Fake Funerals are effective for the simple reasons that 1. You won't want to accompany her cause we all hate funerals and watching your girl cry is not easy; And 2. No one dares question and verify anything that's to do with funerals. It's taboo. Which makes the scenario appealing to utilize

The Fake Funeral can also be a Fake Accident, a Fake Illness or even a Fake Trip. Anything can be faked. But the common denominator in every Fake story is that YOU have to foot the bill for whatever is happening.

THE BROKE GIVER.
Sometimes a broke woman gets your money by falsely attributing her broke state to virtue.
