he should disregard me abi?

you are very funny!

anyways i have taken a closer look at the so-called find and the sculpture looks like it is done with Papier-mâché and it also look like a secondary school art work.

again, if these things were dug out from beneath the earth, considering the color of earth in my state, the art will look more reddish brown based on how long it has been in the soil - at least there would av been some plaster of reddish brown soil on it. unless of course if the guy has washed them off - and if that be the case, the marche would av look wet-washed.

again, the substance that can stay long in earth without being messed up is clay, bronze, iron?, ore, gold, diamond, titanium and meteor and the substance these craft is made up of is definitely none of the listed.

i stand to be corrected sha!

in the mean time sir - you can have them. rmeber me whn your oyibos in 'landan' buy them! cheesy

If Afonja was a real warrior, then how did Fulani take over Ilorin?

why did he invite Fulani fighters to help him in a fight then lost his throne in the process and you still called him a warrior.
You always prove to me you're an Afonja!
Ojukwu and Kanu land is still protected and homogeneously Igbo.

I never told you I was Igbo.

Its not about winning or losing. whats brave is that he never ran away in female attires and left his people to die unlike hoejukwu and for your info, i am not even a Southerner.

This is Uzo. In the ancient days, ppl of Anambra State mould this. Especially Awka. This is what made their fore fathers Rich! Go to EZE na ukpo's compound and compare it with the oldest sculpture there.

Archaeologists would do carbon dating to ascertain the age of the artifacts.

I swear, most people commenting on this thread are gold diggers, wanting to take a rip off that guys discovery. it is laughable, some are even putting down their numbers, while some has turned to overnight archaeologist. naija people I hail oo. if you can mind read most people commenting on this thread, you will be surprised some of them are after what they gain. They be like sweet talking and coercing the guy. I will only advise the guy to stop any further excavation and contact credible people who has authority in line of archaeology and collection of artifact, I am sure they will compensate you. But you having any intention of selling like some people here are advising you to do is very wrong. This is the problem of a typical black man, selfish and after his own gain!

we sit on an acres of diamond, but we will rather sell it for a penny to gratify our lustful desire for the moment and when the wise buyer put to good use what he bought, we say he looted us, when we looted our heritage to him. a Yoruba adage, says Kokoro t'on je'fo inu efo lowa.

What I am seeing look quite impressive. I have said it before that most of the chapters of our history remain unwritten and lay buried under the earth. Archaeology departments of universities across this country have their work cut out for them.

Which town in Anambra exactly is this from, anyway? I am guessing somewhere in the Nri-Awka area.

I don't know if there is a department of Archaeology in UNIZIK, Awka. That would have been the best and nearest place to take this to. There is one in UNN though. And I am sure the guys there will be excited to work on the site.

Can you please contact

Department of Archaeology,
University of Ibadan.

You may have stumbled on the earliest settlement of the Ibo race.

Are those terracotta or bronze artifacts?

Earliest wetin? LOL. The artifacts here look like copper alloys which means they are probably at most a little over a thousand years old.

We have seen archaeological discoveries from Igboland that are over four thousand years old and they weren't even the oldest.

Until one is sure, we can only hope for the best.

I wish it is 5000years old and it will show that Africans used to be advanced technologically before the Europeans ever thought of bow and arrow

For once , I can say Jollof is probably the only food a Yoruba woman can cook better than Igbo. Take this from a pro Igbo. Yoruba learned it from the Hausa

This thread highlights the problems with Africans. Instead of building a museum with our ancient, precious artifacts to attract revenue for tourists, we sell them for peanuts. Think long term for a second. Your children and great grand children will have to travel to foreign countries to look at art their ancestors made because their family before them sold them off. We don’t value anything. Sad!

These are ancient artifacts that may carry some important insight about our ancestral origins. They are important! DO NOT DISCARD THEM!
