Africa does get referees at international tournaments.

They tend to do referee well.

The only time that I've seen a referee give a single player three yellow cards was when an English referee did so.

MALI committed foul in their 18 yard box,The Reef waved play on,I was Happy then after almost 3 mins of play when d ball went out the Ref started receiving that useless call,after much wait he went to view d incident,upon all my prayers because am sure it wasn't dat intentional by d player,d ref pointed to d spot but the Saudi player Missed it,I was so happy and my hope revived once more,can u imagine as they blow for cornerkick which came after d penalty clearance,d Ref received another call,they ordered for d penalty retake gave d keeper yellow card even for Stepping one foot out of d line before d d kick,,,my man na there I died kpatakpata,I just knew village people don dey follow my only source of income at d moment..Alas Saudi scored,But Mali later won 4-3 killing my bet of under 4.5.....but if na over 1.5 I play,those boys will play 90 mins just 1 goal,the ref and VAR will even cancel many along d line...I have suffered

They were robbed. The goal was not offside and the referee declined to use VAR which is the standard procedure because the "equipment was faulty". If the pitch is bad and can't be used, matches get postponed so why was the match allowed to commence when they knew a vital part of the game was not functional?

That is highly unfair and wrong.

the ref should have been sanctioned and demoted after the Nigeria game but I think yesterday show of shame is all CAF fault. var was not working in one of the continent biggest game which is a big shame.
CAF is not investing in football at all. they spend all the money in hospitality and luxurious treatment of their officials

u are wrong, both are mostly Muslim team, the main reason was in the first leg the Moroccans scored a goal which was denied after consulting the VAR, they had a penalty denied too after consulting VAR twice this time, the ref from Egypt was suspended by Caf for 6 months this week, in this game again they scored an equalizer which was perfect, yet this very ref refused to review the the incident on VAR, upon all their protest, the guys on VAR room should have called the ref too but no way, to be it's like from the highest authority, they want the Moroccans to lose the game.

I am telling you. When are we going to get it right in Africa? This can never happen in any UEFA competition. It is so sad. We haven't reached these whites anywhere.

Bros you did not watch this match... The reason for this your comment.. In the first leg, they were denied a penalty, and some referee errors also occured.. They petitioned the ref after the game and CAF had to suspend the referee for 6 months... In the second leg, the same thing is happening all over again... The signs were so obvious that ES Tunis have been ordained by CAF as the official winner... I love what they did.. I am in support of Wydad...No need to save face.. When justice is demanded and it is not giving, walk away on protest...

That's it. Some people are just commenting without even knowing the full story of the matter. Wydad even scored a goal and it was disallowed, they begged the referee to use VAR to be sure but he refused. What's the essence of VAR then. Fine you can't tell the referee what to do but something was definitely fishy here.

I'm just happy it happened between Northern African clubs, it doesn't concern other regions. It is pathetic. I'm pretty sure this kind of brouhaha would happen again during the AFCON tournament.
I heard VAR would only be used during the knockout phase. Like seriously? What stops them from making it effective from these African club competition? I'm pained that it has to be Africa.

Because of fans turnout. A lot of people in africa are poor, also there's no train network connecting African countries. So if the final should be played one leg in a neutral ground, there will be very low turnout from the clubs fans (and how many fans can afford to fly to go watch their club in another country?) so they make the final two legs(home and away) so there will be high turnout from the respective clubs fans, the organizers will also make good money from tickets sells.

That referee is highly stubborn and arrogant. I can remember vividly, after the game between Nigeria and South Africa, in which he cancelled two clean goals for Nigeria. Someone called him from Brila FM, one of the radio presenters, called his direct line on air.
The presenter asked him why he cancelled the goals and some decisions he got wrong. You know what he said, "Don't talk to me, talk to CAF or write a petition. I don't speak with journalist" and ended the call abruptly.
The guy is arrogant and rude. I understand referees don't speak with journalist but just admit you were wrong. I would have wished he was beaten thoroughly by those Moroccans.

I'm happy because North African countries always feel they are good at getting what they want. Have u ever witnessed our games with these African sides on their home soils? You would see how they intimidate referees, throw different tricks and tantrums, stone our players, try to influence referees to take decisions in their own favour etc. So I'm just happy that it happened between the two north african sides.
So let them cheat themselves.

there was no VAR in Epl and it didn't diminish it's relevance...in UEFA Champions League Var was used only in the knock out...before then we saw wrong calls teams didn't work out...even then in serie a with var there were still wrong call..wydad were wrong to abandon the match simple...when there was no var was football not going on
