It is like people here are selfish. So sorry to use the word. Some of us just stumbled upon this thread and we have been asking how we can also be part of the idea of obtaining a US students Visa but no one is ready to enlighten us.

Pls, help us with information, starting from choosing. a school, how to obtain scholarship etc.

It is by helping others that we become fulfilled.

Help! Help!! Help!!!!

Its been covered so many times that you either use the search button and try to find old post or use Google. There is aname sake of yours femi312 who posted many steps on schooling in the past ....

Yes the tread might be too many for you to read all as it now in part 15 but u just have use the search button and try to navigate the end to end schooling process or you read it all...lol .

So start your own research and then ask if you have specific questions . Also easy on the name calling , this one you are calling others selfish. You might be called LAZY wink

While you were waiting to “stumble” upon this thread, others were busy populating it with the info you now seek. You now want those same people to go show you what you need while you put your feet up and do what exactly?

You don’t need information on how to choose a school, that is your responsibility. No one shows you how to put food in your mouth.

Hello everyone.

I have been silently following this thread for a while and I went for my visa interview on Monday.

I was denied cry

I've been really distraught since Monday.

I need to reapply quickly because my school resumes in September.

I'm trying to gather my thoughts again to get input on my questions, as well as how I should re-apply soonest

Why where you denied? Can we see your transcript? Then we could know the way forward.

Hey guys,

How is the extension letter from the DSO? The one I can take to the CBP at the POE explaining why I'm arriving later than stated.

Is it in a document format or...

Request for an updated i-20; that's preferable.

Welcome here bro.
Firstly, you've to convert your ND/HND result to US STANDARD via WES (WORLD EDUCATION SERVICE) or any other Evaluation agency before you can apply to any GRADUATE school outta there in the state.
The WES do take like 3-4 months and cost is somehow HIGH so the earlier the better. check it out.

One thing you should know is that nobody owe anyone here a quick answer. Nobody is paid to do this.. Rather people do this out of sheer love for one another. I must caution you that if you continue with this attitude, wonderful responses from great minds here will continue to elude you... Stay blessed!

VO: You have an oncampus employment, what will you be doing
Me: I have not been assigned my duties..... A pause, it's a graduate teaching assistantship position

VO: who's your sponsor
Me: My uncle, Mr...

V.O : How many children does he have
Me: 2

VO: Where does he live
Me: Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State

VO: Why will he want to sponsor you
Me: My parents were one of his educational sponsor and he has been part of my success story since my mom died and he promised to sponsor me when I graduated with a strong CGPA

VO:Have you travelled before
ME: No I have not had reasons to

What I noticed during the interview, he emphasised on the huge scholarship as if he was impressed, but I feel he was disappointed with the fact that I said I haven't been assigned my duties, he said again that but you have a campus employment, that was when I mentioned that it is a graduate teaching assistantship position.

Also, how I got my scholarship, I should have mentioned my GRE scores, also although he didn't ask what I would do after my course, when he asked why this course, at the end, I should have mentioned a specific position, I had an answer for that. Please help me figure out what went wrong and how I can improve my responses, I want to reapply immediately.

No document was asked except passport, Sevis fee, and i20

My profile: 3.47/4.00 WES unofficial evaluation
GRE score:314, 161Q, 153V
My tuition was waived(30k)+ 10k stipends, total cost of attendance is roughly 49k, so deficit of less than 9k.

That's awesome. You GRE scores are good too. I'm just trying to understand what type o scholarships are actually present for Indian students. Do you have any idea about that. I just came to know from a scholarship blog that there are 3 types like Fellowship, Teaching A., Research A. Are there any other types of scholarships.

Em em, I think u need to calm down when explaining this situation to the VO. U r over explaining things n bringing opening up unnecessary line of discussion.

But my main reason for this post is different. A close friend of mine got her Visa from China just last week for an MBA. Her school was not a really known school somewhere in Boston (d name didn't stick to my head). She didn't write GMAT, GRE or TOEFL. She is from a neighboring African country and her official language is more of French than English, but her English is good.

However, she went with a properly loaded bank account and this is how her interview went... Roll your sleeves ladies and gentlemen.....

Her: Good morning.
VO: Nice to have u here. let me have your passport. Have this paper. Your Visa will be mailed to u in 3 days. You may leave now.

She went to Chengdu embassy, too many applicants at Beijing embassy she said.

Aside funding, your profile beats hers hands down. Calm down, get your responses across without confusing the VO. You should be fine but it is better to be over-prepared.

I think all type of scholarships are available for all countries, just have a good profile and indicate during your application that you're interested in being considered for the GA.
