Pls I live in Abuja...my interview is coming up soon..I don't know Lagos..who can recommend a hotel that is a walking distance both to Qlife and the U.S. consulate
Qlife is not a walking distance from the embassy. So it's not possible to get a hotel that's walking distance to both venues. But you can get hotels in between the two venues. However I recommend you get a hotel close to the embassy especially if your time is 6:00am and you are with family.

Hi guys, a quick one here

My fiance sent out our application August last year. He was contacted Jan this year for RFE(request for evidence) which is that the beneficiary should send an evidence that she intends to marry him within 90 days of arrival.

As regards the italicized sentence I need assistance, upon research I realised I wud have to write a statement(letter) which isn't an issue but the fact that my signature must be wet (these I do not understand).

I wud appreciate ur prompt response. Thanks

It means you will have to write the letter with both your name and your fiancee. Then you sign your part and mail it (via DHL or FedEx or USP or any other reputable international mail delivery company) to your fiance to sign his part before he mails it to USCIS.

They are against electronic signature and are also against you signing and scanning to them. It has to be signed with a pen and mailed to them.

Wet signature means signature signed with ink or biro or pen NOT scanned.

Hi,

You can simply do a search on Google, for the hotels that are near the Consulate. The Consulate address is - 2, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Cheers!

Here's a sample of the letter I wanna use but (1). I do not understand the second paragraph. Why would I marry in my country, won't it negate the very essence of the application since it's fiance and not spouse visa? and (2). I don't have chat records wiv him, we talk more via phone calls. So I don't think the third paragraph will work as a result. Will have to scrap that out, or what do you suggest?

Better still, what other supporting document(s) would you suggest I add to the letter as proof. (3) can my dad be the witness to signature? Thanks

Cc @sharpman1 @djfrancis

Ps: we have done our introduction not engagement (traditional marriage) so no bride price was paid.

No, it's only saying you are eligible to marry in your country. That implies you are single. But you can change it and write that you are single. You may wish to attach an affidavit and/or singlehood certificate as evidence.

You mean you don't have chat records of your wedding plans or that you don't have chat records at all? If the former, no problem. Pictures can suffice. If the later, the consular officer might find it difficult to believe. In this age of whatsapp, facebook, instagram, twitter and other social media platforms, there should certainly be some form of chat records. The chat record is not a compulsory requirement to demonstrate intent to marry but it's a necessary document to assist with the overall application.

You and your fiancee can also change other content of the letter, but the structure is good.

Traditional Marriage is recognized as wedding. So if you guys have done traditional wedding, I recommend you guys go for Spousal Visa and not Fiancee Visa. But if you guys haven't done traditional wedding or bride price haven't been paid, they you may wish to go the Fiancee Visa route. If you guys did Introduction, I recommend you remain silent on that as some Consular Officers confuse it for a form of wedding. Engagement is required for Fiancee Visa. When I say engagement, I mean the type where the guy knees and ask the four letter words smiley. I don't mean the engagement in the traditional sense wink. Goodluck.

I will love to attach the affidavit and/ or spinsterhood certificate but how do i go about it? Just read sm stuffs abt it and it seem complicated.

I meant chat records of wedding plans. At the latter, we do have chat records but not a day-day thingy. We practically talk daily via phone calls but chat once or twice a month.

What do you mean by picture can suffice?

Lastly can my father be a witness to signature?#PlsCheckDUploadedImage

The Local Government guys give it. They will also require you do an affidavit.

Chat records mustn't be a day-day thingy. Just some form of evidence that you guys are in communication.

What do you mean by picture can suffice?
I meant pictures that will demonstrate your willingness to marry him within 90 days of entry into the States. Your Engagement Pictures and others can help.

Lastly can my father be a witness to signature?#PlsCheckDUploadedImage
No need for your Dad's signature. You are not married yet. But I don't think there's anything wrong if you want your Dad's signature there.

With regard to the question about sending evidence of intent to marry, it is pertinent to know that wet signature is not required anymore. You can use the letter template provided above, scan that to your beneficiary to sign and scan back to you. Two different letters should be written, one by you and one by the petitioner. Spinsterhood or bachelorhood certificate is not required.

@worriedgurl and @nextlevel2222

That's true. Wet signature on the Intent to Marry Letter is no longer a compulsory requirement. However I will still recommend people use wet signature. This is because some Consular Officers could insist for such and it'll be time wasting to start explaining to him or her that it's not required.

Guys, I was approved!!!

I'm so grateful to God for his mercies and blessings. The interview in itself was very brief. None of my documents or pictures was checked during the interview proper. Was just asked questions on dates. Questions like.....when did we started talking, when did we see each other in person, when did I propose. It was a smooth sail compared to the way others were grilled.

There were over 40 of us, but only 2 (that I'm aware of) were outrightly denied. Several were placed on administrative processing (visa wasn't denied though). They were given back their passport and requested to provide additional information before their visa can be issued. However many were approved at the spot and their passport retained for visa stamping.

Even though my interview time was short, I was there from 5am till 12noon. This is despite the fact that my appointment time read 6am shocked. The reason for this was because they gave priority to family members with little kids and elderly so they gave them numbers before me even though I came before them. Also another reason for the delay was because only 2 consular officers were interviewing us. Before each interview, the consular officer will go through the file thoroughly before he or she calls the applicant. It was a tiring wait but a fruitful one and I bless God for everything.

My advice to those going for the interview, just be yourself. You have nothing to fear as long as your relationship is genuine. Your fiance/petitioner, who is an American citizen, has every right to love and get married to anyone of his or her choice, whether a fellow citizen or an alien.

So relax, your fiancee chose you, so you will get the visa. Just get all your documents and commit everything to God.

I noticed that the DHL Pickup Centre in Victoria Island is the only pickup centre provided on the white form given me.

I had chosen Isolo as my desired pickup centre as its closer to me. But I'm made to understand that Isolo is not applicable for Immigrant Visa. So I'll have to "travel" once again to the Island to get my passport. I had traveled there for my medicals and also traveled there for my interview. It's well cheesy
