Hi guys Im Jeff, great work here. Your works are very helpful. Please I have a situation on my hands. I have a sister in Canada who asked me to apply for a school there for my master's once done with my BSc. But unfortunately I didn't graduate with a second class upper. It has really affected my chances because she originally planned I will apply and get funding for the course... Toxicology under Biomedical Science in any university. Most unis in canada require a second class upper last I checked. ( pls you can correct me on anything here). I mailed the graduate program assistant in the University of Guelph who told me that I could apply for upgrading... to upgrade my degree to enable me apply for the masters program. 1. Has anyone any experience in the upgrade and how it works 2. Does anyone know any school where I can apply for with my results and still get funding or a scholarship. 3. How much do you think the upgrade will be. ( mailed the undergraduate counsellor of the school... still waiting for their response but just thought should ask here as well) 4. Is there any additional information you could help me with. It'll be really appreciated. Thank you. |

makano: He could have goofed but there are better ways to point this than calling him clueless. On the college Visa, it is much more tougher than it used to be back in the days and like he advised, if you can get a Masters admission, seek it otherwise; put in your best in your application. 2 Likes |

Higherground1: Don't wait. Kindly go ahead and apply. I was in same situation years back. I will advice you use the online option cos it is less stressful. |

vibrant99: Oga, calm down ooo. I am not a science student however, one thing is certain and it is the fact that visa application/issuance isn't science. I understand it is much more difficult to get a study permit issued for a PGD than it is for a Masters nonetheless, there is a possibility of getting it which makes it not a straight Yes/No situation. Give your advice the best way you can without discouraging people. Many on here need encouragement as such, you can help analyze their situation and advice on the best way you think they should approach it. 3 Likes |

Senator35: Congrats on your admission to UCalgary. A $21k funding doesn't meet what you need pay as tuition however, my suggestion would be upload your funding alongside about $6000 in your account to show you meet the minimum tuition plus $10k cost of living. Once you get to school, you might be able to cope with your $21k with some on campus job to make extra money to augment your funding. Just mention me if you need further clarification. 1 Like |

Sigh! Kenya is at it again! For GCMS note, use google to find a website where people help others apply. Nairaland doesn't allow the promotion of external websites Travel history isn't a viable reason for rejection, so just get your gcms note, post a copy of it here (with vital information blurred out) and we'll try our best to help you. Hi, I'm happy for you, that your heart desire was granted and you're now in Canada. While i don't have answers to your questions (because really, who knows if cic checks these things, we don't work there), I have a question of my own: This forum has given a lot to you - through the help of Gd and the little knowledge you got from here, you got your visa - how have you in-turned given back to people here? Or are you one of those people who just take but don't give back? PS: i'm not judging you, just curious about how you've given back to his community. why? because you've come here again to ask for help, only God knows when you'll be here again after this help is rendered to you. kennykentipsy: |

Hello, I think @042viber has replied you. But i'll add my two cents: you can apply without an agent, and successfully get the visa. I'm talking from experience. You'll need to go to https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/get-documents.html to know what you'll need. Then come back and we'll walk you through the difficult ones. I hope this helps. Xbolmax: |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Bracha: 5:19pm On Feb 28, 2019 |
Hello, Congratulations on your admission. Your sister can be your sponsor. What is required in the sponsor's account is tuition+10000cad; so in your case it is 6300cad+10,000cad. I'm assuming your sister has other dependents apart from you, attached to her. Which means she should have way more than the 16300cad in her account, so that if she gives you the money, she can still have much left over for her other dependents. So, when applying (i.e submitting the statement of account), make sure she has way more than 17000cad in her account. I hope this helps. opeyusuf: |

Hello, I've never attended either school but I know they are really good school. I don't know what these negative reviews are, but if they are based on areas you deem important, then look for another school. Cheers. Mofpearl: 1 Like |

Lol... chill. He's just speaking based on what he's seen. Remember it's different strokes for different folks. If you've gotten your biometric validity letter, don't worry. They haven't officially informed you of a decision yet, so continue in your prayers and continue believing God that you've received it. Good luck. Determinedsoul: |

Hello, While i can't help with other questions, i'll speak on question 2. You can get masters with funding with a 2.2 depending on the CGPA, and the intended course of study. If Toxicology isn't really working out, look for other courses related to your undergraduate course. Just use Google. There is a wealth of knowledge that can be accessed through it, take advantage. Hope this helps. JeffPhoenix: |

NO. In fact, i think it reduces your chances if you state you have family there. Disclaimer: i could be wrong as i'm basing this on my experience and have never worked as a VO. Chukwuemekatehi: |

Hello, please use google for this, because most of us don't keep these information in our heads. Just google "schools that offer 'the course she wants do study' in Canada". Her certificates in teaching would help if she wants to study a course in education. Hopefully someone else gives a better answer. segbas: 1 Like |

Bracha: Thanks. I used to contribute to the Canadian thread however, the rate of growth was difficult to catch up with at some point coupled with the fact that it is more difficult to spot/advice since we do not have adequate knowledge of what visa officers look out for. Hope you are doing good. |

Hello, Let me use myself as an example. I got a funding for 20K for a year, but had to use a statement of account that had 28K as a closing balance for the application. So what i'm saying in essence is use a statement of account that has as much money as you can possible have. SOA should have tuition+10,000cad in it. Good luck. Senator35: |
