Imagine look at that.
Sometimes I come online, look at all this and just go back to sleep.
Imagine wanting to do a PhD in your country so that you can be close to your own people but not one single scholarship/ funding to sponsor your study.
When a person pays his way through from baby class to Master's level and you still expect me to pay huge fees to do a Ph.D. (the job is not even guaranteed after studying o)when I can get it free and be paid elsewhere.
There is a massive brain drain going on. Massive! The intellectual youths are leaving en-masse except for a few.
So many issues....Lemme just stop here and go and sleep cos if someone thinks about this country ehn.....

My brother, you aren't alone. It is disturbing. When I was serving I spoke to my employee back then about travelling to canada and do you know what he said. I was just on a simple 12k allowance from the organisation and to my surprise he said when you are done with nysc I will increase your salary to 25k I wanted to faint.

One day hopefully we are going to reap the fruit of our labours by Gods grace.
Lol you should go to bed it is needed. grin

I think you are wrong. I just got a PhD admission with letter of admission to present to the visa officer that has conditions for me to present my original transcripts and certificate by dec. 2019.

DMerciful:
This is not the condition the op is asking. He is asking if you're given a conditional offer pending when they receive your official transcript and wants to know if you can apply with that conditional offer and I maintain it's a capital NO!

I understand the appalling situation and I believe people like you and others on this forum will one day contribute to repair our tarnished image/reputation. I spoke extensively with a student from india and he mentioned what he submitted. Letter of acceptance, GIC certificate and study loan approval from the government and he got the canada study visa in 3weeks. There was no property document, letter of sponsor etc and he got it. Now look at what the average Nigerian submit to get a trv. It is ridiculous some get so tensed they submit fake documents just to make a case.

When I did my medical a man in his late 60's said during his days people would rather stay in Nigeria than travel abroad and even when they do so they come back immediately after their studies.

I believe we have potential in this country and we are going to get there soon! We youth just have to make sure we set a good example and foundation for the coming generation.

It is sad that processing times for Nigerian applications take like forever but the conditions are different. Do you know that these Indians MUST pay the 10,000CAD for maintenance directly to CIC and then when they get to Canada, they open an account and CIC pay these students monthly (similar to what is done in Germany)? I think that is one of the reasons they have faster processing times. Also, most of these Indians have access to loans, CIC trust the institutions giving them these loans.

If Nigerians are asked to compulsorily pay 10,000CAD to CIC and probably make part payment to schools for fees, the number of applicants will reduce drastically.

After paying the 2k, I sent an email to the CASHIER OFFICE, asking them to send a receipt to confirm my payment. I told them it was urgent because I needed it to apply for my visa that same day.

They replied my email that same day, by sending me a letter that confirmed that I had paid the 2k,

Email: cashiers@mun.ca

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Well for me, I had most of my money in Treasury bill and fixed deposit when I submitted my application., and another huge amount in my pensions account

In my savings account I only had about 250k,and still submitted the statement like that.

Although I paid 2k CAD as initial deposit for my school fees

My visa was approved.

Cash in fixed deposit and treasury bills can be easily made available by liquidating the account /investment and I think the visa officers know that.

But I hope your friend has other money in addition to what his/her sponsor has, because in my opinion, 6 million may not be sufficient fund

good day pls am asking for a friend. her dad has 6 million in fixed deposit and a closing balance of 50 thousands naira. pls I told her to remove statement of account. am I wrong?

Good day nairalanders,

Please stop advising people to liquidate their investment because of visa application. For the record, no one has ever been denied because his or her money is on fixed deposit or Treasury bill. I am a self sponsor student going for PhD. I got approved with treasury bill and fixed deposits investments. The only balance I had in my statement of account was 500k.
Thank you.

You cannot use conditional offer letter, that's why it's conditional, admission is unconditional if you fulfill the conditions timely. Go to your school and get them to send your transcript expressly and if it means facilitating the process so be it!

This is not correct. I applied with a conditional admission letter

You are right, I guess this is a case of doing things in an effective manner and getting a speedy response and doing things our way and hoping to be favored. I'll use this medium to wish all applicants luck in their trv application. Ir might feel like forever but by the grace of God it will be fine. And on the contrary if you dont get a favourable response just yet learn from the last application and try again.

Hi Frank, I am new here and I just got admitted into a college for a graduate studies. I need assistance in applying for student visa and the rest. Please here is my email address itohanuzama@gmail.com
I will love to hear from you and you perspective about it.

Thank you.
The visa officer will like you to satisfy them that you're gainfully employed in your home country and that the prospects of getting a job when you lose your current one is considerably high. This satisfies the visa officer that you won’t leave your job when you travel to Canada. On the contrary, if you're a fresh graduate, being unemployed as at the time of your application won't affect your application. You can get a letter from an establishment stating that you're presently volunteering (non-paid) at the firm.

The applicant has to look for a school in Canada that fits his area of specialization this will determine his cost of studies in Canada. Also, bear in mind that the sponsor will also set aside 10,000$CAD for the applicant's first year living expenses.

Honestly,if we can get loans like they do and do this GIC thing,I think Nigerians will prefer it. It just like fixing your money, collecting monthly stipends, then after say 12months( depending on the agreement with the bank) you get your principal amount with interest. Who wouldn't like that? If there are study loans in the first place.
I've been vexing for long that Nigeria isn't among the countries that are allowed to do this....just China,India, and two other countries.
Most of them don't have the money too,but they get loans, some even get loans before applying for ADMISSION....its so annoying but oh well, nobody asked our country to be like this.

So apparently, fixed deposits and t-bills can fly.

I have seen a lot of comments here saying that the aformentioned cannot fly for a visa application. I think its important that we are sure of the information we share here as people actually base their applications on what we say. Cc olamidemessi

Hi Nairaland fam,

TRV UPDATE 17/04/2019

We now have a sample of 46 hopefuls but i still want to encourage those that have not shared their timeline to please do. Let us contribute to this wonderful thread as we have benefited from it. This is the only way the thread can grow. For those that have submitted their timeline but haven't shared all the information we need, please help in sharing the full details (especially school resumption month and whether or not your application is new).

In particular, we still need information on school resumption date and application type (new or re) from the following people; Dedecoder, Godatwork23, Oni2019, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Klem28, Udomas, Ancy 26, Trishaben, Omarzx, umulobi, and Iykedpetes.

Also, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better.

Hiya,

Please do you mind sharing the number of times you sent messages to IRCC regarding your application? I'm asking because I also have a very short time available; my school resumes in June and I was only able to submit my application this April so there's little to no time left...
ILoveDLord:

Please guys for personal reasons, I am not able to reply private messages (PM).

Please kindly ask your questions here on this platform and I will answer or someone else will be able to.

Also that's part of the reasons I have provided as much details here and I provide details when answering questions

Sorry to all those whose PM I didn't reply to.

Additionally, I believe questions that are asked openly here and answered could provide answers to many people's questions too; and could used as reference by the new /upcoming hopefuls in the future

Thanks for your understanding.

I wish you all the best in your applications.
