If I hear hard work for Una mouth ehn.

I lost reasonable money to Ecobank staff negligence sometimes ago.

I made a transaction which the beneficiary claimed didn't receive and had been debited from my Ecobank account. I insisted the beneficiary should hold on till I confirm what happened from Ecobank before making another transaction.

I went to Ecobank branch and I was asked to fill in a disbursement error form which I did.

I asked repeatedly as I never trusted the beneficiary if I could go ahead and make a new payment to the beneficiary, the customer care lady said a capital yes assuring me the initial fund will be reversed to my account immediately as I'd filled the disbursement error form.

I left and made a fresh payment to the beneficiary, and I forgot about the whole thing..

2days, 5days one week gone no reversal.
I went to the branch again to complain, it was then they started looking for the disbursement error form I filled a week ago.
When they eventually found the form, it was discovered that the form wasn't processed, during the period, the cash cleared into the beneficiary's account unaltered because the form was not processed..

We started sending mails to Lagos office to rectify the issue, the guy in Lagos equally didn't respond tilll about 26days of the whole mess.. We kept calling from the branch phone, the branch manager's mobile number and my personal mobile number, the idiot was not on desk for days, and wasn't responding to mobile phone calls..

When he finally responded after 26days.. He only commented "the transaction cleared into the beneficiary's account" that was how I lost the money..

I quietly stoped using the account for any transaction since 2016. I just counted Ecobank out of my business life.

It may be funny that most employee don't deserve what they actually earn and can be so shameless to come to protest ground without conscience..
And the beneficiary did not return the excess! People can be wicked

I remember when I lost my BankPhb job in 2009. I made the decision never to work in a bank again. Sadly, the situation of bank workers is still the same. They close from work everyday without any assurance that they will still have the job the following morning.

Young graduates should look beyond building a career in the banking sector. It can be your stepping stone but please, start looking for opportunities in other sectors. Don’t ever stay more than five years in a bank.

The New tellers were recruited by the MD outsourcing company which is conflict of interest and fraud. In a sane country, it calls for investigation. The Old teller were paid peanut as severance which is calculated by dividing their monthly salary into two then multiply by number of years which is very very poor. For example a teller salary is 79k and he worked for 7years. That means 34500×7=241,500. This is evil. For someone to have worked for Long without any fraud, No breach of regulatory policies that expose the bank to any sanction. The management has decided to make them cry to me that is an act of witchcraft.

Ecobank. The bank that do not use deposit slip. Just walk in, call out your account number and how much you are depositing. That's as stingy and wicked the managers of the bank can be. But I sort of like it though. Stress-free. I once asked a staff why it's like that and she says, well, that's what the management instructed them to do. You walk in, and only one person is attending to four rows of customers until they started losing customers. Now, you walk in even at peak hours and you won't find not more than two people in front of you. A whole ECOWAS supported bank fa. I really hope this new Eco currency works out.

They acquired the first bank. I was using... I just ghosted

Mr. Genius is make-up legwork? ; carry your gospel to people that want to listen to you. Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world, one pansy hand work is not bad, but it certainly would not make you rich or superbly comfortable to society's expectations in present day Nigeria.

I have 3 accounts with them but stopped operating them because of their inefficiency.

I was not getting mobile notification for my transactions and went to resolve it. On getting to the bank, the customer service personnel gave me a form to fill after wasting so much time which i did.
After some days of not getting notification for transactions, I went back only to be told the the customer service personnel who gave me the form to fill and to whom I submitted the completed form to has been moved to another unit. The terrible thing was that they couldn't trace the form I submitted and was asked to fill another form. The question I asked was, if they don't have a process that guarantees continuity. Is it that when an employee moves from one position to another all ongoing tasks the employee handles prior to the move will be lost? The reply was the type that you get in a Nigerian government office "You know how things are, don't be angry, just fill another form and I promise you the issue will be resolve".

After submitting another completed form, I still did not get any notification.

I jejely took my money and went to my other banks.

Months after moving my money, I started getting notification .
The funny thing about the notification was that I was getting credit alerts for interest paid but the available balance kept depleting. I didn't even bother.

Months later I got a reversal on the unexplanable debits made over the period. Still I didn't bother.

Ecobank is like Nigeria civil service. Poor service delivery.

That's why it's better to always collect loan as a bank worker, I'm sure they won't attempt sack during the repayment period. I may be wrong sha. I have a friend there, I don't even know the best advice I can give him.

If you are a banker and you fail to take up loan because you don't like debt, you are own your own. It is an opportunity for you to set up your side hustle business or build your own house depending on your level. If they sack you, at least you have achieved something. But if you are afraid of loan and you are sacked, that one na double jeopardy.

Make use of every opportunity your place of work offers you. Either an opportunity to learn, train yourself, borrow money from the company and others.

And they are recruiting new staffs

From what I hear the recruitment and training for the new intakes were done by an (outsourced) recruitment agency owned by the wife of the Managing Director, Mr Patrick.

He's due to retire next year, so i think he's trying to milk the bank as much as possible for his personal interest.

The board of directors should as a matter of urgency, call the MD to order before it's too late.

What do you mean? Do you know the working hours at the bank takes away all their time? How would you plan ahead if you were in such shoes?

To the extent it was their fault. But dealing with the type of character is another issue. It is not like paying money to a stranger. Sometimes you have to cut some characters off your life for your peace of mind no matter the business they bring to your life.

That wasn't my point. Too many people glorify this hand work thing like it's a super alternative to paid employment. Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world; after your hand work training, is it not the same pauper employees you belittle that will patronize you?.
