Please for the sensitivity of the issue I won't mention the bank's name. The only thing left is for that bank to open an estate account and transfer in the money, which they are frustrating
You are trying to cover a bank that is about to defraud you.

Were you not here where a thread hit nairaland front page stating that a lot of dead men's money are in bank that family members have no idea of or access to?

They can even send assassin to murder you just to make sure you do not get that money.

Even our leaders are prey to foreign banks as well.

What is wrong with you?

Better go back to the said bank and give them a final Warning that if they do not attend to your case, you will go public and court order to summon them.

You think you are in a foreign land where softy softy gets you result?

Good morning Nairalanders.

Few months ago I sought for help from this forum in my post titled "I'm About To Lose My Dad's Contributory Pension Bankers/Lawers Help", of which I received good comments.

One of those comments was for me to approach the court for a "Letter Of Administration" if I'm the next of kin or the beneficiary to my dad's properties.

After a long process at the court, I was finally issued with the said letter. I then took the letter to the bank where my dad was operating after being advised to open an Estate Account.

I then applied for Estate Account, but up till today they (bank) have refused to open that account giving flimsy excuse always. I'm beginning to suspect foul play from the bank.

Can I open such account in another bank while presenting the bank my dad was operating with account number for the money to be transfered in or sue the bank while they pay for damages?

HELP!!!

Hi,

I really sympathize with you regarding the frustrating tactics the bank may be using.

I am an experienced estate attorney and would be delighted to assist you if you so wish.

Many thanks.

i think you are not serious. go to twitter follow the bank and call out the branch, staffs involved in the issue and you will see heads will roll and they will start calling you. you better man up before someone eat your father's sweat.

You need to quickly involve the services of a lawyer. I am sensing that there are some irregularities on your Late Dads account which if exposed, some heads will roll in the bank. Immediately an estate account is opened, the balance on the other account should immediately be transfered to the estate account. That is the policy in most banks. To further investigate, please request for the statement of your late Dads account to enable you check if there where some withdrawals after his death.

A lot of misinformation here...

First of all...ignore all those talk about someone trying to prank you. There are standard procedures to this and until you are done with your part, you may not make much progress even writing CBN.

You have also not helped matters by not stating the reason for the delay. You may have to go back and get the specific reasons for the delay.

However, Estate accounts are prone to fraud hence the need for proper due diligence. I will also admit that some of these banks have unnecessary long internal procedures which can unduly delay you. You may also contact their customer care via social media to be sure there is another party looking at the transaction to douse the suspicion of one branch or person playing pranks.

The best is for you to return to the branch and get the actual reason for the delay before proper advise can be given you.

you can open an estate account with any bank of your choosing and ask this bank to issue you a banker's cheque for the balance in your dad's account in favor of that estate account. so long as your letter of administration is verifiable, the bank cannot refuse your request
Re: A Bank Is Frustrating Our Efforts To Recover Our Late Dad's Money. Help!!! by Whytecube: 1:16pm On Sep 17, 2019
By right you should have been given the avaioable balance on the account as instructed on a slip from the court to enable the court get 10% for the government as charge for the letter of administration. Note: There are no bank charges associated with this type of transaction.

Contact their head office via customer care service and your issues will be resolved, i had similar issues with GTbank but was immediately resolved when i got their head office involved about my ordeal with their branch, however this is after you have gotten letter of estate administration from the court through a lawyer.

Is not compulsory to open the Estate account with the said bank. You can as well open it with another bank and your Dad's bank will issue you a bank draft of the value in your late dad's account which you will now pay into the Estate account. Note: The draft must be in the Estate name so go and do the needful

Another proof that contributory pension is a scam, where are your late Dad's PFAs ? how come none of them is saying anything, better contact Pencom and report the bank and the PFA, they re trying to chop your inheritance.

If your Dad named you as the beneficiary this shouldnt bean issue, these PFAs are so corrupt, they wont tell you that a 'next of kin' and 'a beneficiary' are different entities.

I'm not ashamed of asking. kindly educate me on the differences between the two. I'm have the same problem with my late dad's pension as I've not even gone close to it for like 4-5 years after his death.

Yes I submitted the LOA and Death Certificate to the bank, filled the form for the said account. They even said that they have done the search to confirm the authenticity of those documents and found them to be true copies. But the reason they have refused to open that account is what I don't know.

If you don’t know the reason for the delay why not ask?
You can also ask them to give a timeline to completion, get their response in writing.

Dear OP,

My condolences on the death of your Dad. It is painful enoughto lose a member of the family. Now this. First and foremost, you need to know exactly why that account has not been opened. Then, make a formal complaint if you weren't satisfied with the answers copying the ogas at the top. Alternatively, you can open account in another bank and request to close the account of your late father. Why would you want to continue with them anyway?

Juz pass through this 2months ago. Same delay and unnecessary excuses after securing the "letter of administration" from the court and submitting to the bank as required. Buh las las there was a day I went to the bank, the manager wasn't polite to me @all but I gave it to him hot hot. Left the bank in anger. Got home, pick up my phone & place a call to the CUSTOMER CARE line to report. I wasn't satisfy with that so I sent a mail to the headquarters uploading necessary documents & also tagging CBN on same mail. Finally I got my entitlement within 1week.

You'll have to mention the bank at some point if you really want people to help you pressure the bank into doing the right thing.

Send a mail to the bank customer care while tagging CBN.

they will certainly must have given you a reason, they can't just refuse to open an account. I will advise you go back to know what's going on then if you still notice foul play from them get a lawyer to write to them. Don't institute any action against them until they fail to comply with the letter. And litigation against them will take time so it's my advice u go back to them to know what the problem is/ get a lawyer to write a letter.

Just be patient. Wait till the 1st week of next month. Banks don't dole out such monies until after they have balanced their sheets at the end of the month.

So just exercise a little patience.
