throw like 5 or 6 bitter colas inside the ceiling, the snake will disappear and find it's way out of the ceiling.

It doesn't work, it didn't work for me.

I used bitter kola, garlic, onions, it didn't work.

Kerosene or fuel would be a better option to bitter kola or garlic and the rest.

Hello everyone,

There is snake living in my roof. It has been over 2 years now the reptile has been living in there. I first noticed it sometimes in 2017 when i saw snake skin in my roof. I have blocked all entry holes for lizard and the likes thinking the snake would die or leave due to starvation ....but it didnt leave and the snake seems to be thriving in there. I dont know what its eating.

I taught of fumigation but i think the snake can escape the fumigation odor because it can easily hide in the deep block holes.

I cant go in there, as am writing this i can hear the snake moving all about in my attic.

What can i do to get rid of it?

MODS: If its not too much i want this in front page for better audience or opinions.
You can get the assistance of some Hausa People , if u have them around.tell them about it and they can probably direct to those who can kill it.

I strongly believe it's an alligator or a monitor lizard.......
But if not poison the egg b4 putting in the roof.......
Or even get a camera up in the roof along side the eggs

It's not only an alligator, it's a shark. Olodo.

Use kerosene. Use kerosene. Use koresene.

Just that
Re: Snake In My Roof by sircrabo: 10:11pm On May 19, 2019
Where we lived before at Ipaja, Lagos, we had same issue. At night, we do hear a sound from the ceiling like an over grown chicken. attimes it will crawl inside the ceiling at night.

we bought bitter kola and grinded some. we threw the grinded ones and the ungrinded ones (the seeds) into the ceiling from both ends of the roof. That week alone we saw three dead snakes lying on the floor in our compound. but there was a louder noise we felt could be a bigger snake. we didn't get to sniff it out till we moved out.

You can fumigate the compound and tell them to spray the chemical inside the ceilig through any hole in the ceiling.

Kerosene also deals with snakes at point of contact

GarbaAudu:

If you have seen the long skin shade, then it's most likely a black cobra. It has a strong survival skill and can adapt to any unhealthy environment, holes, dark spaces etc. If you are sure you don't have rats/rodents in the house then the serpent is feeding on wall geckoes. That explains why it survived this long. If you are really convinced that you have a snake up there, then your best option is to call the service of Hausa snake charmers. Any other options will be dangerous as the snake will be threatened by the invasion of its territory. It can fight to death. If you are in the north, snake charmers are everywhere. If you are in Lagos, you can get them in IdiAraba, Obalende, Mile12, or even Agege. For a fee of N10, 000 they can safely remove any poisonous reptile from your house.

You just took those words out of my mouth. He should call Hausa snake charmers. They don't collect money, you give them what you feel it's okey because it's not a business but inheritance

First thing first, whatever strategy you were told to apply please don't do it alone either spreading of anything in your roof or fumigation, I repeat DON'T DO IT ALONE.

Secondly, follow GarbaAudu's suggestion. I think that's your best shot.

Good Pm Op, Any development yet ?

So I doubt if it's a snake that keeps making noise in your ceiling. My reasons, If I read correctly you said it shed its skin.

You probably don't know this before but I'll tell you, Snakes when they shed there skins moves far away as fast as possible from that spot. They can't come back anymore, that's fact and you can confirm from elderly ones, they'll tell you more, Unless another snake came in to start causing tantrums up in your ceiling but the one that shed its skin is gone... I'll advice to confirm your claims, know what is up there, if you can't call on someone or people that will.

Peace

For the sake of posterity/ anyone who comes across this thread in the future, let me state categorically that this is a tried, tested and true method of catching snakes. I saw it with my own eyes. I was astonished by the simplistic ingenuity and researched it at that time. It works great. This method will catch the snake alive. Other similar methods that will kill snakes include leaving golf balls around in the vicinity. The snake swallows the golf ball and cannot digest it and utimately dies. Some folks use small light bulbs. Same principle. The snake swallows the lightbulb and dies. One other egg method is to inject a boiled egg with antifreeze and leave it where the snake frequents. Snake eats it and dies. My buddy who raises chickens swears by all of these. You can google and find numerous testimonies.

so snakes dey swallow anything? Jamb was right
