PhD no dey get problem if you are well funded. My classmate wasn't even asked any question, the woman just said what course, he answered, next thing visa is approved. How many Americans want do PhD and PhD is the real research, masters research na short research.

$2019 what a coincidence

I got mine immediately, I just went to check the history of visa payment on my internet banking and it was there. Clicked it and printed it.

Has anyone ever paid their visa fee through GTB online (internet banking) platform? How long does it take before one gets the receipt number when paying through the online means? Is it actually after 3 PM on the following banking day?

Hey guys here is a quick one! need an urgent advice for a friend

He has been denied visa 3 times in the last 6 months. twice during fall and once during spring.

below is his interview transcripts

First Interview

Consular: Good morning

Me: Good morning

Con: May I have your passport and I-20?

Me: *passed it

Con.: What do you want to study

Me: Msc in Animal Science

Con. Why do you wanna study that course?

Me: I'm a trained veterinarian and my interest lies with infectious and zoonitic diseases. I've worked extensively on Low pathogenic Avian influenza virus in the south west and written a paper on it surveillance and the possibility of an antigenic shift from low pathogenicity to high pathogenicity. As a Vet. I always prefer to prevent than cure and thus my interest in further understanding the science of animals (husbandry, nutrition and management) which my curriculum do not completely cover, and this will help me in helping humans contact several zoonotic preventable diseases.

Con.: How did you know about Texas A&M?

Me: Through a friends and classmates that studied there

Con.: Tell me their names

Me: Adetunji Shakirat, Olukanni Ademola, Toreeq Mustapha

Con. *types... But these people are attending Texas A&M college station?

Me: Yes, except Demola who attended commerce

Con. So how can people from College Station recommend commerce

Me: They recommended A&M in general, I picked my choice of commerce because I found a supervisor that is willing to work with me in the name of Prof. Randy Harp who is the HOD of College of Agriculture.

Con.: How do you plan to support yourself?

Me: I have a Schorlaship of over $10,000 and I'll support the rest myself.

Con. : Can I see your account statement?

Me: *hands it over

Con.: You are short of $2,000 from this account, you have $24,000. How do you plan to complete this?

Me: I have a company that is running and ..... *cuts me short

Con. : Are you married?

Me : Yes, with a handsome boy.

Con: *Types for a while...

Sorry, I cannot approve your application........

Vo: Good morning

Me: Good morning

Vo: i-20 and passport please

Me: *passed it

Vo: What do you want to study?

Me: Msc animal science

Vo: Why?

Me: *Said almost same thing with in first interview

Vo: How do you plan to sponsor yourself?

Me: I have $10k schorlaship, then my dad is ready to fund the remaining.

Vo: Are you married?

Me: Yes

Vo: Do you have kids?

Me: Yes, a boy

Vo: Sorry I can't approve your application

The only thing i can deduce from his interview that lead to his denial is the sponsorship part, don't know if i am wrong ...

Now here is a recent development. He has decided to give it another trial and his interview is this week, he was offered a GA by his department just last week only if he resumes this spring 2019 with an official letter to support it. so i would like to ask the Gurus what they think about this recent development? can this letter in anyway help him secure his visa ? i mean can that stand has a change of circumstance since the last time he was there?.... Another concern is that the specific GA Benefits which should include i think his monthly stipend was not included in that letter...

i have now successfully attached the letter... please @fairheart @lagosismyhome anyother person that can assist on this pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

With this information, I may recommend some schools that fit your profile.

I assume you've not taken the GMAT, so I won't ask for that.

Great!
Here are my recommendations.

1. Take the GRE and study hard for it. At this point, I wouldn't want you to worry about schools - worry more about getting a high GRE score. I'm suggesting GRE because I'm assuming you are considering a role in Corporate Finance and not Investment Banking. If you're considering Investment Banking, then it will require more effort as you will need to ace the GMAT with a 90+ percentile score and also invest significantly in networking.

2. Your undergraduate in geology makes you a non-traditional applicant to an MBA. It may be a good thing if you leverage that in your essays. B-schools need diversity, and I don't think they have many geologists in their application pool.

3. Two years work experience is quite on the low side for an MBA. MBA is not a degree for entry-level roles. So, I'll suggest you work towards Fall 2020 and by then, you should have 3 years of work experience which isn't bad.

4. While selecting programs, I will advise you to be open to programs that will give you added skills such as marketing, healthcare management, and analytics. It makes you more versatile and more competitive on the job market. You can do this by selecting dual degrees or by choosing concentrations in those MBA programs.

5. I will recommend UND's Mendoza MBA/MSBA dual degree (STEM), Arizona State MBA, Rochester's Simon B-School (they have a STEM concentration) and Penn State's Smeal MBA. The STEM programs are better in terms of work opportunities because they allow you more chances for the H-1B.

6. If you check carefully, these schools are among the top 50 B-schools in the US and they give significant financial aid for these programs. Those that are not within the top 50 should be very close to top 50. Don't (I repeat, DON'T) apply to a >80th ranked MBA program even if you get full funding. Brand and network is the game in b-schools and your career chances are very very tough when you attend those programs.

7. That should be all.
