Hello everyone, so i proceeded to apply for a B2 visa, i havent gotten a date yet but i have applied on the Website. My issue now is people are saying that since i have a valid B1B2 visa, even if i apply for a B2 visa i will still be issued a B1B2 visa. That applying for a new visa when i still have a valid one makes no sense and waste of money. My current visa expires in December 2019.

I am just confused at this point sef.

Biko guys come to my aid oo, since i have a valid visa i dont need to apply for a new one. that its only when it expires and i want to go give birth that is when i will apply specifically for B2 visa.

Friends in the house help crack this ooo....

.....I had a valid visa and still reapplied and attended an interview to declare my medical intention.

See below advise from LagosNIV when I asked about the B1/B2 then.

https://www.nairaland.com/1792662/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening/215#62716956

All the best and God go with you and grant you favour as you decide to be straightforward.

You actually need not be confused at all! You have specific instructions per that visa from your interviewing VO, that is, if you intend birthing in the US kindly come in for an interview for same. What then is confusing you?

If you apply for either a B1 or B2 here in Nigeria, Standard often if not all the time is that you will be issued a B1/B2 visa which cover all sorts of B purpose travels to the US, but at least should first be used for the purpose it was issued for. The thing however is that yours came with specific instructions not to birth with it, which if flouted clearly will heap loads of obstacles on your path to renewing that visa, you know that clearly.

I remember someone - Overlord or Jayfierce if my memory isn’t failing me - gave you a very plausible advice here which Eribooboo borrowed a leaf or two from to excel today. Are you backtracking?

Forget about renewing that visa if you go ahead and use it to birth in the US just like that. Pray too the CBP crew allow you in sef, don’t forget the VO’s note is there for them to read worldwide. Will advise, be careful my dear sister, be very careful! Don’t be a loser on many unnecessary fronts please.... Regards

Aamey, na the one when people talk you dey find abi na the one when VO tell you? You were not issued a medical visa.

If doing the right thing is expensive and is giving you a headache then you can go ahead and do what you want. The consequences are yours and yours alone.

Anytime i get caught up the in right or wrong cross-hairs i remember Joyce Meyer saying......."You can feel wrong and still do what is right"

CULLED FROM QUORA. May be of some help, discussable methinks with particular attention on the parts in red and green....

How can I convince the US visa officer that I accepted Medicaid by mistake? I did not know about the US insurance system and I canceled it as soon as I know. Since then I have always bought health insurance. I need to get a new visa for my job.

Pat Hedden

You can’t. Birth tourists are generally from middle class and upper middle class backgrounds and do research online and talk with friends before coming to the US to give birth. You accepted full coverage of child delivery expenses through Medicaid because you didn’t know it would impact getting another visa. In the past, many women got away with sticking US taxpayers with the hospital bills until US consular officers got wise and started asking to see receipts. Because of this, some women negotiate reduced charges so they have receipts to show. Hospitals are forced to accept whatever the tourist will pay since there’s nothing stopping them from skipping out on the bill and leaving the US. US consular officers know expected costs for child delivery by city or region and still deny visas to women who clearly didn’t pay the full costs for services they elected to receive by visiting the US to give birth. Moreover, you can’t cancel or reimburse Emergency Medicaid once it’s paid. Please warn your friends thinking about giving birth in the US, so they’ll learn from your mistake. If you choose to visit another country in order to give birth to a citizen who will come back later and get free or subsidized education and other benefits, then the least you can do is pay your bills while here.

My Wife had a similar issue. We got our visa in Feb 2016 but she was not pregnant at that time. When we decided to have our baby in the US before the expiration of the visa, we sent an email in March 2017 to the embassy to seek clarification our current visa was valid for the trip or if we needed to apply for another visa..

The feedback from the US embassy was that there is no legal requirement to inform them that we seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. We were advised to show the border protection agents upon arrival in the U.S our birth plan, which would include correspondence with your doctor, the cost of the delivery, any receipts showing prepayments for care and evidence that we have the ability to pay for all costs while in the U.S. up to and including living expenses.

Hope this helps.

My dear that was then when the Embassy were still lenient on people travelling on a B1/B2 Visa.A friend of mine who got her Visa for tourism and used it for vacation 3 times sent same Intent notification and her Visa was revoked immediately and she was asked to apply for a medical visa and schedule an interview. With all that is happening its just best to be upfront.I applied for a B2 visa in January for Vacation via dropbox but was called for a 221g.I choose B2 even though i was not pregnant because I knew i was trying and it could happen within the 2 years validity so I will mention that upfront..Things are more stringent now so its just better to be safe

It's better to be truthful, so you will have peace of mind when you travel.

Did you use your b2 to go on holiday before getting pregnant?

There’s nothing to crack. You were given very clear instructions by the VO (who will decide your fate in any case) to apply for a medical visa. Your visa will be issued as B1/B2 but the VO will note specifically that you intend to give birth. So why are you listening to other people? Don’t complicate your situation.

Although the above is true with patients that arrive with no planning at all, arriving at hospitals without any knowledge of pricing. These patients would be billed the standard fee and then they would negotiate and the hospital would have to accept to avoid them skipping the bill as stated above.

It is important to notice that the hospitals now have the rates permanently and offer these services BEFORE any patient arrives or offers any type of payment, there is no negotiating and there is no bill previous to this. Patients are not "skipping" bills because they are prepaid before the service is rendered and have nothing to do with the above mentioned.

whao whao whao, thank you all for the responses and feedback. i know this platform is to help people and provide guidance when you feel lost and confused. So all the feedback has been noted.THANK YOU TO EVERYONE OO... WE ARE ALL HERE FOR EACHOTHER.

We booked my appointment and was offered the option of interview waiver apparently its like dropbox (because i still have a valid visa) which for real i am not even interested, i would rather book an appointment and face the VO's directly than have them decide my fate without me being there. The dates i am getting for the face interview is too close to my EDD (like a month) so i dont want to risk going for the interview by that time. Is there an option of an emergency interview or anyone had a similar case ..if yes what did you do.

Please people dont be tired of my numerous questions we are all here to learn and ask questions.

Cheers

I have been a silent follower.

let me drop my transcript here.

I applied via drop box to renew my usa visa and I stated I was going for medicals. 221g letter was sent to me and I rescheduled for interview. Unfortunately a week to my interview I had pre term labour at 6 months and they could not keep the baby since he was not up to 7 months. I reschedule my interview due to health reasons after delivery.

Today I went for my interview at Abuja consular.

VO: When last did you go the usa.
me: 2013

vo: how long did you stay?
me: 2 to 3 weeks

vo: for what ?
me: Christmas holiday

vo: who do you know?
me: my brother

vo: how did he get to usa:
me: visa lottery

vo: I can see you wanted to stay for three months, why?
me: so I explained how i lost my baby at 6 months just before the interview, so i rescheduled.

vo; what does you husband do, how much does he earn?
me: I answered her.

vo: what do you do?
me: answered

vo: I can see you earn ......
me; yes i do and my salary has been upgraded this month to......

vo: will you have a baby within the next two years?
me: yes of course.

vo: will use like to give birth in the us
me: yes, if doctors gives me the go ahead to travel, due to my history.

VO: What countries have you visited
me: Uk,France, Spain, Luxembourg, Netherlands ,Belgium, Uae, Gambia, Benin rep..etc

vo: okay, i will be giving you this visa, please pay all your bills and do not accept any discount. get your itemized bills and all the necessary receipts.
me: yes i will

me: I asked her if i needed to inform them when next I get pregnant, she said no, but i should declare it at the point of entry, and have enough funds to cover my treatment.

Thank you lord for this victory, and for doing something for me to wipe away my tears.
