I have nothing against an igbo man becoming the president. I am an advocate of competency for any elective post regardless of the ethnic or political affiliation of the candidate. But in nigeria's politics, loyalty and much more numbers win election. Until the igbo learn how to play the politics right, I am afraid it would take an eon for them to get to that stage of producing the president.
If you look at the emergence of yaradua and jonathan as president, you cant take away those two factors I mentioned.

And when they voted in Obasanjo in 8 years, they didn't play politics right abi?

And what about the Middle belt? Why are you guys deflecting from there and focusing on the Igbos?

@The bolded, the Yorubas never supported the first tenure of Obasanjo, the Igbos did because it was PDP.

Get this right bro, the Igbos only vote parties irrespective of the candidate, they supported Obasanjo and Yar’Adua not because they love them but because they love PDP and they are die hard fan.

But you haven’t answered my question, how do you think the Igbos can become President either in PDP or APC, just give me a brief plan you think they can pull.

You mentioned Obasanjo bringing Yar’Adua, that’s true but can you tell me someone that can bring a Igbo man now or how do you think an Igbo can become the president.

Note: I fully support a Igbo presidency too for cohesion sake but it seems really hard looking at the current naija situation.

so Igbos are not members of APC or PDP ?

Bro am not arguing with u and ur party, what am saying is, Nigeria is not moving forward..

We want a different approach, what change did OBJ made in the SW for 8yrs of rule..

The north has ruled this nation more than anyone, yet poverty and insecurity is messing them up....

Look at the last presidential debate, didn't u see Kinsley moghalu....

Did u even watch the debate, thats a man with something upstairs .....

Nigeria is dying and what we are all clamouring for is change, and from my own opinion,

Their business mentality can be that thing we need to make the difference.... Or what difference do u think tinibu will bring, even GEJ my own brother f.up

Am not here for party supremacy , I just let want a different approach to things and they are the ones left to try

OBJ hold Lagos Budget for several years but Lagos still thrive

How are they using the Business mentality to develop South East?

So you mean Igbo have the monopoly of Business in Nigeria?

What make an Igbo man that open a 2 by 2 boutique better than a Yoruba that open a Barbing saloon shop?

Yoruba Artisans make more money than Igbo Traders

If Nigeria want to move forward, we need Yoruba skills

OBJ is a product of june 12. A compensation by the military to the yoruba after the all accepted 1993 election and what follows after Abacha's death.
The middle belt still dont have the numbers and loyalty with the north can get them the numbers. Still around the points I mentioned earlier.
And OBJ couldnt have won without the number in the north.

This guy is either miscievous or confused or both.

During the 2019 elections, all of you never believed that Igbos were supporting Atiku because he was the better candidate but rather accused them of supporting him because of Peter Obi who is Igbo. On the other hand you are saying that Igbos are so attached to the PDP like an umbrical cord and in your wisdom that was why they voted Obasanjo who is not Igbo.
You see how you people are holding Nigeria by the juggler by shifting the goal posts shamelessly to enable you defend the indefensible.

Now you are getting the drill. That is loyalty with other region. That is when a minority group can get the number to win election in this country.
Jonathan did exactly that in the south west few weeks to the election and he got all south west support except osun state where he lost.

Is alright bro... Is ur opinion and is OK...

That means OBJ forgot to use his skills

Please tell osibanjo to show us the skill .... because we are so bad in need of it....

Pls we so much need it right now.

The nation is sinking in debt, let them use the skill to deliver us ...

What am trying to say bro is this "u can't keep doing something same way and expect different result"

For the first time Nigeria was about to have two business men as president and vice in atiku and obi?

But we lost that chance. Am not seeing that chance coming back soon, don't tell me atiku is a criminal, because no Nigeria politician is free from that accusation

The first time Nigeria got it so close was OBJ, observe who where is key appointees, CBN governor was who, finance minister that helped us cleared our debt was who?

Education was better then than now, who was minister of education then ....

Take it or leave it bro... If tinibu make it there, then forget it, the change we are looking for is still far fetched....

Many Nigerians are so annoying. At any given time in every election they have option to put in someone else, someone from ather parties besides APC and PDP. But they all act dumb as if PDP and APC are the only 2 options they have. You guys should enjoy your foolishness. That is what a group of people who always look for excuse for their shitty life choices surffer.

Don’t you know most Nigerians are wicked souls?

They hate progress in any form.

Some are already asking who they could have voted for besides a failed certificate-less general and a failed former Vice President.

It’s almost a waste of time asking Nigerians to pick a good leader, they will always select the worst leaders and justify their choices.

This is the problem with you yorubas. Greed!

Because of greed, you voted buhari despite the killings of thousands in benue.

Continue!.... You'll get what you deserve.

Every human has an element of greed in them. However in Nigeria, one would most likely associate the igbos with greed many times over, before mentioning any other ethnic group. They have often attributed such tendencies to their reputed business acumen. Please don’t turn back today to give the appellation to another group, just because the topic is not about success in business.

That said, I must state clearly, that Yorubas do not give block votes to anyone. We believe in diversity and we embrace debate. Every election, the major candidates get divided votes in our region. This is healthy politics. Every election is a contest.

The same cannot be said for the South East. They have always given block votes. They gave it to Obasanjo in 1999 and did again for him in 2003, even against the hopes and wishes of the Biafran Icon, Ojukwu.

They did for Yar’Adua, Jonathan and Atiku.

Politics is a game of numbers. And you cannot sit tight in your house and demonise your neighbours, and still expect them to support your candidacy. Exclusivity is an inhibitor in politics. Be appealing across the board.

In 2015, Ngige had a chance to emerge as Senate President if and only if he won his constituency. I was in the South East during that period. The animosity towards him was stifling. A man whom his people once touted as a great Governor, was embarrassed at the polls only because he contested under a “Yoruba” party. This kind of reasoning is not going to get you the presidency.

Another case in point is the demonisation of the Lagos-Calabar rail project. This proposal suffered setbacks in the Senate when PDP was in control of the house. The South east legislators joined the adversary mob and did not lend their support to a project that would benefit them and their close allies, the South South. Do not cut off your nose to spite your face.

Last year, PDP stalwarts from the South East voted to zone the presidency to the North! The very thing you have been clamouring for, you gave away. I won’t reveal my thoughts on the reason behind that decision anyway. (Many people are sensitive on Nairaland and I am not prepared to engage in any online brawl today.)

If you want to win the centre, then you must not be offensive to your neighbours.

Nobody is out to get you. If your interests are appealing, you will win the support you crave.
