jpphilips:Have you seen the official stats of the trade volume btw both countries? I laugh when you all just make sweeping statements about Nigeria being the most powerful in Africa. maybe you all wanna sound patriotic, but the evidences abound, even militarily Nigeria won't stand SA, talk more of Algeria or Egypt. Before we even begin what is the numerical strength of the armed forces again? and what's our budget/spendings for defence in the last 20yrs? No doubt Nigeria has potential to be the best but how can you achieve that without investing on your military? mind you SA has nuclear technology o .We go dey alright las las. |

jpphilips:South Africa has no "astronomical" economic advantage over Nigeria currently, and the little it has now is set to plummet in the future as the years go by. |

bxboss:Egypt and Algeria are out of the question yes, but South Africa is overrated. It has no "astronomical" economic advantage over Nigeria. At what little it has is set to plummet in the coming years. Shoot over 80% of the "wealth" and industry there is in the hands of 6000 European families(less than %9 of the population) who have there own interest and trade more with there western relative countries. |

AskiaHarem:It's easy to say "Shoot" if I may ask, what platforms has Nigeria got to carryout such mission? are the so called European families (Boers)not South-africans? or will the SAn armed forces fold their arms and watch you raid their country? We should be realistic, and tell ourselves the truth, the Nigerian government needs to do more in terms of funding the military, we don't even come close to SA with respect to military spendings, even during the Nigerian civil war both warring sides hired SAn mercenaries because of their experience. |

Uwaomaokey:Two Nigerian Soldiers? This is not news na. The Federal Government is hiding the truth. The current Northern Borno axis is currently 80% under the siege of Bokoharam. As a Soldier if you are posted to Marte, Abadam, Kukawa, Baga, Nganzai, Gubio, Magumeri and Gudzamala all in Borno North you just have a 10% chance of returning alive. Soldiers are using their lives to restrict the ISWAP guys from proceeding into Maiduguri. The day Bokoharam takes over Monguno, definitely i don't pray it happens. That will be the end of Northern Borno. Currently they have turned Monguno into an Island because all surrounding Local Governments (Marte, Kukawa, Gudzamala are controlled 95% by them) Even the Only route Monguno-Maiduguri that was free last year in now partially in their hands. Bokoharam now stops passenger cars asking of military personnel in the passenger vehicle. That is why we humanitarians put on ID's when travelling that route now If ISWAP post the bodies of all Soldiers they've been killing and Arms they've been carting away in the last six months... Hmmmmm it'll be Messy. Soldiers in Southern Borno like Gwoza, Bitta, Shani, Damboa, Chibok and Biu are relaxing because Shekau's faction cannot attack a Military base. They only attack military convoys because they do not have much fire power like the ISWAP. In the last two weeks Bokoharam has taken over 20 Military vehicles from the Military in the Gudumbali, Gajiram and Gubio attacks. We are just sacrificing young handsome dudes unnecessarily |

AskiaHarem:My brother no matter how we want to look at we the sad truth is that they're ahead of us since 1989 South Africa's military spendings has being on steady decline yet they're current defence budget is about $3bn, we haven't spend such amount of money in a year at any point in our history, how do we even measure up? Once read a report on channelstv that for us to be at par with South Africa in terms of infrastructure, we need to be spending about $10bn yearly on infrastructure for the next 20yrs, it is that embarrassing. |
