I've low cgpa with a third class that's why I'm going for premasters first before masters and there's no course/job in Ireland that related to what I studied in my Bsc (sociology) that's why I want to change to another course.
I don't have a particular course yet but I'm thinking about courses in specialised business including investment; information systems etc.
Please is there any course you think I can go for which can be the best option for me. Thanks

Ireland is good in terms of job opportunities. it all depends on the individual determination and goals.

That €7000 euros proof of funds or living expenses is the estimated amount assumed that would take care of someone's stay in Ireland for one year.

I was offered an admission for software Engineering at University of Limerick last year. i paid my acceptance fee but couldn't pay the full tuition and i didnt have all the funds. I asked to defer and was told the request would be made on my behalf. I inquired for feedback but I was told there had been no response from the faculty. I was then advised to reapply, that my acceptance fee payment would still be retained. I have applied now and its been a month and there is no response, unlike last year where i got a response in almost 3 weeks. Still hoping I get a positive response soon as I have been able to secure the funds I need and look to pay once i get an offer.

I would like to ask if its a disadvantage having being refused candaian study permit in applying for Ireland visa.

Any useful answer is highly appreciated.

Having a Canadian refusal does not affect your chances. However, you will be required to present a copy of the visa refusal and also explain in your SOP reason for the refusal and hopefully you have put better measures in place correcting the reasons for the previous refusal.

Came to my notice that a few non-Nigerians do view this thread and may be interested in studying in the Republic of Ireland.

GOOD NEWS!!! The following African countries do not need to apply for visa to study in the Republic of Ireland (Please not Northern Ireland - this is part of United kingdom):

South Africa
Botswana
Lesotho &
Swaziland

Also, If you have an American passport you have free entry into the Republic of Ireland .

You all will sort out your residence permit card on arrival.

I sent a reminder yesterday. Hoping to hear from them before the end of the week. I do have a copy of the refusal but the reason was not specific, they cited lack of travel history, purpose of travelling, lack of family ties in Canada and their uncertainty about sufficiency of my funds and assets.

The reasons are right there:

Why are you not studying the course in Nigeria?
Why Ireland?
How is the course significant to your career pursuits?
Your ties to Nigeria?- Why would you return to Nigeria after completing your program?
Proof of funds
Ireland does not reckon with Assets.

Yes this is the minimum amount required by the Irish embassy as proof of funds for living expenses during your studies in Ireland.

However, if you are not paying your tuition in full before visa application, you are meant to show the balance on your tution + 7000 euros as the minimum balance .

If using a sponsor or you're married , you need to show way more than this.

In addition to this, ya'll can use LinkedIn to find guys that have completed your courses and chat them up about the prospects; that will provide an objective review. I'll also say chat up a non-EU citizen; because EU guys already have work permit so the game is different. You need to hear from someone with the same hurdles as you.

Statement of purpose - this should cover a brief introduction into your previous academic achievements ; practical / relevant work experience, Career pursuits, why have you chosen Ireland and not studying such in your home country, of what importance or benefit is this course to your career pursuits and significance to Nigeria upon your return.
3. Telex
4. Statement of account of yourself
5.Statement of account of your sponsor
6. Proof of employment yours and your sponsor
7. Medical Insurance
8. Initial offer
9. confirmed offer or payment receipt as issued by the university
10. All originals of your previous academic qualifications
11. Payslips / proof of trading records for yourself or sponsor
12. If married, proof that your family will be alright while away
13. Valid passport
14. proof of English test
Your agent will guide you through your online questionnaire and the hard copy questionnaire that would accompany your documents

It's mostly European/schenghen states that i know that share info and the Canada-US partnership, asides that, no country will tell you categorically that they source/share info with their counterparts but we know they do.

So if you're wondering if you should hide an old refusal or something else from former applications, don't. It has consequences. If you took time to read the thread from the beginning you would have seen cases of people who were denied visas by Canada but got granted by Ireland.

Full disclosure and consistency is the way to go, even if you hide stuff and it works this one time, somehow it'll come back to mess things up. So whatever you said in your former application, keep up with it except you have evidence to prove that it was an honest mistake you made.
