Now after taking the drugs for about 3 days, the side effects were terrible and unbearable. I already had a subsisting kidney problem and the drugs was making it worse so I had to stop. What I want to know is what are my chances if I permanently discontinue the drugs? Am I going to seroconvert? I am scared shitless and if this happens to make me HIV+, I am seriously considering suicide.

Nice story. But the part you forgot to tell is that it wasn't a razor blade that cut you. Rather either your condom busted or you decided to have a quickie with an olosho.
Nevertheless, its important you take the ARV if she is confirmed to be positive. Although there are chances the blade does not have the virus since HIV virus does not survive long outside a host.

even if her blood stained the blade the possibility that there is a time gap between when she put it there and when you had the cut give a fair chance that you DON'T have it cause the virus cannot live survive outside a living cell... put your mind at rest and go find a wife and repent

Firstly, let's consider the worst case scenario, that you have the HIV!! Trust me this is not the worst thing that can happen to you. HIV is no longer a death sentence as the media portrays, matter of fact there're common sicknesses that are worse than HIV such as diabetes, cancer and chronic renal diseases. You can still live with HIV and "Live your best Life.'' Don't let the devil defeat you and make you consider suicide, no one is certain what lies out there, Life is hard doesn't make death easy. In this country you can wake up in January squatting with a friend and in December you're moving into your apartment in Lekki, trust me these miracles happen everyday & all you have to do is to truly find Jesus (not the Nigerian church tax tithe collecting jesus); be patient and diligent in your hustle.

Secondly as for the razor, I don't think HIV can survive outside the host for over 30mins so you should be fine. I must commend you for having yourself tested, you don't loose anything in getting to know ur status.

Lastly, let this scare be a reminder, next time always use a condom and stick to one partner only. Abstinence is the best if possible.

The virus doesn’t survive outside its host for long. So unless you slept with the girl, taking antiretroviral drugs is a very foolish thing to do. What are you attempting to kill? Malaria virus?

Viruses are referred to as borderline organisms for a reason. In a host, they come alive, but on a dead surface, they remain inactive until they are re- introduce into a living substrate, then they come alive again. Some can stay for decades in that state

Well, if your story is true and its anything to go bye. Then, you are not positive because the HIV virus doesn't survive more than 30 seconds outside a host.
So relax!

@op you had mentioned that the trauma occurred a week after the lady was admitted in the hospital. This is good cos HIV virus cannot exist outside the host for that length of time. It simply isn't possible. So, if that is the case, I highly doubt that you have the virus.

The second scenario is that your friend may be lying and had used the razor recently. I am curious as to the reason you are not worried about your friends HIV status. The girl may have gone but there you are sharing your domicile with someone at a high risk of having the virus. Forget about the razor, your friend may be the next host and since I can't tell his moral compass, your flatmate may be staging the scene for you to be exposed to the virus as well. How else can you explain why a "sane" person will put a HIV-laden razor in your own bag? It simply doesn't make sense.
