Far deeper.
Too many storylines and back stories. So much plotting and scheming by characters, I've lost count. Even folktales told by characters have their hidden meanings and puzzles. The material is dense. I feel that is GRRM's undoing. For example the 'show Sansa storyline' is separated into Sansa/Alayne and Jeyne Poole storylines. The showrunners managed to condense it all, if not there would have been like 10 seasons just to meet up book 5.
It would be difficult for GRRM to tie all the storylines together, hence the delay in releasing books 6&7. It will be interesting to see how he does it.

Tywin knew Tyrion was innocent. His conversation with Jaime before Tyrion demanded trial by combat showed that. Same with his conversation with Tyrion before he was killed.

If that is not enough, then check this. All the testimonies brought forth against Tyrion were all lies and Tywin knew it.

How you say? Shae's lie was the biggest of them all. In fact it would have been the testimony that would have doomed Tyrion. I would go as far as saying Tywin had a hand in that testimony cuz he was doing the nasty with Shae all the while. No way he would fvcking someone so connected to the King's death if he didn't know about it
