vosquare:Sorry for late response. Most synthetic insecticide spray will do but I do not promote any. Sorry, I couldn't be of much help regarding that. Strictly organic to the core. My controlling methods are well stated in previous posts. |

Insect Manure At N5,000 Per Ton. Never Use Poultry Litter Or Dung Again Good day, We have Black soldier fly (BSF) larvae frass, aka manure, called NatSoil available for sale. It’s an excellent organic fertilizer with chitin that deters pest and thus acts as a natural pesticide. It has no odor and contains all the vital nutrients for plants (see attached analysis for dried variant). Please contact me on WhatsApp 08176499981 or on sales@magprotein.ng . Our factory is based in Epe. Price is N5 per kg. Minimum order 2tons. Pick up from Epe. Description and use. Our product NatSoil is a 100% organic fertilizer and soil amendment that acts primarily as a rich soil conditioner and pesticide. It is derived locally from the digestate of the black soldier fly larvae. It is rich in essential nutrients such as; • Nitrogen: 31.5g/Kg • Phosphorus: 7.9g/Kg • Potassium: 3.41 g/Kg Made from insect exoskeletons and excrement, NatSoil is full of beneficial microbial life and chitin – the substance that sets NatSoil apart from other fertilizers. Chitin stimulates the plant's defence response leading to increased resistance to pests and disease, replenished microbe populations and boosted yields at harvest. NatSoil also has “chitosan”, when applied foliarly, will protect plants from powdery mildew, and botrytis and other fungal disease. In summary, NatSoil is a natural fertilizer and has the following benefits for plants and crops: o Promotes early plant growth and seed inoculant o Beneficial microbes for plant growth and production o Improved growth compared to competing products o Low C/N ratio that promotes rapid mineralization and faster nutrient release o 1 to 2% addition rate into soils and potting mixes o Water soluble and can be used in hydroponics and fertigation o Contains chitin and chitosan o No odour o Not a pesticide or fungicide, will not bring new insects into your garden or farm o Improves soil organic matter, soil condition and crop yields Utilization NatSoil can be used in the following applications; Commercial Use - Farms, Lawns: Broadcast 5 tonnes per hectare. Incorporate into soil if possible. Greenhouses: Incorporate 7.5 kg per cubic metre (12.5 lbs/cubic yard) of container medium. Home Use - Urban Gardens, Established Plants, Lawns: Incorporate 2.5 kg per 10 square metres (5 lbs/100 sq ft) into soil prior to planting. Apply 2.5 kg to soil surface after seedlings have emerged. Containers - Incorporate 15-20 mL per litre (1–11⁄2 tbsp. in 4 cups) of planting mix. Frequency Applications may be repeated after 8 weeks. Available in 50kg bags 1 Share |

Update on my Rodeo 62 F1, F1 Cobra 26 Tomatoes. Good to be back with tomatoes (leaving cucumbers behind for Good). The cobra seems to have an early start, can see some fruiting already on some stands but one thing I noticed is the prevalence of leaf roll on my of them . The Rodeo 62 F1 on the other hand looks just fine, broader leaves and no presence of leaf roll. Probably the leaf roll issue is just a thing for cobra (can find any explanation. Especially when the Roma grown on a roll is showing now signs of leaf roll too). |

Tomato Update Just barely some days after the last updates, I can see lots of tomatoes popping out . We are gradually approaching that time of the year friends and family start calling in, asking of tomatoes from my garden. The Cobra seems cool though, and the Rodeo 62 ain't bad either. Time to see first hand what the fuzz and hype of cobra is all about!! . Oh! How I miss Rio grande in my garden . Nevertheless, will be planting a few Roma Savanna to join the lots. Re: Starting Up My Vegetable Farm Garden From Scratch (ugwu, Tomato, Green-leaf) by jidestroud(m): 11:18am On May 29, 2019 |
Cocoboms: Lol . The Cobra should be slightly bigger than it then based on catalog info. How was it growing it? Did you grow during the rains? average fruits per plant? and what's the harvest duration? etc. I am not really about the size though. Just seeing how different varieties respond to my treatment is all I'm after at the moment (especially during this time of the year). Currently during 50plants of each available seeds I come across. (Home consumption only) |
Re: Starting Up My Vegetable Farm Garden From Scratch (ugwu, Tomato, Green-leaf) by Cocoboms(m): 12:42pm On May 29, 2019 |
jidestroud: Grew it during dry season. I didn't count the number of fruits per plant but it's definitely around 50 small fruits. the yield is okay but it's awfully small sized. the harvest during is 30 to 45days depending. |

Update in the garden How I love holidays . So much to be done in my garden, especially with regards to staking my tomatoes. The rain is back and it time to keep watch . Bringing all my experience into practice now, can't afford not to have beautiful harvest this year 2019. On mulching I intend mulching the whole quarter plot bit by bit with my shredded/crushed coconut waste or fiber (not sure of the name jare). Still thinking of possible ways to get it done by the way. At least getting about 10 bags of the waste shouldn't be an issue but getting is crushed is.

Tomatoes doing well, but how I wish I planted my Rio grande. . I've got to optimize fruit production per plant. This is Cobra and I'm guessing I should be having more fruits per plant. . Did a few hand pollination today, waiting to see the outcome in coming days.

jidestroud: Hmmmm! You are dam.n right. Rio Grande rocks. Developed by the University of California to thrive in hot and humid weather. Resistance: Anthracnose, Fusarium Wilt 2, Verticillium Wilt. Fruit size: 170 grams to 226grams. (note: almost all these hybrids around are 70g to 120g. The glorious platinum is around 80 to 90g too, it will struggle to move beyond 100g). It is extremely wonderful in cold and even extreme hot weather with high humidity. Before terrible diseases in soil start occurring, this cultivar defeated all kinds of Roma and other plums for commercial production. When we say commercial, we mean above 10 hectares. This variety is meaty with little seeds inside. Water content is low and very tough for transportation. Downsize: 1. Most commercial seeds are for large land production which is used for paste. So, it is not so tasteful, but still very okay. 2. Baterial wilt will finish it. Blight will destroy it if you are above even 1 plot. 50 to 100 plants are easier to manage. Also, TMV, TYLCV, Bacterial Spot leaves, etc will finish every damn thing on 100 ha. @jidestrouds, please confirm the facts here. Also, like how many fruits did each plant produce the last time you did it? I am seriously working on this variety too. I started the journey 7 months ago. |
