CodeTemplar:I never knew you were this shallow . Is Matthew 23:23 speaking tithe paying, do you know what cummin, anise and mint are ? Secondly was Jesus making this statement for his disciples to follow or to rebuke the pharisees and their hypcrisy regarding weighter matters ? Have you forgotten that Jesus was under the law when this proclamation was made , and that it was only after His death that the law (old testament )could became obsolete? Can you answer these questions to support your lousy belief in tithe paying? |

Shelumiel:Finally you man up but try to discuss the aspect of Cummings, anise and mint not being tithe instead of acknowledging the fact that Jesus never abolished tithe there but put judgement, mercy and faith above tithe here. If Jesus wanted to abolish tithe, he would have said that directly here. Being the mischievous dude that you are, you claim Jesus was under the law here, then that means his teaching are largely null and void because he was under the law until after his death and resurrection. |

CodeTemplar:Oga, it is too early for foolishness. In Matthew23:23, it is explicitly clear that Jesus was speaking to those who were still under the Law when He said they should tithe. And who was He speaking to? The scribes and Pharisees – Jews who were required to keep the Law. Jesus would never have taught the Jews to break the Law, and He would have never imposed the Law on Gentiles who were not part of the Old Covenant. Consider all the times Jesus healed people(Matthew8:2-4). The only times we ever see Him command people to go show themselves to the priests and make the appropriate sacrifice are the times when He is speaking to Jews. He never tells Gentiles to do this. Why? Because only the Jews were under the Law! If we were to follow everything Jesus said, we would still be bringing sacrifices to the altar and following the cleansing rituals required by the Law of Moses. So Oga , stop carrying us into the bondage of the old testament. |
