Guys , pls, I have a sister who's in a tight situation and I would appreciate if someone can pls reason with me on this ... she got admission last year to study a course in Engineering , she did applied for visa around May 2018 and she's not gotten any response . along the line last year she couldn't resume so she deferred the offer of admission , now this problem is this - upon request to the school for a new admission letter . The school said their policy for her previous admission have changed and she did not meet the admission requirement again and they can only give her admission in another similar course .

So she wants to take the new admission and present her case to the embassy to compliment whatever she had written in her statement of explanation in either if the two ways

1) that the school decided to issue her another letter of admission in a similar discipline because the previous programme which she was given admission has reached the maximum number of students to be enrolled for the term, thus why she's been given an alternative course so she can resume for the winter. And that Moreso the previous programme is only available once in a year and the admission process is yet to be opened.

The other way is this

2)that she realized that the previous programme now is saturated and prolifirated with lot of people in it in Nigeria and after thorough observation , she discover that there is a dearth of experts in her new programme in Nigeria , she knows that upon completion of the new programme , it will give her an edge and make her a well sort after expert when she return to Nigeria . Hence reason for the new programme

Pls help me choose anyone you think is convincing enough pls

@justmellow, @qudcom @frankrobbn1 @sillysassysally @optimusprime21 @makano @bracha @sashaa and other anointed gurus. Pls help

Hello Phemmisky,

Not only are these VOs been a VO by profession, they are also a psychologist. They mostly assess every application before them with critical views. In this case, let honesty play out, and in my personal opinion; point 1 is a valid reason. These VOs understand the academic Systems in Canada, and most of the VOs would be expecting applicants in this situation to lie.

Good luck!

what happen if he/she defers the admission for like 6months when he/she gets to Canada, will such person have issues when processing PGWP

Yes, may likely be because that was an unscheduled break. Though most international students has managed to get it as it all depends on who handles the application

TRV UPDATE for the week ending May 26th

This week featured quite a number of updates - especially among 2018 applicants. Processing time remained at 9 weeks.

I would encourage those viewing the thread but have not submitted their timeline to please do, as it would help us make logical guesstimates on CIC processing time. Complete information is still needed from Dolapok, Seatea, Oni2019, Promise147, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Teejay30628, Klem28, Boe19, Ancy 26, Omarzx, Hiambenson, Wealthmiq, Teslimot01, Obehi44, Vickglam, Pelumi12, Nochyks87, Harveygordon, Bdemix, Alexkrueger, Emeritus00, Chinonye94, Atamanekpen, Deane, Okoriekwe, and Opana1).

Finally, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better.

The new outlook of the chart is insightful, kudos Sally.

He doesn't have to go to the schools he got the admission on the exception of if the person has gotten another admission from another DLI which in this case the acceptance fee would be forfeitted or depending on the case. All the person needs to do is to update the mickey online account with the new admission letter and DLI number, and that solves it.

For the POE, he can as well go with the old admission letter but should tender the new letter first until being asked for the old one.

BTW the person will be needing a valid admission letter for a DLI change

Good luck!

Yeah,

DLI I meant to say, thanks but I was kinda furious seeing such post that’s why I couldn’t differentiate between DLI and UCI.

Hence, my instinct guided me to such response I gave because of the cases I see.

Nice one!

Tnx boss,

assuming the person have to re-apply to study another course with lesser fees, is that possible and also can it be done when such person gets into the country, will such have any effect?

Applying to other school must be done prior before the completion of the first program which means there must be a valid admission letter at hand already. This way no harm

Is there anybody who has applied for study permit via the online route with a mix of photocopies and originals? If yes, please indicate the documents.

I believe this might help prospective or future applicants.

Thanks Mudicua and Amen to ur prayer, I really appreciate all what you have said about me.. I have learnt in this life to be selfless to people, do good and rejoice with peeps when they get their testimony irrespective of ur situation cos in most cases the good will definitely come back to you... So am anxiously waiting for my own approval cos I know it will come by God's grace.. And to u all also waiting for my approval, thanks very much.. Thanks once again sis and congrats once again.. Love u.. Peace
Mudicua:
Thank you Makano for your congratulatory message.
You are one person I respect here. People like you and Austacus gave me hope. Waiting for your visa, but helping others like you already had your visa. Like I do not know how you guys do it.
I read somewhere that when you lose or give of yourself for others, you will definitely get it back and also find yourself. (dunno if that makes sense... cheesy). You gave of yourself, and you will find yourself, and someone will give for you too.

I started to learn from you on this regards, and I became a bit more active on this forum and also started to share some tidbits or little i know as well.

My prayer for you is that you will rejoice soon and be on the receiving end of congratulatory messages

Shalom!

Hi Guys, happy Sunday. I really need help o.

A friend got his student visa for Canada and he has paid his acceptance fee in the university but he doesn't intend to go to the school yet because he can't afford it. So, he wants to get in and defer so he hasn't paid any part of the tuition. What do you think he should do? Will the border officials let him get in without paying tuition? Even though he has paid his acceptance.

If your friend does not have money, let him defer his current offer while he tries to get admission for January into college/University. He should make sure it is a college/university where the fees are cheap (not more than 5000 CAD). I strongly recommend he goes for a program that has a co-op (most likely college). He should make sure it is a program that has at least 8 months co-op.

Once he gets admission into college, he should try and get money to pay for his 1st semester fees from Nigeria, his 8 months co-op will most likely sort out the rest if he is disciplined.

Please forget the idea of trying to defer and then work while in Canada for 6 months before school starts, It will most likely mess him up when he wants to apply for his PGWP.

Also, if your friend has a job in Nigeria at the moment where he can still get some money from now till January, no need to rush to travel to Canada. Except you have family members that are willing to accommodate you for free (food inclusive) in Canada, it is easier to save money in Nigeria than it is in Canada provided he already has a regular source of income in Nigeria. Save up money, save up money before you travel, you will need it.

This is for other students who don't have enough money

If you don't have money, no scholarship and you want to study in Canada, please be strategic.

(1) Make sure you apply to colleges or Universities with very low tuition.

(2) Make sure it is a 2 years program so you don't have to renew study permit while in Canada.

(3) If you choose 1 year PGC, you will need to renew study permit again and show money in account. If you know you struggled getting money in your account or sponsors, why will you want to go for a 1 year program?

(4) Make sure you choose co-op programs - you get to work full time for up to 8 months during course of study.

(5) you can always change schools even after your visa has been approved. If you need to switch to co-op program or cheaper schools, do it now. It is legal and allowed.

P.s For all those with Visa's or planning to come to Canada, please learn how to cut hair and ladies, if you can learn how to make hair before coming, you will make cool cash.

I cut my hair for 25CAD without shaving and 35CAD if I shave, do the maths (London, ON hair cut price).
I know a lady that charges 80 CAD and above to make ladies hair as a side hustle (she has her regular job). She attends to only 3 customers weekly because of her regular job. If you are a student, this will help you big time most especially when on break.

While waiting 6 months in Nigeria for visa, what are you doing with your time?
