I still do not see how catholics are different from orumila or sango idol worshipers, most of their doctrines are clear idolatry contradicting the Bible.

And what is wrong with Sango or Orimila o
African?

Eating of meat on good Friday,is not a sin
In d olden days, they abstain from meat cos it was expensive to afford but these days every single family both d rich n d poor can afford to buy meat,so d church in her wisdom decided that on good Friday, Catholics should abstain from there favorite meal in other to observe good Friday

the church in his wisdom chose ash Wednesday and good Friday to abstain from meat because in Asia and some American countries its hardily for them to keep away meat in day if stop them from eating meat it as if you have taken away life out of them so the church decided to impose the rule so they can reflect on the suffering and the dead of Christ from their it started spreading to the whole catholism

I have been wondering why Catholics don't eat meat on Good Friday.

What's it significant? Are there any curses or consequences if one disobey?

why do they eat fish instead of meat?

Where and when did the Bible says we shouldn't eat meat on Fridays

Everything created by God is good to be eaten at any time, any day or any day by people who are serving God in spirit and in truth but you can keep that command if you are still leaving in the flesh

Catholics don't eat meat on good Friday as a kind of abstinence because Good Friday is the remembrance of the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ who came to the world in human form. As His flesh was suffered and crucified, catholics honour and cherish that sacrifice by not eating anything that has flesh on every Good Friday and ash Wednesday as a form of penance in remembrance of the flesh that was killed for our sins.

Anglicans don't eat meat before o until a new Vicar was ordained, he told us to bring the meat to his house if we won't eat it...lol..
me thinks its just a church doctrine to honour Christ...must have started from one of the old pope's in his time and they decided to keep it

There is no where in the Bible where this was a commandment. Observing it or not does not confer righteousness or grace unto any man.

Vulture is not different from other meats that people eat, that you don't eat it doesn't mean there are not people that eat it in other countries, the way there are people that eat monkey meat, snake, dog etc. Read my post well and you will see that the fasting part you ask doesn't relate to what I said

This alone should guide all Christians

That same Bible guiding the Christian faith is a product of the efforts of Popes throughout the ages that directed the affairs of Catholicism and largely Christianity. Google check it

by the way who told you that christ died on good friday, christ did not die on good friday. if you are saying christ died on friday thenyour calculations are wrong because the bible said that he died three days and three night and if you count from friday to sunday you will see that it is wrong, the exact day was thursday not friday. coolby the way who told you that christ died on good friday, christ did not die on good friday. if you are saying christ died on friday thenyour calculations are wrong because the bible said that he died three days and three night and if you count from friday to sunday you will see that it is wrong, the exact day was thursday not friday.

That's what we call PENANCE to mark the death of Christ.
"MEAT" azin history is a sign of CELEBRATION and in the catholic church, it is mockery for you to celebrate on the day Christ died, we all should be sad and hence no meat.
For those saying it must be in the BIBLE if not it's idolatry, may i remind you the mother church compiled the most important holy writings of history so as to make the word of God handy for Christians,
other holy books are kept safe in Vatican and that's where you'd find all the doctrines of the catholic church, some are even hidden from the public cuz mere humans won't understand it.
if they had compiled everything into the bible, it won't have been a portable book. They only needed the important scripts in the book

So when Pope Francis declares the 'Papal bull', what knowledge do you have if Christianity that can contradict the Pope himself?

Christ did not even die on Thursday, mind you, this happened over 2000 years ago, there was nothing like Thursday and Friday then, as Christians, we can jointly choose a date to remember the birth and death of our lord Jesus Christ,

When your Father dies, eat meat and all the food you can lay your hands on, on that same day to honor his death as you're happy he was killed on your behalf. I don't know why we fail to reason things

The meat that you should not eat is not actually restricted to the goat or cow or fowl flesh but anything that gives you joy and that you can't do without on a normal day is your meat eg beer, women, games ,outing, shopping.

As for is it in the bible?the bible was written by the Catholic chruch in phase for hundreds of years.

Stop saying or asking whether xyz is in the bible, before you obey it .That is the devil speaking through you.

Bless you. That's what I try to let folks know. The same Bible that's a product of years of study by the monks and frairs in monastery under the instruction of the Popes throughout the ages is what some Christian critics use against the catholics
I tell them. You can't talk about Christianity without mentioning the 'Roman Catholicism'. They can't know more than the pope.

na wetin me still dey wonder oo,
these guys thinks everything is in the Bible.
The popes only compiled the most important holy books around 500AD, and called it THE BIBLE.
They know more than we do cuz they have more scripts of which they didn't add to the Bible

Explain...

Depriving oneself of some certain things. Most ppl cant do without eating meat in a day.

Just see it as fasting. It shouldn't be a catholic thing. All christians should be involved.

Without the norms and all, if you genuinely follow the passions of Christ, after seeing all the blood, you will be disgusted when you see anything bloody.

Ive acted as Veronica, honestly that day i felt like i was in Jerusalem ( the real passion of Christ according to the scripture and our christian believe)

If we put our self in Christ's shoes, if we wish to be christ like, not eating beef today is like child's play. People do extreme, just to feel the pain christ felt.

But thanks to Easter Sunday, we are free again. smiley

Abstain from eating meat is Not a sin to Christian But a sin to a Real Catholic members. Some Catholic may eat meat but a good Catholic faithful we not eat a meat. Some have not been eating meat since the beginning of the lent till date.
If you read the Bible very well about the Passover Night you will understand the reason behind the not eating meat by Real Catholic faithful. Jesus Christ used his blood and body to set us from our Sins instead of the Lamb they used in the old days.
Have you seen the bruise and enough beating they gave him because of my your sin and mine. He was crucified, death and buried and rose again. God is Great indeed.
Did you know what happened in his 1st,2nd ,3rd fall of Jesus Christ. He was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people.
His weakness was extreme and the cruelty of His executioners was excessive.
To cut the story short, if you are a Good Christian that Love Jesus Christ truly truly is good to Ash Wednesday and Good Friday Not to eat a meat. It just a sign of telling Jesus Christ that we Love Him and Adore Him.

It's just paganism. Easter celebration itself is not of God. Who told the church that Jesus died on a particular day? The only enjoyment I have on days like this is the holidays and nothing more. Telling me Easter and Christmas is biblical or you have to abstain from meat on a certain day is biblical, just know you're an idol worshipper.
