The first thing you do when you rent a new apartment is to change all your keys. What of if the former occupant is having a spare key. You should have changed all the keys immediately you enter.

U can simple change d 'cylinder' (mechanism) of d lock & not d door knob. Dat way he can't hav access into ur apartment again unless he breaks d lock. But personally (cos of d curiosity streak in me cos I like to know woz going on!), I'd rather install a secret motion detector camera in my apartment to see who actually enters my apartment, how he doz it & what he actually doz inside.
