I was going through the Nigeria Prison Entry Level for graduate and I noticed that those with M.B.B.S or Doctors are automatically on Level 12 immediately they are recruited.

Other medical courses are giving more preference in Level than others

Considering the years it will take for someone on grade 08 to reach grade 12 in Federal Government Job you will know that it's quite not fair

But what confused me was Almighty Engineering courses were placed on level 08

It's quite disheartening that we that studied Engineering for 5yrs, solved all those mathematics and spent so much are placed with other courses who studied 4yrs on the same entry level which is level 8 in Federal Jobs

Please I need your taking on this

Why is M.B.B.S placed so high and Engineering not given preference?

Before Someone on level 08 can reach level 12 in Federal Jobs it will take not less than 15yrs.

I think Engineering should be above level 08 for a graduate entry

As a graduate, do you know how many years it will take you to be in coren?
More than 5yrs

It is simply because of the nature and uniqueness of their jobs.. They deserve preferential treatments.

They probably been given enough level to take care of you life incase of life threatening situations

With COREN is SGL 09 and this was only approved last year December at Owerri.
Now for an Engineering graduate to obtain COREN it will take him another 4 years after NYSC(After 4 years you sit for The Nigerian Society of Engineers exams, when successful you can now apply for COREN) and for a polytechnic graduate you must have your Pgd (Pgd in Engineering is minimum of two years)then Wait for another 2 years before sitting for The Nigerian Society of Engineers exams, when you pass you can now apply for COREN. In this case you need approximately 5 years.

In summary to become a COREN registered Engineer you need minimum of 9 years.(Counting from 100 Level or ND 1)

I can tell you why. For your information I am an engineer.
A doctor is readily relevant in the Nigerian society once he is qualified. He gets into the field with less supervision even when we know sometimes he learns from his mistake.
An average Nigerian engineer has no ready contribution. You are only being employed to assist you. You cant design anything. You cant troubleshoot. You cant contribute to anything meaningful. They dont see you as a professional. A Nigerian engineer is almost useless. If you think you can solve maths, who maths elp? Others read Maths/Computer they may even solve it better.

Engineering is irrelevant in Nigeria, if not why are there so many Chinese and Indian expatriates heading construction jobs and projects? medicine on the other hand is highly lucrative in Nigeria, no medical doctor would earn below 100k for a start and a level 12 officer earns about 90k, engineering graduates teach secondary Schools, do menial jobs and can happily accept level 8, no one gives a hoot of maths solved if it's not used to solve real world problems? Since work plenty for engineering grads, why una dey find government work?

Because...they are demi-gods of all Careers.... Doctors are the most Selfish and egotic sect I have seen in the horizon Nigeria Career Hub. Very Selfish people.

Officially, Medical Doctors starting on level 12 is due to the difficulty of their profession and the number of years to study medicine. IMO the major reason is due to the bargaining/blackmailing power of their labour union, the NMA.

That's the silly way the Federal Civil Service promotes mediocrity with their 'charting'.

Do you know how a section of the country by-passes this? They begin their civil service career in their state which doesn't require much to enter. Rise through the ranks faster than those at Federal Level and attain director level in less than 20 years.

They then transfer to Federal and are put on director level...deputy or assistant automatically.

A big lie, school no be scam, I'm earning a living with my degree, that's not even enough and I'm currently doing my masters degree, after that na PhD, people wey say school na scam no go school

Doctors can form....bt I prefer pharmacy
Can't withstand those working environment
