You guys shouldn't give me headache na. Please read a post and understand. Yes, bankers love deposits, but deposits without transactions is nothing!

If you had read further, you will see where I said, deposit is good to trade and avoid pool borrowing. So, yes, money for risk assets comes from deposits. But deposit isn't the all and all of any branch.

You deposit money, they pay you interest. The customer is even the one gaining. So how exactly do you get back from this customer? Because banks are there to make money.

What is the core function or definition of banking? How do banks make money? Deposits? NO!

How much does deposit itself reflect on the PBT/revenue of a branch?

You are the one not reading what others are saying. Go and read a banks financial statement.

So, once a branch has huge deposit, it makes profit? Nice to know that... smiley

Yep!

Basically. That is why your CBN governor was complaining last year about banks investing too much in Tbills instead of lending to businesses that need money.

I will advise many of you here to try and read financial statements and understand the fine prints before basing arguments on what you think you know Instead of what is facts.

Compounding/reinvesting your interest via NTB or other opportunities consistently

Thanks sir,
But please I have more questions.

1. How do I compound/reinvestment my interest?
2. And what other opportunities exists other than treasury bills?

Thanks

Okay...

GonFreecss1:

You can quote me on this, currently majority of Nigerian banks make money from Tbills, so FD will surely help to create more funds to do Tbills.

This isn't in dispute.

So, what is your point again?

GonFreecss1:

And that is exactly what I have been saying. I am forced to ask again, what is your point?

I will make this very brief, so you don't quote me with another diatribe. Do banks need deposits? Yes. I said it up there, they trade with deposits, which I believe covers the Tbills you all have been on about. Do "branches" rely solely on deposits to make profit? No.
I hope this doesn't fly over your head, Mr Financial Statement.

2. And what other opportunities exists other than treasury bills?
Whatever you can do that will return a profit
Thanks

I submitted for the primary market in GTB. I am yet to be debited and they said I'd be debited Thursday evening/Friday morning....
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nichee: 2:04pm On May 17, 2019
On most bank TB form there is always a section on the form asking you wether you want to invest your earned interest or Not. So what you do is to check/tick the options as applicable.

For your second question there are other investments like Bond, MMF, Stocks and FD. Due deligence is advised,

I just came back from GTB. I requested for T. bill but was told non is available for now till next two weeks. I gently went to make enquiry on F.deposit and I was told that my earnings per annum is 4.5%.

I migrated from GTB to FCMB and was told they only accept 300k and above for FD.

Because of my quest for a better offer, I requested for TB but was told that primary bill is not available while that of Secondary is. I requested for the percentage in involved on the secondary bill but was told that he need to forward a mail first with the amount i intend to bid in order to ascertain how many percent available in the market.

Now, my question is , what is the difference between primary/secondary bill, advantage and risk factors one may likely encounter in embarking on the investment. Help me answer this question please

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nichee: 2:36pm On May 17, 2019
1.Primary rate is relatively higher than Secondary rate.

2,Primary always comes with 3tenor 91days,182dys & 364 days while secondary do have a flexible tenor depending on availability.

3.Primary tb auction is done fortnightly by cbn while Secondary is done by banks anytime based on availability..

TB is backed by FG... And layman meaning of TB is you are borrowing govt money so the only risk I can think of is default on the part of govt. Or God forbid War. Or if the country disintegrate. Others can contribute.

Thank you

God bless you.
Do you suggest I should wait for primary TB at the end of the month because of percentage interest attached to it or I should out in to secondary TB offered by FCMB.
THANKS A LOT

But tbh, deposit is nothing in the long run. It helps, but it doesn't really impact on the bank's revenue.

What banks love is risk assets or transactions that bring quick money. Like dorm transfers and all. What is deposit? Deposit is just to avoid pool borrowing and probably trade. It doesn't pay salary...

You said that didn't you?

Lol! Because we put the heat on you, you changed the statement to rely solely on deposits. Just admit you were wrong stop trying to save face by substituting words to create a lesser impact to your former argument.

And finally, what is this about branches you keep talking about? Lol! You can't separate the branches from the bank, branches make the bank.

Don't let your own logic fly over your own head, before you try to imply said logic is flying over mine. Thank you.

I wish you drink lots of your favorite drink though, sniper is kinda toxic, I am sorry I can't find it in my heart to tell you to drink that.

I also apologize if you feel I came after you, well I basically came after your point. We can always disagree and still be friends. grin

Common sir, you're not fit for this, to be dragging issues with that lady. If you had gone through most of her post you would have seen that she looks for trouble in any thread she goes to, then you would have ignored just like how aremso has done. Biko let it pass. Thanks

[This rate is not static. It's subject to availability. What determines the N1000 returns are your principal, tenor and the secondary rate available at the bank as of the time you want to invest.

No offer was specifically stated. They only told me that only available investment on TB is secondary. And that the amount I wish to bid will be determine by the percentage the CBN will offer. He even said I have to make offer for him to send a mail to determine the percentage of interest accrue to my plan

I think that guy was just confusing himself and not me. I reserve my investment till fortnight jare
