You speak as yourself, not as Igbo. This mindset is criminal.

By the way, this was simply an FBI burst of a huge Igbo syndicate. There are other syndicates too, and we have come across them. The fact that this percentage of criminals from only one tribe is higher than what obtains in Nigeria should tell any person of average intelligence that this is not a representative sample. It's like going to Ekiti state, finding that 80% of the criminals there are Yoruba, and concluding that 80% of criminals in Nigeria are Yoruba.

Unrepresentative sample.

No matter what these guys steal, they are never near what our chronically corrupt leaders steal, which many of us seem very comfortable with, and is unfortunately the core of the problem. While condemning it, painting it as merely a tribal thing is not the way to go. Addressing the root cause of the issue which is bad governance is the solution.

Nobody said that our leaders don't steal. D issue is that d Nigerian environment isn't an excuse 4 our people to go abroad and start to steal. If these guys have d brain to steal more than $1b, they certainly have d brain to b legally productive irrespective of d environment they find themselves even in Nigeria. D root cause isn't d system. That's only an excuse.

Its quite unfortunate that most d cases of drugs& fraud related crimes being perpetrated by Nigerians abroad are being traced to nigerians of Igbo origin. because of that people will have no choice but to tag igbos. But it doesn't mean that there are no hardworking igbos in Nigeria & abroad. But when we start making excuses 4 these crimes instead of condemning them, then it becomes easy 4 non-igbos to make it an ethnic issue

This forum is full of funny people walahi! They choose to descend into the abyss of abuse, targeting a people based on their ethnicity, and when you join them at their game and beat them at it, they go running -tail between their legs- to the mod to get you banned! This thread is replete with assholes abusing Igbos, yet whoever is responsible is letting their posts fly without serving them same treatment given to those who replies them in kind!

There's a lot here who lack basic comprehension skills! For the record, let me spell out -in bullet sized points for easy comprehension- my sentiments on the issue at hand:

* I'm so fuc/king proud to be Igbo....110% as a matter of fact, and wouldn't change one thing about my people!

* Ndigbo do not have a proclivity to commit crime any more than the next person, however when a bright, enterprising and intelligent set of people are stuck in a decrepit and totally unworkable shithole of a country like Nigeria, and with a serious lack of opportunities to express their brilliance, there's bound to be social dislocation and the occasional resorting to means of survival that are...shall we say, not too wholesome, and in some cases, downright criminal.

* Some here have argued that the accused are in the US where they have opportunities to succeed without resorting to crime. This is true....to some extent. But going along with this argument ignores the fact that the US also has it's own issues of unemployment, social dislocation and race. This is not to excuse their (the accused) actions....it just rubbishes the point that once you're in the US, it's now Uhuru and you have attained nirvana! Things get worse for you if you're there illegally and don't have the requisite skills and qualifications that your mother country was supposed to have armed you with for you to have a fulfilled working adult life. And this is why i said subsequent gov'ts in the country from where the accused came have questions to answer as to whether they provided these individuals with the basic minimum and opportunities they were supposed to provide to aid their development in life.

* Didn't care to click on the video, but from what some have posted here it seems the accused are all part of a syndicate! This means we're not looking at a raft of isolated cases here, but one or two well coordinated operations where the individuals concerned will know themselves. This should explain why the names are preponderantly from one ethnicity. Also, i think mention was made of some of the accused being based in Nigeria....i stand to be corrected though. This would exclude the argument of 'being in the US...taking advantage of opportunities there....and so on'

* The main point i want to make here though is that all the Igbo haters, bigots and 'one Nigeria' schmucks on here expressing self-righteous indignation at the preponderance of Igbo names, and waxing lyrical about how Igbos are tainting their pristine and whiter-than-white image abroad.....all you knobheads should do us all a favour and STFU! Ok, i agree with you that had it not been for Igbos, you lot would have had the perfect image abroad and be in the running for winning the prize for 'nation of saints and angels'! wink All i ask is that you all support the Biafra bid for secession so you can get rid of the 'pesky nyamurees' for good and keep the country to yourselves....you're more than welcome to it! smiley

This is the last i'll say on this issue, as i know i'm dealing with unrepentant and rabid Igbo haters here who would latch on to anything to paint Ndigbo in a bad light and try to justify their hatred towards us!

Cheers! smiley

Is it not money u will still use to start ur drugs, crime, ritual, fraud and selling fake things? Do u no that it also takes more mental effort to do d things u said u would prefer to do than to do legal things? So when people say most igbos prefer crime & ritual to legit, u only confirmed what they are saying. From what u said, it isn't an ethnic issue. Its a fact

Anyone caught, tried and convicted should pay for his crime! This is the main thing!

Trying to draw attention to their ethnicity is for what? If your country had provided them with opportunities to earn a decent living i doubt we would be here discussing this today! This issue of getting gov't to be accountable and work for the people is all what IPOB is about! If you have a problem with their modus-operandi then start your own movement to change things....just like Sowore tried to do before they silenced him!

But it's not a justification for them to go into crime. These same people are no different from politicians back home. If they could do this outside Nigeria then If they are in a position of authority in Nigeria they will leave the treasure empty. Nigerians should deal with their demons that make many of them think that robbing others to make a living is an option. Leave political agitation out this.
