jossy404:God bless you for this...some of this quotes were clearly stated on the website of all this hospitals, now penalizing the patients and excluding the hospitals seems fair right? What are this 'poor' Americans doing about this hospitals? Please let's keep same energy. If a VO/ American government feels an international patient should be punished by receiving a discount what about the hospital that facilitated the discount? It's ok to refuse an applicant if u want to,your country, your rules. But please come correct with a reasonable excuse not one sided punishment. |

jossy404:Its an excuse. Its been explained here several times but Twoods insists on stating contrary. Discounts are available to all patients that want to pay, no need to claim “hardship” or anything for that matter. People should be informed and notify the VO all the information with proof. |

jossy404:Why don’t you make this argument at your next visa interview? Or you think the VOs are simply sadists who don’t know their own country as well as you do? |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by TWoods(m): 3:12pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
AAESO:Poor Americans are US citizens who don’t require a visa. It’s not their responsibility to make sure you know the rules. The hospitals are not permitted to ask about your citizenship when offering you care. It’s not their fault that you’ve been exploiting a loophole all along. Besides, it isn’t punishment to deny you a visa, you can have your baby anywhere, your choice. |

peacenigeria:Please make sure to state this information at your next visa interview. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by AAESO: 4:26pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
TWoods:Mr trigger, do you realize nobody register at the hospital without a valid ID or a copy of your visa? So if am registering with a visa how am I taking advantage of the loophole? The way you take carry this matter for head can you have the same energy for the hospital? |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by TWoods(m): 4:47pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
AAESO:The hospitals provide a valuable service to us, you don’t. Simple as that. The hospitals are funded by taxes we pay, so yes it is the VOs responsibility to ensure that you don’t use loopholes to exploit them. Third, whether you register at the hospital with a visa or not is not my problem. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure you pay what it truly costs to have your baby in the US. Why don’t you respond to the VOs with this same level of self-entitled arrogance and see if you get a visa. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by AAESO: 4:58pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
TWoods:I have no idea of what you are going through but I empathize with u ok..ok now,its your responsibility as a tax payer to check me but ignore the service provider that I didnt not force to put up a price on their website? Com'n dnt be clever by half mate. I am not the one tripping over American visa let's be clear on that. Some of this people presented this same bills and quotes! And they were granted visa so tell me what's changed or you just decided to turn a blind eye to that fact? If stating the obvious is being self-entitled + arrogance!! Mate,I love it. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by TWoods(m): 5:47pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
AAESO:You can simply have your babies in your own home country. There is no visa requirement for that. |

Am not arguing with you neither do I need to argue it with VO. All I want to know is your own perspective as "an insider" for enlightenment cos am always ready to learn and I do business with your countrymen .......... TWoods: |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by TWoods(m): 8:02pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
jossy404:My perspective is simple - the VO is right. Paying $4600 for having a baby in the US is way too cheap considering what regular citizens pay. The argument that you’re simply getting it at a low cost because you’re self pay doesn’t work. If that were the case, it would make zero sense for anyone to carry insurance. Most folks pay annual insurance premiums higher than what it costs for you to have a baby here. It’s incredible. |

Please house, who can help with on how to go about getting ETC for my LO, I have tried severally to reach the Nigerian embassy in Atlanta with the number on their site but no one picks up and their voicemail is full. |

Stop spewing gibberish. I did all my laboratory tests in Nigeria and didn’t even know anyone in the USA. I was given the contact of a doctor in Texas and he gave me the price list for child birth. I was asked to pay a deposit, to get a letter stating he (dr) has accepted my wife as a patient. The dr gave us hospitals where he has privileges & we picked one. We discussed with a financial counselor & she gave us a quote for self paid patient. She even testified that, Nigerians use the hospital & they don’t have a problem with the embassy during renewal (which is confirmed). She even warned that, without upfront payment we’ll be ineligible for the self paid discount. Money was paid from Nigeria. Also, at the port of entry, the immigration officer was informed and given receipt of hospital payment. By your logic, the poe officers are ignorant or the us hospitals are deceitful, right? I don’t know of an American that can pay $6400 in cash. Who dash monkey banana?. It’s difficult for an average American to cough out $6400 in cash for child birth. Note that - mom’s have been receiving discounts since time in memorial. What is different now? TWoods: |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by TWoods(m): 10:38pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
babyfaiz:This is incredibly self-entitled nonsense. What percentage of Nigerians can afford $6400? Likely far less than 0.01% and definitely far less than the percentage of Americans who can afford that same amount. How many Nigerians can truly afford that on their legitimately earned wages alone? Middle class Americans can certainly afford that easily and would choose that over paying more than $20,000 annually on health insurance premiums if they could. As I have said here times without number, if you think Nigerians have that much money, why don’t you use it to develop your country so you don’t have to open countless threads begging piteously for foreign visas to countries whose citizens you presume are too poor to afford your level of wealth? Now, your doctor is not a visa officer nor understands how immigration law works. He can tell you what he likes, it’s ultimately meaningless when you apply for a visa. It is not CBPs job to question why you were given a visa. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Nobody: 10:41pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
AAESO:That's what all ILLEGALS do, you gave an American address, you are paying cash, no credit, no insurance, it means you are illegal and you are poor, no job or a drug addict. But this loophole works only once, you get out of US, no more benefits for you and no more coming to give another birth using this loophole. Now wait until your American child becomes 21, has a house and a job in USA and invites you to live there. Simple like that. Never again even a simple US tourist visa. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Nobody: 10:51pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
TWoods:So correct. I totally agree with you. And it makes me laugh the assumption Americans can't pay this small amount. Ignorance and silly claims. |

123JohnF:SMH for you and Twoods too. What's all this? Meanwhile, shebi na before person born naim e dey fill form for Birth Certificate, abi? HELL NO! It is done after birthing, long after payments have been made to the Doctors and facilities in most cases. So, how does that then determine the amount foreigners PREPAY for birthing? One logical thing that seems to be up, is that your "thieving" facilities may be taking advantage of this ADDRESS issue to "defraud" and cheat your government.... Why take it out on the "ignorant"? Las las, una own dey una body abeg. Make una calm down! |

123JohnF:lol!...na real wa! Do you work at the US embassy to determine all that? ![]() |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Beautyaddy: 11:10pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
OmoBendel24:That's not true. One can fill the Birth Certificate form right after the child is born even before payment is completed. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by OmoBendel24: 11:32pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
Beautyaddy:Aunty/Oga, that's for you "Americans"! Read my post again, slowly, and understand it and its context. PREPAY, FOREIGNERS, "IN MOST CASES" being the operative words and line to give attention to, please. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Beautyaddy: 11:52pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
OmoBendel24:I read and understood your initial post...but I still stand on my previous post that the Birth Certificate can still be completed as long as a child has been born...and before payment is completed. It doesn't just apply to Americans. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by TWoods(m): 11:56pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
123JohnF:Absolutely correct. That’s exactly the point the VOs are raising and Nigerians are pretending not to understand. Texas is particularly targeted because of the large volume of Mexican and South American immigrants who have long been doing this. That’s why costs are lower in states like Texas but not hinterland areas like Illinois, Georgia, New Jersey, New York. |
| Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by TWoods(m): 11:59pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
OmoBendel24:He is absolutely right. The vast majority of folks who do this here in Texas are poor, illegal immigrants from Mexico, El Salvador etc. Nigerians come here and the doctors and hospitals can’t tell the difference. They are not allowed to turn you away by law so they’ll be happy to take anything you can pay... The VOs aren’t stupid. They are asking specific questions for a reason. We can play dumb all we want. |
