Hello house, can I fill my DS 160 and book an appointment when i receive my case number or do I have to wait till the consulate receives my petition. Thanks.
If your case left NVC and sent to your country, the answer is Yes.

Read this thread from the beginning till the end, you'll get lots of info that'll guide you appropriately. You can also click this link: https://www.nairaland.com/4800968/usa-fiancee-k1-visa-thread/9#74840688

In summary, it's best to wait till you get a go ahead from the embassy before scheduling your interview. You can get the go ahead via email from LagosIV@state.gov or via tracking your status on the consulate website: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker

It's also advisable that you are preemptive while waiting. Don't just relax, send them an email (email should contain the following info: fiance email, case number, date of birth, passport number, phone number) inquiring if they've received your casefile and also be checking your status online.

PS: While booking your appointment, make sure it's at least two to three weeks after your medicals.

Hello People, we just noticed that the DS-160 Confirmation no. on the K1 Visa interview appointment printout is the Old DS -160 confirmation no. the beneficiary used for his last B1/B2 Visa application. Is this anything to worry about or we have to contact the embassy so that this can be fixed to reflect the actual DS-160 confirmation no. filled and submitted for his K1 visa application?

Thanks man! Experience goes as thus.

Went through the normal protocols of security. Then went inside the embassy and waited for probably 5-6 hours? So be prepared to wait. Got there 5:20 and I left 2:10. My appointment was 6:30. 2 COs were interviewing us immigrants. One was a white and the other was a kinda Pakistani or Indian. The Asian guy already denied 2 people due to them not knowing their fiancés well. 2 were told to bring additional documents. After waiting for almost 6 hours, I could see the Asian guy checking my file. Called my number and interview goes thus;

Who is petitioning for you.
When did you meet.
Where did you meet.
How did you meet.
Was she previously married?
What date was her divorce?
How many kids?
How long has she been at her current job?
Does she stay in a house or apartment?
How much is her monthly salary?
How old is she?
How old am I?
How old are her kids?
How many?
How many times she visited me?
When is she going back?

After typing and all bragado. Man said all looks fine, gave me 2 papers, one for pick up and rights as a spouse.

Ran out cos my fiancée was out waiting for me and she was tired. Kissed her 10 times.

My advice, please know the important dates. These people are ready to approve, interview is just mere questioning. Thanks and God bless. To those who have their upcoming interview, stay confident, look them in the eyes. Before I left only 2 people were denied out of 20.

It seems like a drill! I wonder why they had 2 COs this time. Congrats again, the journey continues. Good luck.

Hello house,
Please I need your sincere advice. I'm presently a B1/B2 Visa holder(my second renewal). I used the previous one I had twice(spent 2 & 3 weeks respectively the both times i travelled). I just renewed again last year but i'm yet to travel.
My question is this, My fiancé is a US citizen(he won a lottery few yrs back & just got it a couple of weeks ago) and he wants me to come as a visitor and stay back, then after 90days, we go to the court over there and he starts the AOS for me. Pls i need your advice on the best route to go as the US frowns against this process(going by their recent trend).
Do you think this route will be fine as against just starting a fresh K1 Visa process & how long will that be?

@legitbachelor & other experienced gurus. please i await your response asap. Many thanks!

@sandraigho, I advice you go back home and commence the K1 Visa Process. Its the right thing to do. People have stayed behind in the States, got married and filed to adjust status and got their green card but it's a risk not worth taking.

Hello sandraigho,

You should be looking at between 8-10 months for the process to be complete.

Not too sure if your B1/B2 Visa will be of much significance in the K-1 processing.

Cheers!

@sandraigho, the B1/B2 Visa has no negative effect on your K1 Visa and vice versa. You can even visit your fiancee with your B1/B2 Visa while you wait for the K1 Visa application to be adjudicated upon.

Hi LegitBachelor, guess the name has changed to legithubby now
Congratulations regarding the success of your application, I started reading this post not long ago and I just can't ignore your nice way of responding to questions and sharing spirit. Thank you for being good and I wish you well in your next phase of life.
I'd appreciate if you can enlighten me on the following questions;
1. During the medicals, what is being done and asked at the hospital? In other words what does the whole medical entails, what is one being tested and asked for?
2. Is birth certificate a necessity? What will happen in cases where it's been misplaced.
3. Bearing in mind that you ain't an immigration officer or VO(just kidding) do you think some# of refusals for tourists B1/B2 could be an issue for a smooth K1 application?

Thanks to everyone that helpfully contributed to this thread in sharing and answering questions. Your contributions and efforts are well appreciated by moi and I'm positive many people too.

LegitBachelor:
You've already proceeded na.

You have filled the DS-160 form, made payments and have even created your ustraveldoc profile. So you have proceeded already grin. Or am I wrong?

If you have proceeded already, no problem. Just keep on checking your profile until dates become available. When it does, go ahead and book an appointment before going for your medicals. Please make sure you book your interview appointment before going for medicala.

If you haven't proceeded, no problem. Wait until you get an email from the embaasy then you can go ahead and submit your DS-160 form, make payments and upload your ustraveldoc profile. Keep checking for available dates so you can schedule your appointment interview on time.
