Wrong very wrong. And it's really bold of you to assume that people that take their lifes are weak, while those who back off are strong. It is actually the opposite.
Do you know what it takes to take ones life. Ask people that have tried it, I'm speaking from experience. It takes more than two balls of steel to snap your life. Because you have to be strong enough to defeat your survival instincts(The strongest instinct in any living thing)

Suppose that two people suffer from depression, both of them contemplate suicide, one gives in and the other is determined not to take his own life and decides to give life another shot. He goes through the same challenges, but approaches them differently. At the end of the day, he gets over everything and finds joy again. Which of them showed strength? The one who committed suicide or the one who didn't?

Everybody has sad tales to tell about incidents that have happened in our lives. We all have had challenges. In my own personal experience, I have never even contemplated taking my life because I was raised to understand the consequences. I was raised to understand the everlasting torment, torture and pain that accompanies death by one's own hands. Whatever hard times you're going through now are nothing compared to spending eternity in everlasting torment.
And then, the .message of grace is sipping farther and farther away from this generation we live in. Parents are not teaching their children the way and the light. They don't know where to turn to in times of distress. Young people killing themselves because of bad grades!!! How can someone decide to live in everlasting torment just because of an F in a course? Or a relationship breakup? How?

She was a student, don't rule out heartbreak and relationship issues, it might be poor performance in academics, it might not be lack of money

Me as one .. I grow up facing my difficulty in life (at least relative to some people) at very tender age (9'10 years) I sell corn , I do labour , I clear weeds for our neighbourhood and in the street .. We struggled . I fail in school at very small age I experience depression (at least if not as much as others) I was made to repeat a class thought I am brilliant .. I couldn't even get through it for some days . But above all I keep going ...

Since I was too young to commit or think of suicide I thought it just a normal way I was destined to live (though wrong) .. Bros and sis pls .. Don't always pray for an easy life .. Pray for strength ..
if you failed in times of adversity your strength is small ...
Be close to your creature .. Now I realized all those though times only build me .. Above all suicide is an option but not for the strong but for the weak who have no where to paddled their life boat ..
Stay close to God .. Hard work pays a lot keep working be diligent be truthful .. Have a clear conscience ..
I bet there is so little competition .. You will make it and even be justified ...

I dont know why our youths no longer fighting spirit because it amazes me why someone will just take his or life maybe because of unfavourable circumstances. That shows a complete lack of faith in Ur ability and capacity of Ur maker to turn ur situation around for good, my advice to our youths who are mostly the victim is to remain positive because nothing last forever. That Ur deeams are not met today doesn't mean u will remain a failure forever. God loves U.

Granted that negative news sells, I think present-day internet media need to be regulated. Nairaland mods, kill these stories and don't promote them to front page. You hardly know who is reading and what state of mind they are in.

Also, we need to be careful about reporting and broadcasting suicide and strategies for suicide through Facebook, Whatsapp or any other channel. Anyone with a phone and internet connection who reads suicide news would jump at it at the slightest onset of difficult times.

Nairaland mods, get one of your writers who write those fanciful stories that get up to 20 pages in comments to serialize what to do when one faces difficult times. I am sure you can in your own way curb the menace of suicide. Media is powerful, please.

Only Ignorant folks think people who take their own lives are foolish and are cowards. If there is anything more difficult than putting an end yo your own life, please I wish to know that thing. Somebody just took the most difficult decision known to mankind and we think its a shame thing to play with? We must keep engaging out friends and family. We won't be there when they invite the ripper. But we can be with them now and prevent them from giving the Ripper an Invitation.

There's no excuse for suicide, it doesn't solve a thing. Suicide is for the mentally weak, some of us have gone through very terrible phase in life and came out stronger. Suicide is never an option and should never be defended under any circumstance.

If you haven't attempted taking your life before then don't say a thing on this thread, you think what leads to suicide is a joke?you think to decide to take your own life is child's play?if you have never thought of suicide then you haven't reach the peak of your problems in life yet,now you think those who commit suicide are being foolish because you think like an infant,you have no ideal what real depression is, you have no idea of what it means to be marooned at the middle of the Pacific to swim your way to life while sailors cheer you up passing by in their ship,you have no idea to be in a situation where no one believes you or wants to understand you,you have no idea of what it means to seek money for a surgery and people who can afford to give you that tell you all they could offer is a prayer,as I have said you have no idea about this ailment called depression you are on your own in depression no angel or demon can pull you out of that because they don't feel,God gave only a man the power to do so,but when a man fails,you would be dragged into a sees pool of darkness then perish,but when you survive you become in evitable because you have conquered death in a battle to live and die with a purpose.only those powerful people can relate to what I have written, so I urge all you kids blaming people for comiting suicide to shut it!.the only reason why you blame people for comiting suicide is because you think their choice or options are as clear as yours. You have no idea.

I don't know your religion but I want you to know that whatever anyone is passing through, Jesus Christ said it has expiring date. It's just for a while. It'll not consume you but to bring out a better you.

Jesus said to those that are in Christ, there's hope for them.

No matter the situation, no worries, no problem, no circumstances would make a true believer, who believe that God is his father, to take his own life.

God wants us to take up our Cross while trusting Him for a change of story for our next level breakthrough. Suicide is not of God.

I want to suggest that Religious Knowledge be made compulsory in our schools including higher institutions irrespective of your course of study.

Commuting suicide doesn't solve the problem most times but rather leave the love ones with pains.

May God grant the family and friends she left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
