Hello everyone, my sister was recently denied visa to US., though the plan was to have her baby there. Her husband has a cousin that she plans on staying with there.

When I ask her the questions she was asked during the interview this is what she sent.

"What do I wanna do there....to visit
I'm I married...yes
Where do I work...told them
Is my husband a citizen... No..
Just said I'm ineligible. Gave me a paper that contains reasons."

It was the advice of the husband cousin to say she's going for a visit since She is just 4 month in.

What's the way forward, any hope please and advise

Anyone?

I'm so down right now...House please forgive my typo error

Dear All,

Please i need sincere clarification and response

Two years (2017) ago my wife travel to the STATE with an F1 visa, but when she got there she realized she was 2 month pregnant tho she was menstruating and all. Anyway she got registered in the school and became the best in her department even with the pregnancy and all school fees payment was duly paid.

In between she registered for Insurance and medicare as a student through the school to deliver our baby, doing this period she has to chill out a semester so as to have the baby as such she has a semester left but her VISA will expired next week.

Anyway i advise her to come back to Nigeria so as to renew her VISA then go back to finish the last semester and make the family proud. She schedule her interview and eventually got the white paper after enough drilling and all but the VO requested for the medical invoice which she replied she's not with the invoice. She was then told to mail it over to there office at ISOLO.

Since there was no payment made as the insurance covered for the payment we sent a mail to the hospital from Nigeria and they provided the medical invoice but stated it was all covered by ALAMEDA medical and we submitted same at DHL, to my surprise today when i went to DHL for the passport i saw a blue paper. sincerely i almost POO on my body, i read through and realised she has been denied. Sincerely i need advise as am blank right now. I advise her to come over to renew her VISA in Nigeria while she insist i should allow her finish her MSC programme before. Sincerely i'm so sad and sick right now.

Please house what can be done, we got another detailed invoice from the hospital today with the amount the insurance company paid for the medicare. I dont know if another VISA fee should be paid and she should go for another interview or is there a way we can go pay the medical fee and then reschedule another interview as i just want her to finish her MSC and come back home. Please note we paid all school fees totaling over 35000$

I'm so sad and down right now...I just need advise please house

Unfortunate for you. The embassy doesn’t like any non citizen taking Medicare whether on f1 visa or any other type. You however seem to have a genuine case and before making any hospital payment, I’ll say you probably engage a lawyer for the best way forward

Didn’t her school offer medical insurance to international students? Why did she use Medicaid? If my memory serves me right, Alameda Medical is one of California’s Managed Care Plans (MCPs) funded by the CA State Government (aka Medicaid)
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Beautyaddy: 6:14pm On Jun 26, 2019
The highlighted part was the biggest mistake you offered to your wife to do.

You wife is not entitled to any US government benefits(Medicaid or Medicare) even if she has a US baby.

The insurance that your wife signed up for through her school should have covered all the medical expenses that your wife incurred. They should not have resulted into some of it being paid by US taxpayer...the US government really frowns on that.

Hmmm, this is a very tough situation to predict and what next steps to approach it undecided

Your wife and by extension you are in a precarious situation and I sympathize with you cos clearly you acted out of ignorance. I have a question, the visa that is set to expire next week was it cancelled?

If no...get her on the next available plane to go and finish that remaining semester.

The only way I see that decision changing in this trump era is if you repay Medicare. I dont know whether Medicare is same as Medicaid cos I heard to repay Medicaid is a Herculean task

Very unfortunate. But again, I think the poster dem are quite rich. Coming back to renew American Visa wey never expire. Who does that?

I actually renewed my visa successfully in January 2019 after childbirth in December 2017.
fehinebony:

This confirms my assertion! there is a vendetta on Nigerians for US visa issuance especially for child birth related cases. I was at the Lagos embassy on the 19th of December for an interview following a 221g refusal due to my hospital zero balance ( story for another post)
My advice will be that you get a hospital that charges nothing less than $10k minus doctors fee and other charges.
During my both interviews, the emphasis was on the amount I paid for the hospital( $5000) despite stressing that I paid my doctor fee and some bills. I even mentioned the amount I spent on accommodation and living expenses but the VO told me it wasn’t her business and kept insisting the hospital bill was ridiculously small.
Note: after my 221g, I emailed my hospital explaining my experience during my interview and a letter stating in details the reason for the discount was sent, tried presenting the letter but the VO refused, insisting it was not a bill and the content was not her business..
The earlier you schedule your interview, the better.
I wish you all the best and pray God touches the VO that interviews you.

Sorry about this situation, it is a really big mistake to have asked her to come back to renew visa, as long as she is in status over there she has not need to renew visa unless she wants to travel out of the US and then it is always advised that you renew your visa before leaving the US to avoid this kind of situation.

International students insurance in the US normally cover pre exiting condition which include pregnancy and that is what should cover the bill, let your wife talk with her school insurance provider on the possibility of taking up the bill and reimbursing medicare.

Another problem was telling the vo you did not come with the medical invoice when you had non. You can reapply and clearly explain the situation especially the international students insurance that clearly cover such bill

For all those asking, this has been answered already. Visa on arrival for newborns was stopped at the end of May.

The official price for an ETC is $150 according to the Consulate's website. Of course, you cannot trust anything the government is involved with and as usual, there are agents all around involved in racketeering.

They asked for a passport photograph and a photocopy of the birth certificate. You also need a consent letter signed by both parents and notarised (you can do this at a bank or post office), and copies of both parents' Nigerian passports, and then you fill a form.
