Adelola94:
Good morning everyone,
Please Access bank refused to issue statement of account for my sponsor. Instead they gave a receipt indicating the password and ticket number to access his account. I have upload the receipt they issued. Is it advisable I send this to the embassy?

Hello Adelola94,

There's nothing to worry about, go ahead to submit it. With the bank statement ID and ticket password, the account can be directly accessed by the embassy. Also, do well to highlight it in your study plan or LOE, so it points the VO to a right understanding. If possible, request the bank to give you a reference letter in respect of the account to support the print out/receipt.

Good luck!

Urgent help please

Please for someone that is not working, is it advisable to write “student” for present occupation?

After nysc I started interning with a company but it’s an unpaid internship
Thanks

If you're a fresh graduate, you can input student and provide documented evidence of your study histories with dates likewisw that of your NYSC and Internship. In permutational order, input the dates of attendance and name of institution/organization in the provided space.

Good luck!

Hello Nairalanders,

I have a question regarding study permit application.
I schooled in Ghana where, international students are recommended to have residence permit. However, I only did it in my first year and I failed to renew for the following years of study (due to financial constraints).
Although, I never stayed more than 3months (90days) at a go and if I did, I always paid for my overstay.
Will this be an issue during my applications?
It's urgent please.

Please for the
1) affidavit of sponsorship
2) letter of sponsorship
Are the documents to carry the court name
example

” in the high court of ......

Sworn before me.....

Commissioner of oath”

OR

Just stamping and signing the documents is enough

Urgent response needed please thanks

Affidavit must contain the former- In the high court of blah and sworn before commissioner of oath while the letter is normal letter containing address, salutation, body and signature of your sponsor.

From your response, the letter of sponsorship shouldn’t be stamped and signed in court right?

Good day house. Please I need help and clarification as to why a 17 years old child would be refused Canadian student visa on the basis of lack of ties to Nigeria and Canada( she has a sister that's studying in Canada) and lack of travel history

We want to appeal and don't know how to proof ties to Nigeria and travel history( she hasn't travelled out before) how do we go about this. Please any advice would be appreciated.

Do we have any chance? And what doc can we use to apply

Hello Okilala,

..from my own perspective, i would advise against an appeal. It will be better to put in another application for her. This time, show proof of her home ties by using tangible things i.e. employment, landed properties, investments connected to you as her parent or both parent to build a strong home ties for her.

Also, on her own part; a savings account, insurance saving scheme, children membership camps or organization, investments in her name etc can be good to make a strong home ties profile for her.

If you're able to tackle and satisfy the VO on home ties, the travel history won't be a problem, as it will be waived. If you have a travel history, you can also use it as a leverage to explain (to) or convince the VO.

Good luck!

Kindly contact the school or your department with a follow up email concerning the deferral to winter semester 2020.
I contacted them since July and all what they have been telling me is that they will work on it and that there's no stipulated period for it.

I am just confused, I need to start making plans towards January

Hello Everyone, I want to make an observation of what I noticed regarding employment here in Canada. I am writing this post to prepare everyone intending to come over here about the reality of the Employment stream for new arrivals/Immigrants

"The wage gap between immigrants and Canadian-born workers has more than doubled in the last 30 years, according to a new report by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) — despite the federal government placing more emphasis on economic class immigration"

What the Bolded is saying is no matter your age or the amount of experience you have in your country employers here hardly value your international experience I'm not saying this happens to everyone but majority of people go through this problem. They go for interviews and because they view them as newcomers they offer them Minimum wage or the low compensation package. The bolded is actually a quote from an immigration writeup here in Canada and they are trying to bridge the gap.

Canada is a lovely place and you should definitely come but be prepared when I say prepared I mean mentally. A lot of students struggle with the education system and realise wow "They thought me rubbish in Nigeria" and have to adapt to the new process, the whole Country itself is a "System" you either fall in place or get kicked out.

I wish everyone a successful Transition into the Canadian culture. God bless and goodluck in your trv application and please note that this post us just to prepare your minds to bring that Unique Naija Hustle here and succeed grin

Thanks for sharing here, but I want to ask;
Is it difficult getting part time job as an international student?
Some said combining part time job with schooling is almost impossible with the demanding nature of Canadian system of education, what's your take on this?
Is it possible to take care of living expenses with part time job as an international graduate student?
thanks for your anticipated response.

Good evening house! I am newbie who have taken time to read through this thread. I wish everyone contributing positively God's favour.

I have few questions to clarify?

Can I submit a deed of Gift from my sponsor along side my personal savings? If yes, In what format should the letter be composed?

Is it required I get a sponsorship letter from my parent?

Thank you.

That's a good question. I'm also on part time basis for now and I can tell you it is very stressful. The Canadian education system is so demanding now I understand why they ask you not to work more than 20hrs a week. You literally come back home tired every day and trust me that's the reality check of Canada don't let anyone deceive you. It's a System here there isn't any African time syndrome. You have your lecture hours and shifts at work.

You can obviously work but to make it easier follow this tips:

1. Plan your courses well with your course advisor so you have enough free time. For example lectures Monday-Wednesday and working Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I hope you get the drift. Or classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday and working in between those days.

Balance is key and essential to having a good Education work balance till you get a better immigration status. Professors and assignment/quiz here are like 5&6. Some people actually take semester's off due to the pressure especially for thesis programs where you don't write exams just reports and projects.

P.s: when you are working part time what you make is mostly only good enough to pay monthly expenses so don't expect to save unless someone gives you money from home or something. Please be guided don't have misconceptions !
