Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru has turned down a move to Russian Premier League club CKSA Moscow, according to his agent Guillaume Costet-Barmada.

The Everton-owned winger was immediately loaned out to Anderlecht when he joined the Toffees in the summer of 2017 and spent the whole of last season at Galatasaray because he was denied a work permit to play in the Premier League.

Onyekuru might be loaned out again in the upcoming season or sold on a permanent basis as he has not played 75 percent of national team games over the past two years, a requirement before he can be granted a work permit.

''We had a proposal from CSKA, but the player decided to refuse the Moscow club,'' Costet-Barmada told Sport 24.

Last season, Onyekuru helped Galatasaray win the double, scoring 16 goals in 44 games across all competitions.

The 22-year-old has a contract at Everton until the end of the 2021-2022 season.

Club Brugge forward Arnold Groeneveld Danjuma was capped by the Netherlands to stop his planned switch of allegiance to the Super Eagles of Nigeria, according to Dutch journalist Roland Mark.

Danjuma has settled down nicely in the Belgium top division since his move from second division Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegen on a free transfer in the summer and his form led to a tug for his international future between Nigeria and the Netherlands.

Born in Nigeria, the forward whose father is also from the West African country has spent the most part of his life in the Netherlands and represented their U19 team three years ago but as at his last game for the U21s this year, he was still eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level.

All of that ended when he played for the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League game against Germany, where he was introduced as a substitute in the final 22 minutes of the game.

” Injury made him miss the recent games for the Dutch national team but it’s clear to see why he was hurriedly capped by the Netherlands. He isn’t even the best player among the forwards at U21 level, his debut came to many as a surprise but you have to understand his case”, Roland Mark told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Look he spoke about been open to representing Nigeria at senior level after a game for the U21s. Coach of the senior national team of Netherlands Ronald Koeman was among the people who criticised how Tyronne Ebuehi was lost to Nigeria. His move is to keep away from Nigeria, something they didn’t do with Hakim Ziyech who now plays for Morocco “, he concluded.

What are you saying? Lookman have turned Nigeria down, Jordan Ibe, Nnedum Onuoha, Agbonlahor, Chucks Aneke, Tammy Abraham, Shola Ameobi (when he was good), Charlton Cole, Ugo Ehiogu, Chuba Akpom ( when he was a top prospect), I can name more.

Bros true Nigerians don't wait for a special invitation to represent Nigeria. You don't wait for red carpet IVs. Read the story about Nduka Ugbade and even Isaac Success. These guys used to sneak into the camp of the U17s uninvited, repeatedly they were asked to go home but they refused until they were given a chance.

How on earth can you compare these guys to the example I cited. I feel insulted reading these fBs are more Nigerian than the average street kid in Lagos. Just because they can say a few lines in pigin and dance azonto very well at parties.

Everything must be understood in context.

The context of Nigeria is different from the UK.

What motivates most players today is not patriotism but economic hardship and desperation to leave Nigeria and find better opportunities abroad. The U17 has been historically a spring board for many career in football for Nigerian born and resident players. Such desperate Dans are prepared to do almost anything. Sign off thier allowances to the coach, sign up with his preferred agent or proxy agent, etc, etc.

THAT IS NOT PATRIOTISM so before we proceed get clarity on what national patriotism is and whom the true Nigerian is and should be.

A Nigerian origin player in England playing for an EPL club could easily be on £20k a week. Such players are not hungry and or desperate. They are uncompromising on the subjects of probity, integrity and professional etiquette. Something that may be alien to most Nigerian residents players, essentially they can not afford to have integrity. And the coaches all take advantage.

Fortunately and unfortunately l have first hand information on a number of these situations.

Ademola Lookman and Ovie were invited to U17 selection when they were relatively anonymous. They were not selected WHY and the entire exercise was marred with sharp practices and blatant corruption. It would leave a bitter taste in many a persons mouth.

Nigeria had the chance to sign Ovie and Ademola but rejected them, they did not reject Nigeria. Now that have blown and we are now looking for Ademola.

Jordan Ibe was bought up by his Jamaican step Father very nice guy. His Nigerian Father was NEVER AROUND that creates issues in itself. He has never shown any affinity for anything Nigerian.

Last week l spoke with Ovie he is waiting for the call up NUTTIN so far.

Chuks Aneke is now in the championship with Charlton arguably the best AM in league one and two. When he was at Arsenal the NFF flirted with him but didn't carry matters much further again.

He waited for call up NUTTIN.

I agree that Onouha and Agbonlahor didn't honour invitations but that's more to do with inability of the NFF to have strategy to ensure long-term engagement and relationships with Nigerian origin players in England. You don't wait for them to blow first.

In conclusion l ask what makes you Nigerian ❓ That ability to give and take bribe the absence if truth, honour, integrity and righteousness❓ ❓

I say this because I was born in the UK although made in Warri. I speak my language as well as Ibo and a smattering of other Nigerian languages. However, it is much easier for me to win an election as an MP in the UK than it is for me to contest basic state house of assembly in my state Delta. Unless I am prepared to reject truth, honour, integrity and righteousness, join cult and swear oath of allegiance to some high flying god Fathers.

However, I am not prepared to do this, so by your proposition, can l ask you, am l not a PATRIOTIC NIGERIAN

Out of curiosity, why do you suggest the subs? I think we should still feature our best team so we can get a medal. If the subs you recommended would form the best lineup, perhaps because they may have a better frame of mind psychologically, then I agree with you. But if it is simply to have them enjoy more game time at the AFCON, I don't think that's a good idea. I wouldn't treat this game as a high level friendly.

Napoli have a lodged a bid for Everton winger Henry Onyekuru.

A £7 million signing from KAS Eupen in 2017, Onyekuru has yet to make an appearance for the Toffees.

Onyekuru has spent time on loan at Anderlecht and Galatasaray, where he scored 16 goals last season.

Le Soir says Everton might be tempted to offload the Nigeria international after receiving a bid from Napoli in the region of £14m.

I know this is hindsight but Mahrez would not have beaten Uzoho in goal for that freekick. Akpeyi is just too poor in organizing a wall and positioning himself.

I recall even the great Messi couldn't beat Uzoho from similar close range, edge-of-the-box-kinda fk at Russia 2018. Uzoho tipped it to the post. Sigurdsson too could not beat him.
Even with that said, Uzoho is also average (on the better side of average if you ask me compared to Akpeyi) and needs to improve. He is still 20 and I trust he can. But Akpeyi is never going to get better. It is too late.

I guess Uzoho's size might come in handy...don't think he's that agile though and Mahrez free kick had a lil more power.

Valid points. But some of these guys are tired, it was obvious against Algeria. Etebo has played every second in this afcon, musa has accumulated a lot of minutes in my opinion. In 1992 which I recall well, players like Friday ekpo, ene okon, dotun alatishe who took no part before we lost the semis got a chance to play and gave a good account of themselves, we won by 2-1 through a special Friday ekpo free kick and good goal by Yekini. This 3rd place is a meaningless game to me and should be treated as a friendly in my opinion. But then like you said some people will come out and say he's toying with emotions. If they lose, people will still come and say he should have tried new players, anyway we lose, people won't be satisfied. Even if we win, some will say we won ugly.
Nothing can be done to please us, me inclusive.

Sorry if I am drifting away from today's match but....this is what Pep himself said today.

"West Ham created problems, had chances
and played good. After the summer time,
after most of them having just four
training sessions, it is normal to make
mistakes, but is it good! It is better to see
it in the games than in training sessions;
training is fake, not real, and when you
play against a real opponent, that is the
best way to improve.

Cc theGoodJoe, why have you then been telling us that training is what improves a player when Pep himself has pointed out that trainings are fake? This should be a sound advice for all players moving this season, don't go to a club just to go there and train, go to where you'd be sure of regular playing time. Finito
