Let me give back since I have benefited from this page. I applied for my Canada tourist visa first week in March (submitted in person) and got it approved in 6 days. After I received mine I applied for my mother and also took less than a week. I left Accra on Easter Friday. After reading all the comments here I got a doctors appointment and had 10k and enough money on my card to declare at POE. A week before I traveled 3 different people called and asked that I shouldn’t declare at POE unless asked but I had my money and doctors correspondence ready. This is because 2 people were given just 3 weeks entry stamp when they declared even with money and all documents. Another person was also sent back because it wasn’t stated in their visa application.
I traveled with my 19 months old son who has an American passport. We used Brussels airline.

oh okay so that brings the bill to a total of 6100 CAD. Does this fee apply for CS too ?
CS is X2 for mother, X2 for baby cos it's 2days stay. Doctor I heard is $5000

One mom on here has CS and got discharged same day according to the post I read through , she said it was a fast and painless surgery the doctor examined and discharged her within the 24 hour time frame

yea but it might not be same for everyone. Also, her baby had jaundice and she had to come bk for additional 2 days costing her 5k. In essence, be prepared as u cannot use 1 case to judge. A typical canadian dr will not let u go.after a day of CS ...plz bear that in mind. Also, r u going to be coming with anyone cuz that lady had alot of help from family members anf I know cuz I visited her.

Yes most likely I’ll be coming with someone if granted a visa because after CS I’ll need all the help I can get even the stretch to pick something na war , I can’t totally rely on my host because they may not have time for me . If I can’t get anyone to come with I’ll have to abort the mission because I can’t come single handed when I’m sure I’m birthing via CS.
Yes I intend to plan for 3 day stay for CS but one day stay isn’t impossible abi grin ?

wow, that was fast. Anyways, everyone should have extra cash in case of supposed vaginal birth turns to CS and in case they have to stay 2days.

Very true. Better to over budget than under budget and get stuck.

Maybe explore the option of hired help there. I know that's an option that some people take in US. The same cost of visa fees, ticket and feeding for someone to travel with you, you can see if it'll cover the cost of the hired help. Cheers! and Good luck.

Thanks for taking out your time to write this. I would like you to kindly explain/describe the issues/challenges you faced at the POE..

Ok, got in and joined the queue. 1st officer asked what I was there for. Told him childbirth and vacay. He did a red marker like crossing on my landing card, welcomed me and directed me to a 2nd inspection room. Stood in line for at least 20mins before it got to my turn. Approached the available officer, young Caucasian male wearing an ear stud.
Officer: Hello Ma'am, what brings you to Canada?
Me: I'm having a baby next month and also holidaying.
Officer: Oh I see. Return ticket please
Me: Here ( I show it to him)
Officer: So how do you intend to pay for it? Childbirth is very expensive in this country
Me: Yes indeed, I have the required funds
Off: How much is it costing you?
Me: I'm expecting to spend between 7-8k CAD in all on Dr's fees, hosp fees and other associated costs.
Off: lHe laughs) No way you're spending that little to have a child here ma'am. It costs at least 20000CAD to have a baby here.
Me: I know sir but for self paying non-residents like me, the daily rates are what I've quoted to you
Off: (Still shaking his head in disagreement): Who's your Dr? Do you have an appt? Let me see your appt letter. Where are you staying, How much do have on you? How do I know you'll leave my country after you're done? Let me have your Dr's name and contact.(Proceeds to place a call, it wasn't answered) How much do you have on your cards?
Whew!
It was a barrage of questions but I tolld myself to calm down and field each question calmly. In the end, after perusing through my accomodation reservation, my passport, return tickets, cash at hand, bank statements, he handed all over and stamped me in and said Welcome to Canada.

Hello everyone.

I'm new on this thread. I'd like to ask if it's not to late to apply for Canadian Medical Tourist visa to have my baby. I'm already 6 months down. Is it not too late or employing the services of an agent be the easy way out. I'd be waiting for your candid opinions. Thank you

Not too late if you have all your documents handy. This thread is DIY. However, it's your choice of agent. Agent has no influence on your application decision.

I'm not here to burst your bubbles or dampen your spirit but i personally believe it is late. I am talking from my personal experience. Especially if you will be applying for medical visa. That is if you will be declaring yoy are going for childbirth. They will take their time. Maybe a normal TRV wouldnt. Mine took 7 weeks plus before i got a passport request. Stamping of passport os another one week or more. If successful with your application, by the time you are done, you will be getting close to the 40weeks mark. You can however give it a try and jlhope for the best. Worst case scenerio, you travel at 38weeks

Thanks to everyone for their contributions. It has indeed firm up my decision to start up. But does anyone think chances might be slim if I declare my intention to have the baby there or normal visit visa since tommy isn't so obvious for now.

Please enlighten me more. Thanks

Please declare. It's legal to travel to Canada just to go give birth. It's on their website. Infact from what I've read here, some women have been sent back at Port of Entry for lying. The only way to avoid declaring on your application I think is if you apply online and there's no place to fill that in, but e en at that if you're asked at any time, best is to tell the truth. Am sure sabi elders like @hotstepper will advice you too when online.

In the spirit of giving back. I have been following this thread for a while and I have learnt a lot. I got my Canadian visa long before I thought of giving birth. When I got pregnant we decided to have our last baby in Canada as the order two were born in America.
I left abuja for Toronto yesterday 11/05/2019 on British airways. I was asked for my fit to fly, which I gave to them, they made a copy and returned the original to me. My stopover in London was very short, I got into Toronto 8pm local time.i Joined the long queue. They had a part automated immigration system, I used the machine answered the questions and got a printout, after that I was directed to the queue to see the immigration officer that will sign me in.
Immigration officers: what are you here for? To have your baby?
Me- yes and to visit family to
Immigration official- how long are you staying
Me- 2mths
Immigration officer- where does your family stay?
Me- Brampton
Immigration Officer- welcome to Canada and congratulations on your baby(as he stamps me in)

I just quickly walked away before he changes his mind.

I prayed for ease of passage, and God exceeded my expectations.

Wishing everyone the best of luck...

What's strange about it?, the two times I had my kids in America, nothing medical was asked, even tho I declared childbirth with my normal visiting visa.

Hello everyone,

Please I need help wit the following.

1. Which is the faster application means for Canadian visa? Paper or via their online portal?
2. How long is processing time?
3. What is usually the visa validity issued to applicants with a valid us visa?

NB:: I have a US visa that will expire next month.

Many thanks for this info.

Please how did you go about getting hospital correspondence. Did you book an appointment with them. I'm asking because reading through this thread, I observed that most hospitals in CA do not give any appointments (and probably quotes) until they see you physically. Thanks for your response...

Bank statement. Both domiciliary and naira acct.
Letter of employemnt for both hubby and i.
Leave letter from my employer
Documents of our landed properties
Pension certificate
Budget sheet. ( our budget sheet showed we were only going to spend half of the total amount we had in our account. )
Flight booking
Hotel booking
Marriage certificate
Itinerary of places hubby will visit
Hospital correspondence
A detailed LOE stating my name, what i do and where i work, purpose of visit, amount made available for the trip, details of hospital and doctor i will be using. Details of how long the three of us intend to stay.

I also wrote a detailed letter addressing the prior refusal.

I think this is about all. Generally, i feel if you will be declaring your intention for childbirth, they want to know you have the finance to cover the cost and any contigencies and they also want to see the plans you have made regarding hospital and doctor who you will be using in canada and the cost.

NB, the embassy later sent a request letter to include a proof of medical insurance to cover my stay in Canada

Good afternoon all,
I have read from page 1 to 113 but am still little bit confused. Please I need assistance .

1) I applied for USA visa, and my interview appointment is for October 2nd while my EDD is November 25th. I think it’s too close to my due date. Will applying to canada be considered wrong since am still on USA wait list?

2) I intend to be honest with my application. From what I have read here, you need to attach your doctors correspondence while applying , since Canadian doctors don’t give email correspondence, what do I attach?

3) my husband is the sponsor. I hv a bal of 2m in my account, he wants to transfer more money before I print my statements. Will that raise a red flag or I should just upload his statement like that?

4)From what I have read, Ontario is the best option as it’s less expensive. Am I right?

5) how can I find a family doctor to refer me to an gyna? Am only 13 weeks gone.

So sorry for my plenty questions. Please help a sister. @hotstepper(thanks for all u do) @Mamaoo
@ Omobendy..... and other super mamas..
