CHAPTER ONE




Derrick woke up with a smile on his face, he stretched himself and checked his bedside alarm clock, it said 6:00am, he stood up and went to have his bath, he Sang all through while bathing, he came in to the room to find Tracy his wife already seated on the bed.



"Good morning honey, you look happy" Tracy said letting out a yawn.


"Of course am happy baby, we are meeting with our family lawyer in an hour Time to read our father's will to us, and as the first son I am, am sure of getting The Zebulon Estate" He replied toweling his body.



"Okay love, but what is so special about the estate?" She asked standing up to pick a clothe for her husband.



"Common Tracy, are you The one asking me this question? That estate is the highest and most expensive property my Dad ever had, do you know how much he was getting from that estate?" He said taking his shoes from the shoe rack



"Okay honey, are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" She asked helping him with his tie.



"Oh don't worry Tracy, it is just my brother, my sister, my mom and myself, including Barrister Nathan that will be present, WILL reading is not so important like that, just take care of yourself, I will be right back" He gave her a peck on the forehead and left.

CHAPTER TWO





Derrick Sat down beside Deborah, his sister, his brother Desmond, sat down with their mother on the other side of the table, they waited in silence for Barrister Nathan to join them, Derrick couldn't help but smile.




"Am sorry for keeping you guys waiting, I was held up in traffic" Nathan apologized as soon as he stepped in to the office.



"That's not a problem at all" Mrs Zebulon replied.


"So shall we begin?" Nathan asked bringing out a piece of paper from a big brown envelope.



"Yes, we May begin" Derrick replied all smiles.



"What am about to read out was personally written by Mr Zebulon Elochukwu Anyadike, and it has not been tampered with" he concluded raising the piece of paper up before removing the final white envelope covering the WILL.



"Just get it over with already Barrister" Desmond sneered, what was all the formalities for?.



"To my family, I love and cherish you all, you are all I have in this world and I will never trade you guys for anything" Barrister Nathan read out loud.



"To my first son, Mr Derrick Chukwubuikem Zebulon Anyadike, you will be given my house at the Bahamas outside Nigeria, you will also have 3 out of my 5 hotels all over the country, plus a sum of 5 million naira" Barrister Nathan took a deep breath watching each and every one of them.


Derrick opened his mouth in shock, he was tempted to ask the lawyer about the estate but decided to stay calm.



"And to my second son, Mr Desmond Chukwuemeka Zebulon Anyadike, I give you 2 of my remaining hotels, The Zebulon Estate and a sum of 7 million naira" Barrister Nathan read out again.



"What the heck?, Am the first son and that estate is my right" Derrick shouted hitting his hand on the desk.



"Shut up your mouth Derrick, your father has a reason for giving it to your brother, and by the way didn't he WILL some of his properties to you too?" Mrs Zebulon scolded him.



"Imagine, he gave my younger brother the sum of 7 million naira but he gave me 5, I know you will support him, he is your favorite son anyway" he said painfully.



"Don't talk like Ricky, I never knew Dad was going to WILL all these things to me, am surprised as you are too" Desmond said.



"Of course you won't know, I just found out that am not Loved here, am not part of your family, am leaving for good" he said storming out.



"Derrick come back" everybody shouted all at once.









Derrick hurriedly drove into his compound fuming with anger, he matched angrily into his house almost colliding with his wife who came out to welcome him.



"What is it baby?, How was the WILL reading?" Tracy asked reading his face for answers.



"I was made a fool back there, my right was given to my brother" he balled his Palm in a fist.



"I don't understand, what do you mean?" Tracy asked.



"My father willed his estate to Desmond with a sum of 7 million naira, while I got the opposite" he winced.



"What are the things willed to you?"


"His house at the Bahamas and 3 out of his 5 hotels with a sum of 5 million naira" he Sat down with a sigh.



"Wow, at least you got something, his house at the Bahamas is huge na, we went there for our honeymoon" she said massaging his shoulder.



"Please Tracy, don't add to my anger, that house can't be compared to the Estate, anyway what do you even know?" He hissed pushing her off.
