There's absolutely nothing wrong in attaching a fixed deposit in your application. Infact, I always do this with my mutual fund account. And the idea of people thinking you must have alot in your salary account is not ideal. Nobody does that and visa folks are quite aware of this. One glaring mistake is you claiming to have £6000 plus for this trip when in actual sense what you have is your N1.3m. There might be other issues like the build-up of the N1.3m which is very very key.

Now, this is what I do very often. I don't keep any fund in my bank account. But anytime i have to apply for visa, i do a part liquidation of my mutual funds to show enough funds for the trip. I also ensure i get a letter from the firm stating that the funds are readily available whenever i need it within 24hrs. Stanbic Asset will give you such letter plus the stmt of account. Lastly, I'll attach a letter of explanation detailing the rationale behind these actions. I have NEVER kept an amount double the figures i intend to spend on a particular trip in my salary account.

You really need to check how you raised these funds. They like seeing regular monthly income and they know Nigerians invest in money market instruments alot. Nothing totally wrong in your fixed deposit, your application probably was not well put together. You definitely need to learn more from the gurus here.

There is no question on how the funds were raised, the trails are there. With what I have read here, the problem was inadequate information about my financials. I didn't write cover letter to explain my investments.

I just want to contribute to those with low budget for UK visiting visa. If you budget is low and you are filling the application form about if you have someone depend on you. please say NO to avoid your visa been denied.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by giselle237: 1:21pm On Jul 07, 2019
Appointment for 12noon would most likely take up the rest of the work day.. this is summer period and so many applicants including those from previous hours in the day who have not finished theirs. This season is jam packed
If you cant risk not been on seat for your MD’s visit book appointment for another day

I'm happy for you and confident you can now guide others. I did 2yrs visa for my parents in May and twas successful too. By just following what I shared with you, there shouldn't be any problem. I'll tell my parents to watch out for you and your mum in the uk grin

I was worried because my mum is a pensioner and she doesn’t have much in her account. All I did was to attach my own statement of account and said I would be responsible for all her spending. I live in the Uk, just want her to visit.
Congratulations to your mum and dad. Thanks once again.

A friend of mine will be traveling to UK on a visiting VISA (6months validity). He has a cousin in London who is living there LEGALLY (work and resident permit). His cousin told him the main thing is they grant him VISA and leave the rest to him to handle that he won't return to Nigeria. His cousin told him to learn a skill like photography, barbing, tailoring e.t.c in Nigeria before he comes over, so that he can manage that before he settles down finally because he's not eligible to work with a visiting VISA. He said it won't be rosy at first, but if he can be patient enough, everything will fall in place and he'll get his work and resident permit later. My friend's cousin in London talked about getting married to a citizen of UK (later later) and she'll be the one to file for him to get a work and resident permit. I just want to ask, can it work out like that ?

asin we should tell you if it’s possible and/or how to jump visa and become an overstayer in the UK thereby violating all terms of a visit visa? pls ask your friend and his cousin... they are gurus on this subject matter

No it doesn't work like that and your friend's cousin is clueless. Your friend will never get a work permit in the UK only if the rule changes tomorrow, he must come back to Nigeria to apply for spouse visa if he married a citizen then the issue of overstay will catch up with him.

In June 2017, I invited my dad to visit me in the UK for three weeks, but his visa was refused.

I submitted...

1. my bank statement
2. Proof of mortgage
3. Six month payslip
4. Letter of invitation

My dad is in his 70's. A retired business trader and currently relies on me for Monthly stipend which I send via western union online to his bank acount every month.

At the time of filling the form back then. On the form..he was asked if anyone depends on him and lives with him at home and also if he had any family ties.

He 'put' on the form..Yes

And he stated in the additional information that my mum and my immediate elder brother (in his 30's) who is visually impaired 'depend' and lives at home with him as my brother needs care as a result of his medical condition. my dad stated this as family ties and he will be coming back to Nigeria.

At the time...my dad did not realise that 'dependent' as stated on the form means 'financially dependent'.

At the time...he did not submit his bank statement or any proof to show my brothers medical records.

I didn't raise an eye brow on this at the time of that application in 2017 as I had one year earlier invited my mum and she was granted a visa without submitting any of her bank statement as I was sponsoring her entire trip.

I now know better about submitting lots of proofs after reading and following this thread for the past three months!

I am now looking to invite him again. I will be sponsoring his entire trip including flight. Accommodation. Feeding.

This time looking to supply the following....

1. Mortgage statement

2. Current account And savings account Statement with £5,000 balance (will transfer £1,500 from savings to current and then to my dad's account to support his flight ticket)

3. Letter of invitation

4. Payslip six month

5. Flight itinerary

6. 12 months Proof of monthly stipend receipts that I send monthly to him

My dad will be submitting the following

1. a cover letter addressing the 2017 refusal and stating that he retired from trading business and does not have a pension and relies on stipend from me. And that he misunderstood the question that while my brother lives at home...he (dad) is not financially responsible for him as my dad is retired. The finance that care for my brother comes from monthly stipend I send to my parents every month.

2. Six Bank statement that shows the monthly stipend I send to him

3. Bank statement that shows stipends I send to my mum too

4. A medical certificate for my brother from a private hospital where he does his monthly medical check up

5. Letter from my mum stating she will care for my brother while my dad is away on this trip

I have attached the refusal letter from 2017 to this post

Will the fact that my elder brother living at home affect my dad's application as my dad is retired?

Can you good people in the house kindly advise on what else I need to add as documentation and if I am missing anything out.

I will appreciate every help I can get.

Thanks very much.

Please kindly advice me , I want to invite both Dad and Mum(Both Retired Teachers, Pensioners) over for my wedding, is it okay for me to apply for tourist visa so they can attend the wedding or just send an invitation for wedding? My Aunt. who is a British Citizen is suggesting of sending my Mum and Dad an Invitation by herself for holiday just for them to come in during that wedding period. Thanks and I look Forward for your suggestion.

His cousin told him the main thing is they grant him VISA and leave the rest to him to handle that he won't return to Nigeria.. Please your friend should not trust any body even if they are blood brothers. There have bin cases of disappointments in trusting pple especially on this case. Let your friend think twice. How long will his cousin accommodate him? As a visitor he can't rent an apartment bc landlords will check his status in the UK bf giving apartment. Your friend will not leave a free life, always living in fear of immigration. He will stay in the UK for 20years bf any lawyer can assist him to legalise his stay. Is that what your friend want? Not an easy life.

My friend's cousin in London talked about getting married to a citizen of UK (later later) and she'll be the one to file for him to get a work and resident permit. I just want to ask, can it work out like that ?. Even if your friend marry a British citizen, he will still come bk to Nigeria with his British wife to do court marriage and apply for spouse visa. Moreso the British wife have to meet all the spouse visa requirements bf he can bring your friend bk to UK and your friend will be refused spouse visa for overstaying. But there is still probability of him getting the spouse visa later on in future. My advice to your friend let him go for his visit, stay the duration of time he put in his application and apply again for two years. It is better for him to be visiting and come bk to Nigeria than overstaying his visa.
Not an easy life in the UK overstaying your visa.

Good day Mr justwise, please help me review the following budget. My wife and two kids (12 and 9 years old) is about to apply for 6 months UK tourist visa.

My wife is working with a disposable monthly income of N440,000

BUDGET BREAKDOWN FOR 3 PEOPLE
Flight (Economy return) - £1,100.00
Accommodation (13 nights)- £806.00
Feeding - £200.00
Transportation - £120.00
Tourism - £120.00
Miscellaneous - £50.00
Total - £2,396.00 (N1,081,640.00)

The total is like 200k above 2 times my wife's disposable income. My question is can she indicate that her husband will support part of the expenses by indicating the difference (200k) as what I (the husband) will be adding to the money. If yes, what document will I need to provide to back my support. Please note I will not be travelling with them.

Hey guys,

Please do they ask for a return ticket to Nigeri at Heathrow on entry?

My friend has a return ticket from Nigeria to the UK from her last trip and would like to use now to go to the UK for a holiday.

Would it be a problem for her at Heathrow?

Just so you know you can't get married to a UK citizen with an expired visa or visitor's visa. You must go back to Nigeria to do that.

Please do they ask for a return ticket to Nigeri at Heathrow on entry? Well it is depending on the immigration officer that one meet at point of entry, Some ask and some might not ask. It is not rare asking for return ticket. Bc I have never bin asked for any return ticket. But safer to carry along return ticket.

Good day Justwise & other gurus in the house. I intend to apply for UK Visit Visa for myself, wife & 4 year old son in December. This will be our 2nd time applying as a family, as we were refused visa in 2016 for financial reasons. I had a closing balance of 750k & I proposed to spend 1m on the trip. After going through this thread, I understand now that the refusal was justified. I need second opinions & advice from this house as I reapply.

I am gainfully employed (I receive 467k) monthly & my wife, son & my dad depend on me. My monthly expenses average 290k. I presently have in my gtb account about 420k & 1.2m in my sterling bank account. My salary account is Access & I usually move all the money to my gtb, immediately my salary comes in, from where I make all transactions & save the balance to my sterling bank. My wife is self employed & has a registered business where she deals on bakery ingredients & accessories. My brother in the UK, a british citizen, will take care of our feeding & accommodation while I shall solely be responsible for other expenses. We shall be spending 10 days.

Financials
I intend to submit my 3 bank statements with the following opening balances;
Sterling - 1,013,000
GTB - 687,000
Access - 475,000

I envisage to have a closing balance in my sterling account of #2.2m & say 300k in my GTB account at the time of applying.

Expenses
I estimate to spend #852,285.20 on the trip (flight tickets, access fees to places of attraction & maybe bus passes).

I intend to submit my employment details (employment, confirmation, promotion & company introduction letters, Payslips, ID cards, TCCs)
Wife's coy CAC registration(am also a director here), coy & personal bank statements, sales invoices) - to show her strong ties to naija.
I shall also attach my land property docs as well as the usual documents (including cover letter & invitation letter).

So my people, I need your opinions, observations & advice, most especially on gaps that may not be visible to me.

I look forward to your responses.

Good day all.

I applied for tier2 visa last week Thursday, and proceeded for walk in on Friday. Then my wife said she wasn't going to proceed with her application as a dependent. Yesterday she changed her mind and have paid for her application.

Would she need a cover letter to validate her application since we applied few days apart, or will just adding the supporting documents help.

Kindly assist with answers.

Greetings to all the Gurus in house. Please I want to apply for UK visa for a conference in August 23rd. The organizers are going to take care of my flights and accommodation. Is it wise for me to apply judging that today is July 8th? Will it be possible to get a decision before August 23rd? If not, is there a way I can apply for a quicker decision before August 23rd? Gratitude to the house.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by giselle237: 5:26pm On Jul 08, 2019
Your salary is 467 and your monthly expenses equals 290k leaving you with a disposable income of 177k monthly.. please you cant afford to spend over 852k thousand on a 10 day trip if this is what you would write. Thats almost 5 times the salary you are declaring as your income. It is not acceptable. Pleaseeeeeeee go work on your whole budget and the people you will declare as dependents as well as your disposable income after monthly expenses. They need reduction.
