This had been discussed here long ago.

There is going to be a rate cut this July. I believe it will be 25 basis point. But the Market seem to want 50 basis points cut. We will see what happens July 30th to 31st.

All Central banks around the world are currently cutting rates. CBN had one and will definitely have another one once Fed cuts rate this July.

On the effect on NSE, it should have a bullish effect because FPI will have to direct their attention to economies that stocks have very low valuations and fixed income instrument yields are high. As Fed lowers rates, borrowing rates are lowered ad well which will make money readily available for risk taking. The more Fed cuts, the more the risk.

On the fixed income space, we can see that yields are falling on Tbills(11+% for 365 days). Meanwhile stocks are giving 13.5% on Dividend yields at Friday's closing.

Definitely this low valuations of NSE will not go unnoticed by smart investors.

25 basis point rate cut by Fed.

Nope, the post I quoted says a huge part left with Femi and it is not true.

I don’t need to read anyone’s analysis to dispute that statement.

The NCI was majorly from the power assets. Do we still have anything left of the power assets after the exit of otedola .
I will still have to digest the latest result to say more about your observation

I think those who said 5bp rate cut are doing percentage increase on the pair which gave 4.9% increase. grin

A 5bp rate cut will even strengthen the USD against other currencies.

I see a 25bp which market will also not welcome. The reason being that the data for US economy isn't that bad.

The market consensus is 50bp rate cut. This seems too high.

Fed can change the band (2.25 to 2.5) they maintain. It isn't cast on stone. If there is deterioration of indices as could be seen by fed, they will go lower.

@Meshpip,

Fed fund rate changed (now 2% to 2.25%) as discussed earlier.

Like I told you, it isn't cast on stone. Anything can change depending on the data Fed is looking at.

So how is your GBP/USD pair doing?

25 basis point rate cut by Fed.

Very good work! They put 2.50 as the previous rate. But what we have in the Fed's papers is 2.35%

I have expressed my concerns about the possibility of them dropping the rate BELOW the 2.25 % lower band.

Now we are fine, the currency markets are reacting excellently well. I have 30 pips as the standard deviation for the H1 chart on the Pound-Dollar pair.

I'm just awaiting a little more sell off and then I will buy the minute price fails to make a new low.

With the cut in rate, the fixed income market will become unattractive to investors and so we will see capital flight from fixed income into equities. That's when y'all stock traders will get your own share of the groove.

Here's what I have done thus far for today.
I had to close the 0.35 lot sized trade for risk management reasons. That was a few minutes before the news.
So far, so good. The real party will begin when my buy limit orders get filled.

Interesting to know that the Bank of England has its own rate announcement tomorrow. The week would be rounded up with the employment report for the US.

What an amazing week this is! If the market doesn't get sufficient propelling force after all these economic reports outlined above, nothing go fit help am.

Next week is gonna be lit!

The US rate is used as the prime lending rate globally. This rate cut will have a domino effect on all other rates globally within the coming weeks and months.

They are having a big challenge with getting inflation back above 2% in the US. The only method that has been used to do this is by cutting rates - the reverse of what the Fed Chairman (Lockher or what's his name again) did in the 80's.

They might also want to try tinkering on the employment figures. Reason this month's non - farm payroll will be of great interest to the erudite investor.

Interesting times we are currently in.

I can see that in your quest to build credibility here, like you were advised to, you have resorted to bringing conversations that are most relevant on the forex thread here with the haughty assumption that folks here are not conversant with them. When did the Fed fund's rate become the global benchmark for international transaction? Have you heard of LIBOR before?

Why would a mere 25 bp cut in the fed funds rates have a domino effect on the rates of other countries? Are you aware that there was an inverted yield curve in the US in Q1 of this year? Didn't you see the forecast for today at 2.25%? In fact, the rate was at 1.50% at the beginning of last year, so ain't nothing surprising in the cut. Go and look at the performance of the dollar against other pairs, the average loss is about 100 pips, so there is nothing special here oga.

When the US started raising rates in 2016, the BoJ moved rates to negative territory and it is still there. The BOE decreased its rate in 2017, leveled it up in 2018, and went 25bps up in 2019, look at the last MPC vote, all nine members voted for a hold, so no rate cut is coming from Carny and his gangs. Go look at what Draghi and his own gang did, what about the SNB? So, there is no established correlation between the movement in rates of the major economies.

We have seen the Bernanke QE era, the Draghi "do whatever it takes" regime, the conservative Carney move from the BOC to the BOE, and the crazy Abenomics, so don't come and blow the effects of a mere 25bps out of proportion in the false hope that you're enlightening some novices here.

The tall and short of this my rambling is that you are trying too hard to impress in the hopes of catching a big fish. As usual, you can continue living in self-denial and heed to the advice of those that are leading you astray. There is nothing that you need to know that I have not laid out here.

I am loving the volatility the rate cut report has created.

Sydney and Asian session have been really good so far.

I have offloaded all my buy side USDJPY and have just one last sell on GBPUSD to cover.

It's time for me to get some shut-eye so that I can be properly refreshed before London session.

BOE has always been a day after Fed. Copy copy.

I expect them to cut rate too albeit marginal.

I will advice you read up on fundamental analysis of stocks rather than just TA alone . It will help you to understand stock investment better.

He he, the spread na die. Place a trade on a standard lot and you'll start at about $700 in red.

The higher the liquidity between pairs, the thinner the spread, that is why the EURUSD has the thinnest spread.

Maybe not, they might use the opportunity of this USD weakness to strengthen the Pound even further.

The volume adjusted price of the Pound is still about 300 pips higher than where it is currently trading at.

Check the sequence: H4 has a new bearish segment. While D1 did a new high compared to the previous day's candle and also failed to make a new low.

If there is a good time to prop the pound up, today seems to be it.
