I am not going for an Msc, but a PGD...I really don't know how getting supervisors with funding works..

I suggest you go to thread 15.. and read up cos there were Msc applicants who applied, got supervisors and funding and got visas...

Mehn! I went to get stamps from our immigration at MM airport in lagos (dubia, Ghana and ivory Coast stamps)... The immigration officers I met there were assuring me that I can use it anywhere (since I'm applying for Canadian study visa)....

After some thorough thinking, I decided I will not use it (I've not used it), my body nor dey carry anything illegal.

I had to go to passport office and told them I lost my passport and request for a new one. 120k (for stamps) and 60k for the passport gone just like that.

Hi,

I'm curious to know what you thought you needed stamps for? To convince the VO you had travelled out of Nigeria?

A "travel history" refusal reason is just a generic reason that accompanies most refusal letters, it doesn't really have any weight. The other reasons on the other hand, are the main reasons you should have addressed.

I and a lot of people got our visas without a travel history, as in we got our visas on brand new passports.

Hopefully you've learned from this, and can properly advise someone else in the future.

Write a better statement of purpose that's all. A clearer, more straightforward and straight to the point type would suffice.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Bracha: 6:52pm On Jul 05, 2019
Family ties means you need to prove you have strong family ties in Nigeria, that would necessitate your returning after the completion of your degree.

Purpose of visit means you need to write a better statement of purpose which would clearly state the your reasons for choosing the course, school, Canada, and what you intend to do with the degree when you return.

Finance means they don't think you have enough money to pay your fees and cater for yourself in Canada without working. So, you have to prove all these.

Please go through the previous pages of this thread, especially pages 1 of each new thread, to find out ways to address these refusal reasons.

Good luck.

Your SOP being 4 pages long doesn't matter. What matters is how well you address and articulate the answers to the questions: why this course? Why this school? Why Canada? What would this course do for you? What would bring you back to Nigeria?

Write the SOP very well, submit the required documents, and you'll get your visa by God's grace.

So sorry to hear about your refusal, all hope is not lost, ordering your Gcms is the best step now. I wish success as you make steps to apply again. Also, I will advice you defer your admission to Winter so you can have enough time to prepare.

Am not a guru, just my opinion.

The major reason was insufficient fund. Every other one is generic. I actually have enough funds to show in the application but my LOE was poor and I didn't connect any of the documents a submitted.
My personal SOA was 3m
Sponsor SOA's was 10m +10m and USD6K
When i was uploading POF i brought my documents first, which was almost 20 attached pages before my sponsor document.
Probably the VO made judgement based on the my SOA.

GCMS notes takes an average of 30-40 days. Search on Google and you'll see some websites where you can order your GCMS notes from. I would have drop the website I used to order mine but nairaland doesn't condone the habit of posting external websites on this thread.

Good day to all the knowledgeable persons who are making out time to share their knowledge with newbies and applicants in quest for Canadian study permit.

I'm very optimistic about my reapplication for Sept 2019 because I tackled the VO's concern but I have a little challenge, fam.

My passport will expire by Jan 2020 and I'm wondering if I should send a new passport alongside my old passport that I used for reapplication once PPR drops because my intent is to travel by Jan 2020??

I'm asking because student visa can't be valid for more than the stipulated expiration date on a passport.

Hope to hear from everyone who have a first-hand knowledge on this.

Cc Frankrobbn1, makano, TheAfrikan, guzenaira, Mudicua and everyone that I sincerely can't remember their usernames.
If PPR comes while the old passport is still valid, submit both old and new, but if it comes after the expiration date of the old passport (we don't pray for it) then only the new one should be submitted (including the old one won't be a crime but since the new one will have the old one's number then no need).

Ghana and ivory coast stamp? with that money you can actually travel to those countries by road and get more stamps(from other countries that you will pass through before getting to Ghana)and flex for close to a week.
That aside, travel history isn't not an issue if you can tackle other things (purpose of visit, family tie, personal asset...) Check your gcms note to know the reason behind your delay
