Pls note this is just my strategy! Stocks in most cases are not usually upwards sustained on NSE after the stocks are marked down for dividend this I hàve witnessed severally and with the current happenings in on politically I don't really see much upwards. In 2018 after marking down of some stocks like zenith, ucap, gtb and dang flour those stocks never went back to the price I sold them I sold zenith at 27.3 after marking down then and I bought @ 20.8 later. NSE is a cycle. What sustains our MKT is FPI and earnings and for now those guys are not interested in our mtk. The market will be galloping till yr end in my own opinion I may be wrong though. Am coming back by Oct/Nov at least from now till that time tb will give me more monies to buy more of zenith. Follow your investment patterns
it was not like this back in d days. even many stocks are not living their fair value . However one should not fail to lock in when one sees a growth stock.

Companies on ICU can't pay you dividends.

So don't compare ICU patients with healthy ones

I don't invest in such ICU patients.

Some stocks are looking like stew now. Loading is going to happen next week.

You can only load limited volumes without increasing price.

You can't load volumes in excess of 10m units with price still the same.

I don't get worried coz I have taking zenith as the only DIVIDEND paying stock.so the price can go up or down,I won't bother.

Thank God for stocks like Transcorp and fcmb. With these two,I can trade other stocks.

I will advice you do same to save you some stress.

I didn't know you were an investor. Nice one bro.

Most people don't understand how this game works. You just summarized it.

For those who don't know, if he bought at 24 for example and he got N2.5 in 2017 year end, got interim (N0.25) for 2018 and now getting N2.5 again for 2018 year end, this shows that he has collected N5.25. when you less 10% WHT, his final amount collected so far from the bank is N4.725.

This shows that gradually his purchase price of the stock is gradually falling from N24 to ~N19.3. this has given him rest of mind and it has also saved him brokerage fees by jumping in and out of stocks.

If stock market remains irrational longer than he remains solvent, say in the next 3 years, he will keep collecting N2.475 (if you take 10% WHT out of N2.75 yearly dividends). In that next 3 years, this man should have got additional N7.425 as dividends. Net this amount from the N19.3 net purchase of his stock, you will have a final value of N11.875

If he decides to sell at N24, you may say he is losing because he bought at N24 and selling at N24. But he has got so much from dividends. If he sells above, he has made more profits.

So bro, you are on the right track. Keep it up.

But once there is madness of the herd in bidding prices too high, you sell off and move on.

There has been massive silence on this insiders dealings. It is a shame that we allow transactions like this to go unpunished. No matter how highly rewarding Access Bank shares may be.
Not going to touch the stock even with a long pole. I will not be surprised if the audited accounts of Access was padded. I have been looking for their investors conference call on their website. Please anyone with the link. I want to listen.
There are just 4 banks in the banking sector. Zenith UBA GTB and Stanbic. Others are just there.

More like saying there are only 4 gurus on NSEMPA. Others are just there abi? grin

You are wrong!

There could have been wrong in the merger but don't discount other banks.

Non academic staff union don't want to be academic staff union. But academic staff union should not say that they are the only ones better than the Non academic staff. Everyone is needed for the proper functioning of the school. Same goes the banks.

Good day great men of this forum
Been following your contributions and most times when I actually have fund I enter some stocks at the wrong timing. But hopefully I will get there.

pls I need your advise on Fidelity bank shares. I bought my first three tranches at an average of N3.67 2017
I bought more last week at N2.18 hoping with their Q4 result I should be able to bail out even without profit.
But yesterday the price dropped further down with the current news.

Should I sell off all my holdings on monday? Though will be losing almost N400k. This is quite painful but...but my worry is the price will go further downwards and I may lose more in value of my holdings. Thank you

Are they paying dividends?

Let them settle their loans first, then they can be free. They need to do capital raising where they will help move out of the deep waters. For now, wait at N3 to N4.

As expected, DANGOTE FLOUR released a very poor result showing a drop accross all key deriavable revenue and earnings line.
Worthy of note, was the quite visible drop in attributable earnings(EPS), ROAE, ROAA, RoIC, GROSS MARGIN, PAT MARGIN and EBITDA MARGIN.
For context, the group saw EPS drop by near 108% from N291.3 in FY 2017 to a negative position of 22.87k in 2018.
Again, a negative print in RE also ensured that shareholders will have to wait and hope for their next cashflow return(dividend) in 2019 and none this year.

We have since pointed out these facts and more when we advised a SELL on these coys following the release of their Q3 2018 financial prints.
In general, most FMCGs(with emphasis herein on FLOURMILLS, DANGOTE FLOUR, HONEYWELL FLOUR and DANGOTE SUGAR) has had to suffer from the present WIDE margin of disconnect between the country's key policies and the real side of the economy. ...which has in turn put pressure on their drive for increased sales and created a corresponding strain in their RoIC.
MARGINS decelarated against time at a faster pace than their expected deriavable earnings over the course of 2018.
I don't expect this year to be any much different. Though I see FLOURMILLS(which has a higher mkt share) and maybe DANGOTE SUGAR coming off the yr, 2019 at a slightly better financial posture.
However, I still expect the contraction in margin to continue. ...but gradually abated over the course of 2019 as the stability in the fx space and the recent 50bps cut in interest rate by the CBN helps aid their flow of liquidity and ease the current squeeze in sales and deriavable earnings.
On that backdrop, their H1 2019 results will show the way.

Using a mix of valuation models, all coys are presently selling at a premium to their current market price.
FLOURMILLS though, is the better off amongst them given that the current price is near my N16.5 FVE.
For those presently in but are looking to play these stocks in the short term, I have a sell recommendation. Infact, except ur investment horizon is of the long term, its best to watch these coys from the side line. ...at least for now.
I recall I did advise a sell on them after their Q3 2018 results were released.

CAVEAT: NOT to be depended upon as an outright recommendation. Due diligence still applies.
My advise: Pls follow ur instinct.

Regards.

UPDATE ON THE PURPOTED COURT JUDGEMENT AGAINST GTB.

https://investadvocate.com.ng/2019/03/30/gtbank-issues-update-on-judgment-awarding-billions-to-innoson-motors/

" The attention of GTBank has been drawn to false, mischievous and malicious statements circulating in the news and social media in respect of a purported directive by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the Bank to make payments to one of its debtor Customers.

The Bank’s Customers and the General Public are hereby kindly urged to disregard these false statements as nothing could be further from the truth.

There was no such directive or order issued by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the Bank to make any payment to any of its debtor Customers."

Those in this coy can do well to take note and be guided accordingly.

However, even in the unlikely event that Sir Innoson wins the case, I still do not forsee any kind of major impact.
The said amount of N8.8B is no way near 10% the banks last PAT margin. ...not even any way near the amount that's consistently doled out as dividend YoY. So there's absolutely NO need to fret or worry at all !!
GTB is a fitting description of a very effectively run and efficiently managed entity. Those in doubt can argue with the banks consistency with delivering a healthy ROAE, ROAA, RoIC and EM.
No caurse for alarm !!

It is well.

Good dont sell at all just leave it since you don need the money in a hurry. Please find an investment strategy and stick with that and am sure if you do, your losses will always be minimal. Just leave those stocks there till when the market favors them. To me nothing fantastic will happen again in the mkt this year and as such, am bailing out gradually with last stock UBA to bail out on Monday after which i go to Tbill to make some money then come back to the market later in the yr and buy just 3 stocks maximum with zenith making 85% of my portfolio. Please dont buy stock cos others are buying it stick to your own strategy and you will at least 90% be a successful investors. I was formerly a long timer but now i have changed my strategy to enter at the best price, qualify for dividend or may not wait for the dividend depending on the price and exit then re-enter at a good price again, this i started in 2017 and has really worked much for me cos i ended up buying more of those stocks anytime i want to come back for them.
@Beke2020 please note that you are not the only one in this bus. I will encourage you to heed the advice given. There is no cause for alarm. Hold your stock, it will appreciate.
@Aremso, I will like to rub mind with you. We seems to have been through the same route and doing similar thing.
Best of Luck.

Some stock will run forward, while many will run backward.
MM will try to defend some poorly performed stocks. Friends it will be a great opportunity for the informed members to bail out, because surely they will get tied and stock will fall.
Some stocks will be heading backward to 50 kobo, some #1, and some #5, while some will be moving forward to #1, some #5 and some #10.
