Hi Bro,

from what I see here, the reasons for refusal are kind of much and I think it’s something you should take ur time to address. Personally what I consider first in traveling is the money aspect because I feel like aside from proving to VO, I still need to be ok with what am leaving the country with because it can be worst being stranded financially abroad than Nigeria. My advice will be see how to work on your finance. Take your time plan again for the trip, Your course of study and it’s future prospects. With increased savings, most of the reasons for refusal will be answered.

I initially wrote a long story, but i had to erase all cos it will be useless not addressing the financial part and rushing to reapply. If u r wondering why I based a lot on finance, here are my reasons:

1. Deduct the amount you have planned for the course/program from your present balance, then ask urself if u will have something reasonable left for the other member of the family here in naij.

2. After paying your expected first semester fees, can what is left cover your balance to the expected first year living expenses n schooling expenses?

I think these are important to the VO, but I believe shud b more important to you.

Now I don write the story again. My final advice is take your time, work on your plan and finance again. You can even include ur family in the trip (because outside Nigeria, family is considered the best source of mental strength, focus and drive)

Note: I want to believe you read the refund policy of the school and your requesting for refund won’t affect the amount paid in anyway (considering reasons for visa refusal). If it will, Please ignore all what I wrote and wait for a better advice.

Best wishes

toluwalase1960:
Dear Nairalanders, I so much appreciate the good works you all have been doing here. Please I need your assistance on this question.
My study visa application was refused on the 1st August, 2019 (Please the reasons below). Should I request for another offer letter from same school while I address the issues raised? Or should I request for refund and apply to AL1 school and choose a course related to my discipline? If I pick this, I do not know how to prove that I will get job in that field when I return to Nigeria since my present career is not in line with my discipline. I am confused, I need help.
NOTE: I did not apply to AL1 list school initially because I could not afford the tuition deposit of 4m naira.
Thanks.

Below are reasons for my refusal:

The applicant proposes to study the following course in Australia:
✃ Master of International Community Development at Victoria University
I have considered the applicant’s GTE statement and all other supporting documents
provided, and have placed weight on the following factors in reaching my decision:
I have considered applicant’s age, and previous studies and employment. I am not satisfied
that the applicant has substantially demonstrated in his GTE statement how the proposed
studies will benefit his career path and future remuneration. I have noted the letter from
Ministry of Environment and Water Resources dated 20/06/2019 “Request for Two Years
Leave of Absent Without Pay” however it is noted that this letter does not state what the
applicant’s future position will be, future duties or remuneration will be and as a result I am
not satisfied that the proposed studies will benefit the applicant’s career pathway and future
remuneration. I retain concerns with regard to the applicant’s claims of future employment
with his current employer. I also find it unlikely that this employer is able to predict their
staffing requirements in 2 years’ time.
I am not satisfied that the applicant has substantially demonstrated how the proposed
studies will benefit his career path and future remuneration, noting and placing weight on my
concerns with regard to the applicant’s claims of future employment.
I am also not satisfied that the applicant has demonstrated that he has investigated study
options in his home country or countries other than Australia. This leads me to have concerns
with regards to the applicant’s intentions once in Australia should a visa be granted to him.
I have also considered that the applicant has declared a spouse and 2 children remaining
in his home country while he studies, however these ties in themselves do not convince me
of a strong incentive to return to his home country, noting and placing weight on the fact
that there are visa options open to the applicant’s family members to join the applicant in
Australia.
While I accept and have placed weight on the fact that the applicant may wish to study in an
English speaking environment and obtain an internationally recognised qualification, I cannot
be satisfied, given the applicant’s individual circumstances, that the applicant genuinely
intends a temporary stay in Australia.
I am not satisfied that a clear and logical pathway has been demonstrated. I am not satisfied
that applicant meets the requirement of genuine temporary entrant and genuine student.
I am not satisfied that the applicant meets Reg. 500.212 of the Migration Regulations.

Please what's the ideal no of pages/words recommended for GTE statement of purpose for Visa application to be concise and still capture the needed information?
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by fobak203(m): 11:51pm On Aug 20, 2019
1.5 pages of GTE tend to strike the balance between conciseness and explanatory notes. Remember just mention those things that ties you to your home country, how it helps you further enhance your skills in your present job in Nigeria and you have substantial evidence for those. In the process, mention going back to your home country once and for all. Repetition makes it look unbelievable.

For the purpose of visa application, yes, you can opt for the same course for your masters. Although competitive, when you get here, you can change to a course that guarantees PR. If you start your masters process now. You should be here by February 2020 at the least.

Glowing1:

I studied Accounting in my first degree. Should I still opt for this course for master? I need a course I can easily get PR. And also if I begin my masters process now when does schools resume?
Please i'm new to this

Hello house please I have a question.
I hold a bachelors degree in computer science (2010) and I have over 7years experience as a quality assurance personnel in manufacturing.
In that same period I also changed job but still focused on the same career path.
At the moment am about applying for MSc admissions into Macquarie university (MSc engineering management) and University of technology Sydney (MSc good manufacturing practice).
Those courses perfectly align with my career path as they both have quality management in their modules.
But my fear is will this fly with the VO?

I have a friend in Australia who is advising me to go for MSc in cyber security cos although I have a computer science degree ,but i have no prior IT work experience and haven't even written any IT certification
Which of these two options will be the best for me I mean which stands a better chance of visa approval ?

I have 2.9 CGPA in psychology, please what categories or specific schools should I search for masters programs?

If they CGPA can't fly for masters in Australia please let me know as well as what the AL1 is all about and of post graduate diploma prospectives do clinch visas as masters students.

My brother will be sponsoring my study in Australia as a PR as I even intend to stay with him during the course of study. Can that jeopardize my chances of getting the student Visa in anyway with my Australia ties? Thanks.

Newcastle is now considered a regional area under the new regional 191 and 491 visa starting October.

So just factor that into your decision making process
fobak203:
There are many things to consider before making such decision. You did not give enough information for anyone to help you decide. I will try to give a response from different perspectives.
PR: If you want to get PR easily, University of South Australia might be a good option because most parts are still considered regional especially those outside the ABC Adelaide Capital city. On the other hand, Newcastle where University of Newcastle is situated is not a regional area.
Jobs: There are no much difference in terms of available jobs in this area. But since Newcastle is close to Sydney, I would think it has more jobs or at least gives you more alternative and proximity to jobs. Nightlife: Again, South Australia is a relatively boring area compared to Newcastle, even though, Newcastle is not as bubbly as Sydney or Melbourne. They are all in relative terms.
Standard of living: South Australia is pretty cheap compared to Newcastle because the NSW effect has started to rub off on Newcastle. But you will be alright Las Las as there are jobs as countermeasures
Other things to look out for is the cost of tuition fees, prospect of your course of study to getting PR and general outlook based on your preference on the aforementioned topics. Google is your friend too. In terms of ranking. University of South Australia sits higher than University of Newcastle. Who ranking help if PR is not involved. These are my two cents. Others can add more to it. Cheers

Newcastle is now considered a regional area under the new regional 191 and 491 visa starting November.

So just factor that into your decision making process

Hello house, I applied for an Australian student visa last month and I got a message from immi today. They noticed I didn’t indicate a US visit visa refusal I had about two years ago, but I indicated that of UK which was quite recent. They are requesting for an explanation. Pls house, will it be better for me to totally withdraw this application to prevent another refusal? Or can I still get a grant after the explanation? Honestly it was an oversight on my part. Pls, urgent answers or suggestions are needed. Tanx.

Just sight a good reason why you did not include US visa denial. I've a friend in Sydney that had the same issue last year, he was denied Canadian study visa while he did not indicate it in his Australian study visa application, though the visa process took him about 5-6months to get his grant. Yours ganna be positive As well... Goodluck

Ally countries do share information.
Same happens to us and Canadian embassies also.
If you apply for a Canadian visa and didn't them about an earlier US visa denial.
Your visa application will be refused and they will state this as the reason.
Even UK does the same

A call for help!
Can one be denied Visa if the person didn't go for biometrics? I applied for a conference visa through an Agent to Asia last year but didn't go for any biometrics, and didn't get the grant as well. I'm scared if really the agent applied for the visa and I was denied as I'm about applying for my Visa to Aussie.

I am relatively new here but I personally applied and thankfully got a grant with no travel experience and 1 US visa denial.

Back to your question.
First, write a simple Letter of Explanation, acknowledging the omission and sincerely apologise for it.

Secondly, in the letter, explain to the VO that if you had an intention to hide your US visa denial you would have equally do same for that of UK. it was regrettably an omission committed in...
And, remember to briefly explain, stylishly and logically why you were denied (US visa) to your advantage if you can.

Lastly, don't forget to attach the US visa denial letter(if you still have it).

Note:
GTE and visa application is about thorough research, asking questions esp b4 applying hoping that someone would be kid enough (if they can and have the time) to respond.
No giving up in this journey. I hope u get a grant...
Give it your next best shot, to withdraw the application won't make much difference your travel moves

*This is my opinion not an immigration advice.

Australia, Canada, France, and some other countries have an information sharing agreement. Main reasons: to check against terrorism, and other security related issues.

Still learning and hope someone would assist me as well as I soldier on.

Simple answer is YES. Biometrics is important as the immigration need to know who enters the country. It also helps the Police or intelligent unit to travel a foreigner who commits a crime.

Please ooo

Can one upload evidence of source fund not declared while filling the visa application forms. Things like additional support from friends and family.

Secondly, I have been wondering about this. Can a consent letter with accompanying SOA from a non relative/ family friend serve as evidence of funding especially when one is on partial scholarship?

Thanks

Good evening everyone. I applied for visa on the 24th of June but actually my start date was 29th July and I got an extension till August 9th.Yeah I applied late. At some point, the school asked my agent for my reference number to chase up the embassy but unfortunately the visa didn't come out. On the 8th I got a mail from school to immediately withdraw my visa application that the fact they resumed coupled with the fact that their visa refusal profile shows that I might be at risk of getting a refusal, hence I withdrew. I'm about to re-apply for student visa and I want to know if I'd have to do another medical and biometrics. N.B I did my medical on the 18th of June and I guess that's still early. Please how do I go about it?

I have a similar issue and I'm trying to contact you via email.
Can you respond?

It is important you tell them what countries has denied you visa and for what reasons. If you are unsure, ask your agent.
Most countries will deny you visa base on finance or tie back home. Make sure those reasons has been addressed before lodging your visa application.

That's what I will although you may decide to go the other way.

Unfortunately, lots of schools ask for English Test. You may be able to ask for a waiver if you hold a degree and have a letter from your Uni stating that English was the form of instruction.

or does anyone know who can help do IELTS or PTE, as i have tried couple of times and didn't pass
Again, unfortunately you won't be able to get someone to seat on your behalf.

What you may be able to do if you are rich is enrol for ELICOS. Immigration do not process independent visas for ELICOS students. You may be able to find a UNI that provides ELICOS which will transit you to your degree course.
