But it's clear that at death the born again Christians don't need the physical body anymore!

Jesus showed himself to his followers because they've not gotten the understanding of first resurrection clearly.
By then none of them is born again so they can't grasp that Jesus is no more in the flesh they used to recognise! Luke 24:15-32 compared to John 20:14-16

Since you don't believe in Jesus' bodily resurrection it is no surprise that you will not believe that Christians will be resurrected bodily albeit in their glorious bodies just as our Lord Jesus Christs'.
