I don't like doing this but this above is a problem.

You know about drugs but don't know how they function in the setting of disease as much as the people who understand pathology and the pharmacology you know.
Now, I manage patients and I see how they respond to drugs (whether intended or adverse). I see these things on a daily basis but you think some book knowledge of pharmacology will make you know what I know. Those of you closer to doctors as clinical pharmacists respect this because they're better exposed. I won't talk to a marketer about pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry because it will be difficult to make me see how those will uniquely affect direct patient care for a drug being marketed so it largely comes down to the pharmacology which I studied and see in patients every day but you don't.
You already have this notion which is clear from your earlier replies that I have something against pharmacists and it's wrong. I sincerely believe nurses have more (numbers) opportunities (may not necessarily be better paid) in the clinical, field and industrial settings than pharmacists. I also believe it is easiest for them to move overseas among all health professionals and this is common knowledge. You can disagree with points and it's fine but there's no need for insults.
Bye.
Ever heard about clinical pharmacy and therapeuticshuh What do you think they do there?? They cover the pathophysiology of all disease conditions. Agreed doctors may have better understanding of pathology of diseases and no one is even challenging that because they're expected to make diagnosis, but know today that pharmacists are not ignorant of disease diagnosis.

Why do doctors refuse to allow pharmacists direct contact with patients in clinical settings as obtains in developed countries?? Insecurity?? Those clinical pharmacists you typed about, let the CMD of whichever hospital you work start allowing them to go on ward rounds and observe how patients are doing on drugs. Let's see if they'll not do better! They'll not interfere with your roles! Just let them monitor patient's responses to drugs and give you feedback. Or are you guys scared they'll open your "nyashes"?? Lol

Guy, know it today that nurses don't have better job opportunities than pharmacists!

Cancel research in Nigeria. No R&grin is done here. Sales and distribution is also done by biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, microbiology graduates and the companies even prefer them sometimes because they can pay them less. When it comes to dispensing, most community pharmacies just have 1 pharmacist supported by a number of pharmacy technicians.
I have pharmacist friends looking for jobs but I don't have a nurse friend looking for a job.
Like I said, pharmacy looks attractive to people outside but those of us inside know nursing has more opportunities. I'm neither a nurse nor pharmacist.
I know you back then in 2010.. ur story abt admission and all. guessin u done with nysc, HJob now?

How can you compare Nursing with Pharmacyhuh Almost anyone can do Nursing but you have to be very intelligent and focused to do Pharmacy. Nursing only gained some respect because they are well paid abroad. Nursing ke? grin

And I had a colleague back in Nursing school who failed the Weeding exam now he is a medical student in his 3rd year. You think nursing is child play right

The marketers that they are is Why i really love them.

I am neither a nurse nor a pharmacist I am a medical laboratory scientists.

Paid employment will get you an average life and you can never be wealthy.

Apart from NGO's that can pay a nurse million per month, no establishment can pay them up to that.

All you people discussions has all been on paid employment, but pls look at both profession at an entrepreneur point of view.

The biggest pharmacy I once worked at in ilorin makes close to 7 million per day( the owner is not even a pharmacist; it was at aata 30+ he sent his first son to pharm school when he started having license issue).
If one should invest 2-5millionare in a pharmacy store, with persistence ( good marketing as a marketer and God ( richness forever is being laid at that persons feet). In pharmacy , you can create a business empire for your generation.

N. b A nurse can also have a pharmaceutical store, in which I also dream of having.
