They have started with their doom saying again. They talked about this 4 years ago, and they were proved wrong. At least we were able to survive and manage it well. This would have happened assuming ND avengers keep causing havoc but it was also well managed. The structures of Nigeria and Venezuela are different. venezuela is under sanction, nigeria, no. Venezuela has post unrest situations, not in nigeria, there is fractional supports of opposition government from surrounding countries including america but in nigeria, no opposition or parallel government as at now, and everyone has moved on except atiku and pdp that likely go to court. The structures on ground are not the same.

Yes, poor economic policies by buhari led government may allow some foreign investors to be skeptical about investing in nigeria but is not as bad as they foresee. The main problem is that many free and stolen money that many advanced countries like UK see from Nigerian government in the past has drastically reduced. They depend on those money to grow their own economy and now no free corrupt money while the one they are protecting are been put under pressure to be recovered. They should face their brexit wahala and leave us alone until things stabilize.

no free money to the west n yet d one we have isnt anywere to b found....its loan after loan ur principal takes left right n center n nothing to show for it...u better wake up n see criticism as a way to better yourself

It's not doom saying.. they are worried because a mass migration of 200m people would cause a global problem...

They are the investors, they are the countries that migrants would flock to. They are only being logical.

You spoke my mind. Reason why I don't pray for any iota of unrest in Nigeria. 200m refugees into Africa and into the world will cause a global imbalance.

Did you miss where 2 leading economists were quoted or the fact that they used metrics such as GDP, income per head and strenght of currency to reach their verdict on Nigeria?

Telegraph might have their bias but Nigeria is rushing towards doom. If the economic recession and the devaluing of our currency in Nigeria are not enough for you to see the impending doom, then nothing will.

So, when we exchange Buhari for Atiku Nigeria will hurry towards bloom?

Read more, and free yourselves from the Whiteman fangs. They have predicted soon for Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. Yet, they manually stage the destruction using trade embargo's.

When I say Nigerian's prefer a carpenter's advice about an electrical fault , than an electricians people think I am joking.

Are you telling me Nigeria does not have professor's of economics and public finance. So we need to ask someone who is totally unqualified for advice. Do you take a Mercedes-Benz to a Toyata mechanic.

Go and find out how many trade embargo's the West has placed on Venezuela. Fool's telling me Venuzuela crashed because of oil prices. Mr. Man the West crippled that country with trade embargo's.

Rubbish. Better read Real books.

Foreign investors Gabe up the moment buhari called his citizens lazy. The fruits of that statement are being reaped.

It's nauseating to see any youth chant "sai baba". The man is old, and clueless. He knows nothing.

The picture painted by UK telegraph is too grim to be a whole truth.

Sure, Buhari has never been any economic messiah both in his past and present. He's cut out in old ways of doing things and he's not a quick learner neither does he listen.

A word is enough for the wise. If we are not careful, Venezuela will be our case.

Though I knew the moment I saw the topic that it would be a paid write up so I didn’t bother reading with heart I was just scheming through but I stopped reading immediately my eyes fell on the exact statement that you quoted.

It’s unfortunate the same propagandist narrative they pushed during electioneering campaign, they’re doing again.

Nigeria has fallen. Stop talking like an illiterate. Has your currency not fallen? What about inflation? Can you buy foodstuff that will last your family a week with 10,000 naira?

Investors are pulling out. You will soon see how wrong you are.

If you can't buy food that will last for 10,000 you go and farm. Those countries you refer to have many of their graduates farming. And this government has been loud encouraging people to go into farming with a lot of incentives. So You don't sit in your living room expecting government or any other person to farm and produce foods that will last for you.

how can their be a mass migration of 200m people? Venezuela imported and subsidized virtually everything. When the oil prices crashed, the burble burst. We have managed recession fairly well, agricultural production is on a steady rise, oil production too, currency has been stable, recently restrictions were placed on textile imports. How on earth will Nigeria be the next Venezuela?

Facts on the ground don't support this nonsense.

We have already dodged the bullet, first by kicking out the Ineffectual Buffoon and the second time by rejecting the Atikulooter.

Just two day ago we were announced as the largest producer of rice in Africa. A week earlier we were announced as the largest performing economy in Africa.

Nigeria is on to the NEXT LEVEL of prosperity and development.
You seem to believe the lies of Nigeria being the largest producer of rice. If that was the whole truth,
1. Nigeria will also be among the largest exporter of rice
2. The price of rice would have gone down
3. The poverty rate would have reduced or at least we'll be getting to know rice farmers who are billionaires
4. We should know by now how many millions of hectares of land we are using for rice cultivation.

The four above would be concrete evidences not just empty statements.

Peace

A word is enough for the wise. If we are not careful, Venezuela will be our case.

Nigeria can never become venezuela for 3 reasons

1. We already made it out of recession and are gradually diversifying with non oil revenue continually increasing. Presently standing at more than 40%. Venezuela wasn’t like that. They depended solely on oil and when oil fell and they entered recession, they couldn’t make it out.

2. Our subsidy is disappearing with more refineries coming up that will finally kill subsidy unlike venezuela that has the lowest petrol pump price in the world largely thanks to subsidy.

3. We have a democratically elected government not one bequeathed like that of Venezuela. We have the ruling party in control of both houses so any attempt by anyone to sabotage it and declare himself president like in the Venezuela case will be a treasononable offence and Nigerians won’t hesitate to call for the execution of such individual or group. Except if we still have stupid people in large numbers like the ones on the front page.

UK telegraph knows this but it’s the hand work of the enemies of this country that lost out during the election. I expect More of this kind of junk to come out as time goes by.
