In this country, if I asked you to list 5 helplines as well as NGOs dedicated to helping rape victims get justice, counselling and treatment, would you be able to provide their info and access to such victims?

When there is an arm robbery incidence in your district, you know calling police maybe a problem, because you may call but no response, but then you just have to call them. I know you will say robbery and rape are not the same but both are crimes. And when there is crime something has to be done immediately, not when you cannot get hold of the criminal.

Nobody said it was not possible. All I did was to highlight why rape victims are highly reluctant to report the sexual assaults they have been through, to the police. The stigmatisation depresses them, and the fact that there is little or no support, makes them bottle it up for years.

Those who are courageous enough to speak out like Busola has done, should therefore be encouraged and supported, not victimised or stigmatized, like so many people are doing to her now.
