Thats it.

The third option is for you to start clothes business with some money you saved. Mind you, don't invest all. Come to Onitsha with like 80-100k. Buy cheap okirika clothes and start selling in schools around you! With the said amount above, You can buy clothes that will fill 7-8 Onions bags. You can also buy cheap party china wears. From your description, you seem to stay in an area not too developed. So I guess, they wont know the difference. Carry your clothes around and sell in schools, universities and colleges of educations. Also go around school hostels shouting "Things For Sell". It pays a lot.

Fifth and Final option is use some part of the money and buy a laptop if you don't have one already. Start Yahoo Yahoo! It maybe long before you pick but if Satan is on your side, a good maga will change your story forever. I don't want to say God because God does not like evil! Am just being realistic bro.

But never ever go for masters! Its useless. There is little or no white collar job in Nigeria now. The few available ones either pay peanuts or the high paying ones need connection to get! Don't learn any useless computer skills! You may remain hungry Don't become a Keke driver! You will suffer! Think big and become big!
U said it all bro, supported best advice

I must confess I am impressed with how you are trying hard to be a better person and how you wish improve your living standard. What I will advise is you go out there and acquire a skill , n am not talking of being a computer literate or operator. Decide on a skill of your choice, I bet it will help you start up n possibly get u a job in no time. For me when I finished as a computer science graduate, I really wasn't interested in IT and so I learned how steel welding , and auto CAD and today I own my own CNC machines and a steel construction company.
Some of the skill you can learn today considering that fact that Nigeria is fast developing in fabrication,construction and mordern engineering.
* Steel welding
* Electrical wiring n security
* Machining ( CNC , lathe, milling etc)
* Plasma and laser designs in steel , glass n wood works
As I speak to you , there are very few persons in Nigeria most especially among our youths that are interested in these things and if there are how grounded are they? Please develop yourself fast and best believe in few months things will change for the better.
Another thing I will like to share with you is , you should leverage on the fact that people do not like to pay non professionals, engage in free jobs , once you have identified a skill , go there n tell them you will work for free while you learn n trust me the employer will gladly take u in.
It's easy for me to say all these cos I did the exact same thing after my service in 2014.

You must be a serious person to have saved up to that amount out of your small pay. I love people like you. I was there some years back. If you have somewhere to stay in Lagos that is not too far from Mushin, I can help you to find somewhere to stay at ladipo market where you can learn trade and still get daily money if you know how to convince customer to buy market.

Bro, with the little money you have, see if you can go and register with Lotto company. They will give you this their red machine. You get a sales girl. Buy this MTN umbrella, buy chairs like three, buy table. The gamblers will play. Later you go online and send the results. You get your commission per day etc. There is a way the do it. My friend is into it. Its paying him heavily.

He does not play but he keeps making the money through the profit he makes from the gamblers. Give it a shot.

I admire your ability to save that money from your income. That being said, be careful. The pieces of advice littered on Page 1, some are genuine, some; not so much.

My major concern is how you could stay in a job for 20k for that long.

How long did your friend give you to pack out?! And what degree do you have?

You may want to think about acquiring some certifications in your teaching line that are very useful for other schools that recognize the value of teaching. I know most big schools in Abuja and Lagos pay up to 120k for a start, in addition to other allowances. I can direct you to some free ones online that you can even do with a mobile phone. Most of these big schools in Abuja also give accommodation for their staff. I am certain big schools in Lagos also do.

I know accommodation in Abuja, areas like Lugbe, Kubwa, Zuba etc. have very low houses that are around 100k. I don't know about Lagos. But I'm sure it should be same.

Then take the Uber and Taxify option.

But that one should be for when you have closed from school (maybe from 8:00 PM - 2:00 AM). Because you'll need to look sharp and rested for work that starts at 7:00AM.

Lessons in Abuja pay as much as 8k per contact or even more. They don't do monthly, they do contact. So opportunities still exist for teachers, but you must be very good at what you do.

Combine both the teaching and Uber. With time, you will even abandon one for the other.
Hi,pls can you link one up to those courses or online courses and how to go about getting a teaching job in Abuja?

Relocate to big city and get an ashawo as a girlfriend. These girls are making money. She will accommodate you, feed you, support you financially and you'll also be fvcking her toto for free! cheesy

I mingled with these girls during my difficult days as a graduate. Most of them have savings running into millions and they don't even know what to do with it.

If you have "sweet mouth" she can even entrust her life savings to you to start up something.

I passed through this road and today I have different businesses and some millions breathing in my account.
